NVIDIA and AMD are just graphics card developers. In the vast majority of cases, these graphics accelerators are produced by other companies.
Which video card manufacturer is better
Since video cards in most cases are not produced by developers, but by manufacturers, the durability of these expansion cards directly depends on the manufacturer. Many companies are engaged in the release of graphics accelerators, but the most famous Asus, Gigabyte , MSI and Palit .
The company Asus produces video cards belonging to the middle (in its segment) price range. Therefore, one should not expect turbine cooling from it with any highly efficient evaporators. However, with its task – the production of good video cards – it copes well.
So, for top-end video cards the company Asus uses a proprietary cooling system with four-pin fans, numerous heat pipes and aluminum fins. They are quite effective in reducing the heating of the chip – and at the same time they are quiet.
In addition, in video cards Asus you can find various additional functions such as a backplate or backlight.
Gigabyte is working even better on cooling systems. Therefore, video cards, even top-end ones, differ from this company in the minimum heating intensity. In addition, she manages to keep these expansion cards quite compact.
Nevertheless, video cards from this manufacturer differ in a higher price than that of Asus.
Despite the fact that MSI is one of the largest manufacturers of video cards, it is not as good at developing its graphics accelerators as the previous two.
But it has a special Gaming series, which includes gaming graphics cards that have become “even more gaming”. Thanks to proprietary multiplier unlocking technology, these graphics accelerators start to work faster than the developer planned.
The price paid for this is a slightly higher heating under high load than Asus and Gigabyte. However, it is still insignificant. Like Gigabyte, Asus uses a proprietary cooling system, which differs not only in the design of the heat pipes and the configuration of the radiator, but also in the geometry of the fan blades.
Palit is the world's largest graphics card manufacturer. But this does not prevent her from releasing rather mediocre accelerators at all.
More precisely, she, like the others, has both successful and very mediocre models. But only Palit manages to produce versions of the same accelerator that are radically different in performance.
So, for example, its video cards in some cases take up three expansion slots at once – and still heat up more than similar models from competitors, occupying only two slots. This can be critical for some gamers.
But Palit manage to overclock video cards so that they start to work even faster than models Asus with an unlocked multiplier. The accelerators included in the GameRock Premium Edition line are especially productive. Moreover, they also support additional overclocking!
NVIDIA and AMD
Development companies sometimes produce video cards themselves. Most often they do this with the top and newest models. For example, in 2017, NVIDIA is single-handedly releasing the Titan XP graphics card, and AMD is launching several Radeon RX Vega series models at once.
But since there is nothing to compare these video cards with (except between themselves, but this is a topic for a separate dispute), it makes no sense to carry out any analysis. Considering that they are flagship, you can simply say that they are all infinitely cool.
It's hard to say that any of the Big Four manufacturers are better or worse than all the others. However, for example, enthusiastic gamers should pay attention to models from Palit, especially in the flagship series, lovers of silence – on Asus and Gigabyte, and everyone else – on MSI.
