How to tie a tie properly

Life style

Sooner or later, a man needs to attend an official event. Whether it's on September 1 at a little boy or a business meeting with representatives of big business, skills are needed that will allow you to look formal at any such event.

As a rule, fathers teach their children the first basics of etiquette: how to tie a tie, polish shoes and iron a shirt, how to match all the elements of the official wardrobe by color. But what if such an opportunity did not appear?

You can, of course, pretend that clothes for you are just a means of covering up nudity. However, in my opinion, I can have such an opinion either fools or people who have achieved very great heights in their lives. The latter can afford this, because this is their style and they no longer need to prove anything to anyone. One of the prominent representatives, the late Steve Jobs.

Even at meetings with world leaders (presidents, premieres, etc.), he did not cheat on his worn jeans and black T-shirt. Of course, few people know that this image of an IT specialist cost Jobs several hundred thousand dollars, but that's a completely different topic 🙂

So, morning, there is an important event for you ahead, and here the first obstacle on the way to your success is a tie. How to tie a tie correctly? Pictures, diagrams, videos are hard to understand at first glance and it will take some time and several attempts to tie your first knot, as in the picture.

The first thing you need to pay attention to is a diagram of how to tie a tie. It is, as it were, a mirror image that you can see by tying a tie in front of a mirror. Most men tie a tie while standing in front of a mirror.

Second, I recommend tying a tie with a buttoned shirt and a raised collar (by the way, I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the types of collars on a shirt). Throw the tie around your neck, either with the seam facing you or away from you. For example, a “Pratt” knot is tied with a purl knot, and starting to tie such a knot, you must put the tie with the front side on yourself. Try not to overturn your tie while tying.

Third, determine the length of the end that you will “work” with, that is, tie around the other end. As a rule, they work mostly wide, so the tip of the narrow end should be pulled out to a level just above your navel (this value can vary depending on your height, length and thickness of the tie). Exceptions, such as the Eldridge knot, where they work with the narrow end.

Then begins, step by step, the process of tying a tie. Crossing both ends in the second step, try to confidently hold the crosshair with your index finger above and your thumb below, adjusting the tension and knot uniformity in each of the subsequent steps.

At the final stage, when you pull the wide end down, you can adjust the loop tension by holding your right (or left, as it is convenient for you) hand on the knot, and with your left hand on the narrow end of the tie. You can also slightly adjust the shape of the knot by making it symmetrical or vice versa making it uneven.

Lower the collar and place a knotted knot between the ends of the collar. Thread the narrow end into the loop or label on the back of the wide end.

By the way, you can fix your tie with a tie clip, which will not allow your tie to dangle in different directions or sink into a bowl of soup.

That's all. It remains to learn how to tie different knots for a tie and read about the care of a tie. I hope you no longer have a question on how to tie a tie correctly and you can easily use the diagrams and instructions.
