The Pratt knot was designed by Jerry Pratt of the US Chamber of Commerce. Another name for this site is “American” or “Shelby”. After the publication of an article in such well-known media as the New York Times and New York Daily Telegraph, the whole world learned about this site and the popularity of the Pratt site in America skyrocketed. Instructions on how to tie a tie with the Pratt knot

  1. Throw the outside of the tie over you, seams out. The wide end is on the right and the narrow end is on the left. The tip of the small end should be extended to a level just above your navel (this value may vary depending on your height, length and thickness of the tie). We will work with the wide end of the tie.
  2. Place the wide end with the narrow end, forming a crosshair.
  3. Pull the wide end towards the neck and thread over the collar (tie) that has formed.
  4. After wrapping the collar of the tie once, pull it to the left.
  5. Form the front of the tie knot by sliding the wide end horizontally from left to right.
  6. Pull the wide end towards the neck again and pass through the collar (tie) that has formed.
  7. Pass through the loop on the front of the knot that you formed in step 5.
  8. Pull the wide end downward, tightening slightly. Adjust the resulting knot so that it fits evenly into your collar.
