  • meat for steaks – at the rate of about 200 g per person
  • salt
  • spices (optional)
  • non-stick pan or grill pan
  • vegetable oil

Cooking method:

Step 1. The most important thing in making a good steak is choosing the right meat. You need premium beef, preferably tenderloin (this is the name of the carcass portion). The meat should be an even red color, without tendons and other strange inclusions. Often meat for steaks is sold already cut into portions, but if not, cut it into steaks about 2.5 – 3 cm thick.

Step 2. Place the skillet on high heat and heat for a few minutes. Steaks at room temperature (it is better to take them out of the refrigerator a little in advance) lightly coat with vegetable oil and (if desired) pepper and other spices to taste (you can take a mixture of spices' for steaks), but it is better to salt ready-made meat.

Step 3. Place the meat in a hot skillet and fry first on one side, then on the other. Cooking time depends on how much you like cooking. For a 2.5 cm steak, it is as follows:

  • Very rare: 15-30 seconds on each side,
  • Rare: 1 minute on each side,
  • Medium rare: about 2 minutes per side,
  • Medium: 3 minutes on each side,
  • Well done: 4-5 minutes on each side.

If you have thicker pieces, add 1 minute for every centimeter.

Step 4. Remove the steaks from the pan, let it rest for a couple of minutes, salt and enjoy!

Recipe 2: Lamb ribs with onions

Lamb ribs are an excellent dish for a family dinner or for a large company. There are various ways to cook it, we will consider the simplest one – in a pan.

You will need:

  • lamb ribs – about 1 kg,
  • onion – 2 heads,
  • garlic – 3 cloves,
  • spices to taste (spices for meat)
  • salt
  • ground black pepper
  • vegetable oil

Cooking method:

Step 1. Prepare the lamb ribs: wash them, pat dry with a paper towel. If the ribs were sold in one piece, then cut them into pieces of 1-2 ribs.

Step 2. Place the ribs in a deep bowl, add a couple of tablespoons of the spice mixture, some black ground pepper and about 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir everything with your hands and let stand for 30 minutes.

Step 3. Put the pan on maximum heat, pour in some vegetable oil, throw in the peeled garlic cloves. When the pan heats up (this can be understood by the fact that the garlic begins to darken), add the lamb ribs there and fry, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown on all sides.

Step 4. Cut the onion into half rings, sprinkle it directly over the meat, reduce the heat to medium, cover the pan (do not stir) and let cook for 10 minutes.

Step 5. After 10 minutes, the onion will soften. Stir it in with the meat, reduce the heat a little more and leave to simmer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally so that the meat does not burn.

Recipe 3: Fish in the oven

If you do not want to cook meat, but fish, then here is one simple recipe that does not require much effort, but always pleases with an excellent result.

You will need:

  • sea ​​fish: dorado, sea bass and others, sold as a whole, or alternatively – salmon steaks
  • olive oil
  • lemon
  • salt and pepper
  • rosemary and other herbs (optional)
  • oven

Step 1. Spread a sheet of foil about three times (or more) wider than your fish on the table or directly on the baking sheet. Pour some olive oil over it.

Step 2. Make sure your fish is gutted (this is most often sold, but there are exceptions), rub it inside and out with salt and black pepper, you can also add rosemary or other herbs to taste. Place it on the foil on top of the butter.

Step 3. Pour some more oil over the fish and place a couple of lemon slices. Wrap the foil carefully, close it tightly so that nothing spills out. Repeat the process for each fish.

Step 4. Heat the oven to 200 degrees and place the baking sheet with fish to bake for about 40 minutes.

Step 5. Take the fish out of the oven, carefully unfold the foil (you can directly on the plate) and enjoy!

Recipe 4: Potatoes with mushrooms and onions

You will need:

  • potatoes – about 700 g
  • fresh or frozen mushrooms – about 350 g (half as much as potatoes)
  • bow – 1 head

If you use frozen mushrooms, it will take some time to defrost, water will come out of the mushrooms, which can be carefully drained.

Step 3. Fry the mushrooms, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes, until the mushrooms change color to a darker color. In the meantime, chop the onion, add it to the mushrooms, fry for about 5 more minutes.

Step 4. Set aside the mushrooms and onions. Peel the potatoes, cut into 2-3 cm cubes or 1 cm thick strips. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan, add the potatoes there and fry for about 15-20 minutes, turning frequently. The potatoes will begin to soften and generally look 'fried'. At this point add mushrooms and onions, mix thoroughly, add salt and pepper, cook for another 5 minutes.

  • kefir – 1 glass (as a last resort, you can replace it with milk, but the pancakes will be less fluffy)
  • flour – 1.5 cups
  • sugar
  • salt
  • baking soda

Cooking method:

Step 1. Break the egg into a large bowl. Add 2-3 tablespoons of sugar, mix thoroughly. You can use a mixer if you do not have one – it is most convenient to stir the mixture with a regular fork, whipping the contents slightly.

Step 2. Pour in kefir, add about 0.5 teaspoon of salt and one third of a teaspoon of baking soda. Stir with a mixer or spoon.

Step 3. Add flour and mix thoroughly to make the dough smooth, without lumps. That's it, your dough is ready! It should be moderately liquid, approximately like condensed milk.

Step 4. Put the pan on maximum heat, add some vegetable oil. Wait a few minutes for the pan to heat up. Scoop up a little dough with a tablespoon, put in a frying pan. It will creep into a small pancake. Repeat the process 4-5 times until there is room in the pan. To avoid splattering your entire kitchen, it's best to keep the bowl of batter over the skillet.

Step 5. So, your pancakes are fried, at some point they will need to be turned over. To understand when it has come – look at the surface, it will remain light, but it will cease to be liquid, as if it is covered with a film. At this point, you can flip the pancakes. They should be fried until golden brown on both sides, if you turned the pancakes over and saw that they were still too light on the back side, that's okay: then you can always turn them over and fry a little more.

Step 6. Serve the pancakes with sour cream or any jam, your homemade breakfast will be a success!
