When doing household chores or your favorite hobby, the appearance of paint spots on things is not uncommon. This problem is unpleasant and often causes panic for many, because everyone knows how difficult it is to remove such pollution. If you are also tormented by this question, our experts are ready to provide a valuable answer.
Before using the methods of removing stains from various fabrics suggested below, it will not be superfluous to take into account some useful tips that will help to avoid unpleasant incidents:
Be sure to check the resistance of the fabric to aggressive substances in an inconspicuous area of the product. It would be unpleasant to completely ruin the thing without solving the original problem.
It is necessary to wipe the stain strictly from its edges to the center. Otherwise, the contaminated area will become even larger.
Don't tempt fate by using regular gasoline to remove paint stains – it will leave a permanent stain. Choose only refined gasoline (it is sold in specialized stores).
The pre-treated garment must be washed separately from others to avoid the ingress of dyes on uncontaminated fabric.
An old stain must be softened before being removed. For this, ordinary butter or margarine is well suited, which, after achieving the desired result, are thoroughly washed off the fabric (otherwise the greasy mark will be even more fixed).
Removing oil paint
Oil-based paint stains are perhaps the most difficult to remove of any paint available. To get rid of corrosive dirt and not damage your favorite clothes, you should choose the right product and use it correctly. To effectively solve the problem will help:
Gasoline (refined) – Use pure gasoline to remove oil paint stains. It is enough to soak a cotton pad in a caustic agent and walk it through the contaminated area. Then send the product to the wash.
Laundry soap – high quality soap (it is better to give preference to 72%) in combination with soda and salt can work wonders. Rub soap into a metal container, pour in water, add a little soda and salt. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. Put on fire and bring to a boil. Then dip the area of clothing damaged by paint into the prepared solution and leave it there for 15 minutes. Send the product to the wash.
Alcohol – suitable in case laundry soap alone is not enough to remove paint. Just rub the dirt well with soap, then pour alcohol on the damaged area of your clothing (both ethyl and ammonia will work equally well). After 5-10 minutes, send the product to the wash.
Solvent – this method is optimal only for natural materials (synthetics do not tolerate aggressive effects). Spread the solvent gently on the dirty area of the fabric, removing the grease mark with light strokes from the edges to the center. Then wash the thing in the machine.
We bring out alkyd enamel
This type of paint lends itself best to white spirit. To remove the stain, treat the wrong side of the stain with a cotton pad soaked in the indicated solvent. If the fabric is made from a very delicate and delicate material, be sure to place something on top (such as a paper towel). Then send the garment to the wash.
We remove stains of watercolor, gouache, tempera
The types of paint listed above are water-soluble, so there should be no problems with removing such stains. To remove traces of watercolor, it is enough to rinse the contaminated area under running cold water, then send it to the wash, selecting the standard mode.
Tempera is oil-based, so washing alone may not be enough. Before sending the product to the washer, rinse the ink mark under a stream of warm water, adding a liquid detergent to the fabric that can dissolve the grease.
Removing acrylic / latex paint stains
Stains from these types of paint can be removed without any problems. For this, a powerful tandem of washing powder and bleach is suitable. Moisten the thing turned inside out under running cold water. Then send it to the washing machine by adding stain remover to the detergent drawer.
If, after a long wash cycle at a temperature of 30 ° C, a trace still remains, you can safely use heavy artillery: gently apply a small amount of detergent to the contaminated area of the fabric and slowly brush the product using a toothbrush. If the stain persists, you can send the item again to wash.
