How to quickly remove fat from a frying pan: 5 easy ways

Laundry and cleaning

Fat burnt to the pan is a burning problem for all housewives. The good news is that you can clean up dirt from kitchen utensils using simple home remedies. What kind? Our experts will share valuable recipes for solving the problem.

How to quickly remove fat from a frying pan

Method number 1. Acetic-soda effect

A simple and effective method for removing most types of dirt from pans. Please be aware that it will not work on non-stick products. Since the method is non-invasive, you don't even need hand protection. So, you will need a glass of water and table vinegar (9%), 2 tbsp. spoons of baking soda. First, put the pan on the fire, then add the vinegar-water mixture. Bring it to a boil (some of the carbon and fat should have already been removed by that time).

Remove the utensils from the stove and carefully add the baking soda. Expect the mixture to sizzle violently. After a few minutes, drain the contaminated water and thoroughly wash the kitchen utensils with a regular dishwashing detergent.

Method number 2. The method of Soviet housewives

This is a time-tested method that will help clean the frying pan of hopelessly stale grease stains and carbon deposits from the outside. You can use this technique to clean cast iron or aluminum. To solve the problem, you will need:

  1. metal bucket / basin;

  2. a bar of laundry soap;

  3. 1/2 tbsp. silicate / office glue;

  4. 1/2 tbsp. soda (soda ash / food grade);

  5. scraper.

Boil water in a container over high heat. When the water comes to a boil, reduce heat to low and add grated soap, glue and baking soda to the container. Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Be sure to open a window and turn on the hood, if there is one. Now you can start cleaning the pan. Dip it in the resulting solution and keep it on fire for several hours (2-4 is usually sufficient).

Be careful with the handle made of plastic / wood: be careful not to get it in the water or disconnect if it is removable. Remove the product from the container, rinse thoroughly with water and clean it thoroughly with a scraper. But be careful not to remove the enamel from the surface.

Method number 3. Washing powder + oil

This method is very effective in the opinion of many consumers for cleaning the pan from both the inside and the outside. Pour water into a metal bowl, add a handful of washing powder and a couple of tablespoons of oil (any vegetable oil will do). Dip a frying pan into the container and put the basin on fire. Bring the mixture to a boil. Not very old dirt should be easily removed after this procedure. All that remains is to rinse the utensils under running water.

Method number 4. Mechanical devices to help

Before resorting to such a radical method, it must be borne in mind that it is acceptable only in cases where it is simply not possible to clear the pan of fat by other means. The fact is that mechanical methods of removing carbon deposits can remove not only fat, but also the top layer from the walls of the utensils. So, if you have a grinder or grinder at your dacha / home, confidently use them. If you use the latter option, the circle should be an end flap.

Method number 5. Heat up the sand

This method is great for removing grease from the inside of an aluminum frying pan. All you need is sand and fire. Pour clean sand almost to the top of your kitchen utensils. Put the skillet on fire and heat for 2-3 hours. After that, it remains to simply pour out the sand along with the carbon deposits. Unfortunately, such a method will not help to cleanse the product from the outside of fat.

Useful Tips

Finally, a few valuable tips to help you take care of your kitchen utensils properly:

  1. Do not use the dishwasher to clean the cast iron skillet – it will rust.

  2. Do not use acids to clean Teflon coated items – they may be damaged.

  3. Wash a pan made of aluminum, preferably with glass cleaning agents, and also with a soapy solution with the addition of ammonia.

  4. You should not wash the pan when it is still hot after cooking – this can deform its surface (albeit imperceptibly to the eyes).

  5. After cleaning products made of aluminum, steel and cast iron from fat, do not forget to calcine them with a mixture of oil and salt – this simple technique will help restore the non-stick film.
