Cold weather in Russia is a common thing, therefore, gas heat guns are used to heat greenhouses, garages, hangars, warehouses, industrial premises. Modern devices burn blue fuel with practically no smell and no smoke. It is enough to periodically ventilate the room to ensure a comfortable microclimate. Since various security systems and electric fans are installed in gas heat generators, there must be a household network (220 V) in the room. A wide range of gas cannons is presented on the domestic market. Recommendations of our experts will help potential buyers to choose the optimal model.

Selection recommendations

Safety. Gas-fired heat generators have several dangerous points.

  1. One of the main disadvantages of gas heat guns is the increased fire hazard. If handled carelessly, the gas mixture may explode (a spark in an enclosed space is sufficient). Manufacturers solve this problem by installing valves and a reducer, overheating protection.
  2. The second negative point is the burning of oxygen and the formation of a large amount of carbon dioxide. The room must be well ventilated or a supply and exhaust ventilation system is installed in it. It is advisable to limit the time people spend in such a room.

Thermal power. The choice of a heat gun should start with calculating the heat output. Experts advise adhering to a simple scheme for rooms with a height of 2.5-3 m: for heating 10 sq. m requires 1 kW of thermal power. But when calculating, one should take into account the height of the ceilings, the degree of thermal insulation, the temperature difference, the duration of the gun.

Maximum air exchange. Gas heat generators are equipped with electric fans, which ensure rapid heating of the air. Manufacturers indicate the throughput of their products in cubic meters per hour. However, experts warn of high outlet temperatures for high-performance devices. The most powerful gas cannons have an air exchange rate of 2500-3000 cubic meters. m / h.

Type of fuel. Modern gas cannons run on different types of blue fuel.

  1. The most common are models that consume liquefied gas. It can be propane, butane, or a mixture of these hydrocarbons. The specific heat of combustion of these gases is approximately the same. Butane burns faster than propane, but its boiling point is -0.5 ° C (for propane -42 ° C), which creates problems at negative temperatures. Therefore, it is more expedient to fill the cylinder with a propane-butane mixture with an increased concentration of propane in winter.
  2. Natural gas (methane) is rarely used. It is burned in powerful industrial models. Converting to LPG requires special jets and burners.

Ignition system. A spark or open flame must be created to ignite the gas mixture.

  1. Manual ignition models require matches or lighters.
  2. For non-smokers, it is more profitable to use piezo ignition guns. Ignition occurs when the corresponding button is pressed. In some models, the piezoelectric element is automatically triggered when the gas valve is opened.

Fuel consumption. The economic feasibility of using a heat gun depends mainly on gas consumption. Approximately, to release a thermal power of 1 kW, it is necessary to burn 0.07 kg / h of blue fuel (propane-butane mixture). The most economical low-power models consume 0.7-2.5 kg / h. More efficient heat generators burn from 3 to 7 kg / h.

We have selected 11 gas heat guns for review. All of them are sold in Russian stores. When allocating seats, the editorial board of the magazine proceeded from the opinions of experts, taking into account the reviews of domestic consumers.
