Today one of the main attractions of the capital of Russia, along with historical buildings, is considered to be an ultramodern architectural complex called “Moscow City”. It is located in the area of ​​the Presnenskaya embankment, in the place where a limestone quarry used to be. The construction of the complex began in 1995 and continues to this day. The buildings of the Moscow “city of the future” made of glass and steel combine high-tech, modern and neo-constructivism styles. Most of the area of ​​the skyscrapers belonging to the International Business Center is occupied by office space. They also house shopping areas, entertainment centers, restaurants and luxury apartments. The skyscrapers are equipped with observation platforms from which a dizzying view of the city's sights opens, including the Kremlin, located just four kilometers from Moscow City.

The construction of the tower was completed in early 2008, and a year later it became the winner of the international competition “real estate market records”. The first 34 floors are occupied by VTB Bank, followed by offices, and the space on the upper floors is reserved for apartments, a spa center and a restaurant. The total area of ​​the building is 112 thousand square meters. The skyscraper is serviced by 17 elevators, of which 6 are high-speed. In the stylobate, that is, the foundation of the structure, there are retail premises.

Skyscraper “Evolution” is the most original building of the business center. Designed by the international architectural firm RMJM, led by architect Tony Kettle, the 250-meter-high structure appears to defy the laws of physics at first glance. The curved spiral shape visually resembles a DNA molecule and symbolizes the evolutionary development of mankind. The unique feature of the skyscraper is the use of cold-formed glazing, which made it possible to achieve high strength of the facade and the integrity of its appearance. In addition, the glass has an original optical effect – it reflects the surrounding panorama of the city rotated at an angle of 90 degrees. The skyscraper covers an area of ​​154 thousand square meters, it has 55 floors and is served by 14 elevators. In the lower part there is a three-level stylobate with shopping galleries and restaurants.

8th place – North Tower “Oko”

The northern skyscraper of the Oko complex is a 49-storey building 254 meters high. The structure combines the simplicity of the chosen geometric shape and unusual elements such as beveled edges of the facades. The design looks light, neat and fits perfectly into the surrounding environment of a modern business district. The concept of the skyscraper was created by the renowned American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, which for more than 80 years of its activity has managed to implement projects of high-rise buildings in dozens of countries and has received 800 professional awards. In addition to office space, the tower houses residential apartments, some of which are up to three hundred square meters. The base of the structure stands on a stylobate in the form of a multifaceted crystal, uniting two skyscrapers, it is from here that the name of the Eye was taken, which stands for “Foundations United by a Crystal”. The inside of the stylobate houses conference rooms, fitness centers, restaurants and other public areas.

The St. Petersburg Tower, which is part of the City of Capitals complex, resembles cubes unevenly placed on top of each other in its design. The author of this original form is the NBBJ architectural bureau, based in Seattle, USA. More than 70 years of experience of architects has made it possible to create a reliable and high-tech building with a memorable appearance. A significant part of the building is occupied by office premises, and above them are elite residential apartments. The skyscraper is 257 meters high and has 65 floors and is served by 22 elevators.

The waterfront tower is a complex of three buildings, differing in height. Block C rises 268 meters above the ground, the skyscraper has 60 floors intended for use as office space. On the first of the underground levels of the skyscraper, of which there are five in total, there is a shopping hall.

Just like the neighboring building, it stands out for its unique and futuristic architecture, giving the impression of diagonally displaced glass cubes. The building is connected to the St. Petersburg skyscraper by means of a stylobate, which houses office space, as well as shops, boutiques and presentation halls. Most of the tower's area is occupied by premium-class residential apartments; a fitness center and spa-salons are also equipped for the residents. The building has 42 lifts. Shortly after its opening, the Moscow Tower received several prestigious awards for architecture and interior design, and, according to the Emporis Skyscraper Award, it was included in the top 10 skyscrapers in the world.

4th place – Tower “Eurasia”

The Eurasia Tower is the only steel skyscraper in the Moscow City complex. It has a simple and laconic, but stylish architectural form, the facade is made of emerald glass. The multifunctional building has 75 floors and its height is 309 meters. The total area of ​​the skyscraper is 210 thousand square meters. It was designed by international architecture firm Swanke Hayden Connell Architects. The tower has three conventional zones. At the bottom there are shops, restaurants and sports complexes. Above them, more than 86 thousand square meters are allocated for class A office space. And even higher, starting from the 45th floor, there is a residential area with premium apartments. Residents and visitors of the building are transported to their destination by 39 modern elevators.

3rd place – Mercury City Tower

The Mercury City Tower is rightfully considered the brightest and most noticeable building in Moscow City. A huge faceted tower that rises upwards by 339 meters, in addition to its fantastic shape, stands out for its golden glazing. The building was designed by American architect Frank Williams, renowned for his leading role in the design of many of Manhattan's modern skyscrapers. Some additions were also made by the Dutch architect Erik van Egeraat. The structure has 75 ground floors and five underground levels. The lower part of it is occupied by class A + offices, followed by elite apartments with a hotel level of service. On the 40th floor, there is an event venue that received the European Property Awards as the best event venue in Russia and Europe. The building has 26 high-speed noiseless elevators. The total area occupied by the Mercury City Tower is almost 174 thousand square meters.

2nd place – South Tower “Oko”

The southern skyscraper of the high-rise complex “Oko” includes 85 floors and its height is 354 meters. The design of the building was developed by the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, whose authorship belongs to the famous Dubai Burj Khalifa. The structure consists of luxury residential apartments ranging from 80 to almost 300 square meters. Also in the tower is a hotel with 300 rooms. This building is one of the tallest residential buildings not only in Russia, but also in Europe. It was awarded an honorary prize at the prestigious international competition FIABCI Prix d'Excellence.

The eastern tower of the Federation complex is the highest building in Moscow and one of the tallest in all of Europe. Moreover, it ranks first in the country in terms of the number of floors, exceeding even the Lakhta Center in St. Petersburg in terms of this indicator. The building rises 374 meters above the ground and consists of 95 floors. The Federation Tower combines the most advanced technological solutions in an elegant, ultra-modern shape. The project of the main skyscraper of the capital was developed by world-famous architects: Sergey Tchoban and Peter Schweger. High-strength concrete was used during the construction, making the building, unlike the infamous New York Twin Towers, able to withstand a collision with an aircraft. On the 89th floor there is the Panorama 360 observation deck, which offers a panoramic view of the entire central part of Moscow.
