Since the introduction of the first mass-produced sports cars, one of the most important characteristics has been engine power. The efforts of manufacturers to please customers and outperform competitors over time led to the emergence of supercars, and subsequently hypercars. The horsepower race hasn't stopped lately, and companies continue to ramp up horsepower under the hood of new models. In this rating, we will consider ten passenger cars that are currently leading in this indicator.

Bristol fighter t

Rating: 4.1

Bristol fighter t

In addition to the original design with a bias towards British classics, this car boasts an 8-liter Viper V10 engine with twin turbocharging. Its power is 1000 horsepower, and the maximum torque reaches 1405 Nm at 4500 rpm. The turbocharger is water cooled and intercooled for more efficient operation. Considering that such power is enclosed in a hull with a total weight of less than one and a half tons, the ability of the Bristol Fighter T to accelerate to the first hundred in 3.5 seconds seems quite natural. The car is theoretically capable of developing a maximum speed of 430 km / h, but the electronic system will not allow accelerating more than 360 km / h.

Koenigsegg CCX-R

Rating: 4.2

Koenigsegg CCX-R

The Swedish Koenigsegg CCX-R model was created as an environmentally friendly version of the standard CCX. The hypercar inherited an eight-cylinder engine from its predecessor, but its power increased by more than 200 hp, as a result, reaching 1018 hp. The reason for this progress, which shocked even the engineers who tested the car, was largely due to the use of ethanol, whose excellent cooling properties allowed for increased cylinder pressure. Of course, the CCX-R has undergone some design improvements to the fuel channels and turbocharging system. In terms of dynamics, the 1,280 kg vehicle is capable of gaining 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds, while subjecting those in the cabin to an impressive 1.4 G-forces. The top speed is 402 km / h.

Ultima Evolution

Rating: 4.3

Ultima Evolution

The product of the British company Ultima Sports is equipped with an eight-cylinder unit with a capacity of 1034 hp, which produces a maximum torque of 1246 Nm. The body of the car is made of fiberglass with separate carbon elements, while the chassis is made of steel and aluminum. This allowed the Ultima Evolution to weigh only 950 kilograms. The top speed of 386 km / h is far from a record for a hypercar of this level, but the ability to accelerate from zero to the first hundred in 2.3 seconds is really impressive.

Zenvo ST1

Rating: 4.4

 Zenvo ST1

A hand-assembled, limited-edition, rear-wheel-drive sports coupe from Danish car manufacturer Zenvo. Despite the fact that the car is intended for use on the highway, engineers have tried to make its design as close as possible to a racing car. The base of the body with a total weight of 1.68 tons is a steel frame with carbon fiber panels. The adjustable suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers and a six-speed manual transmission further contribute to the explosive dynamics of the 1,100-horsepower monster from Denmark. The seven-liter V8 engine delivers a maximum torque of 1,430 Nm. It is complemented by a Gerrett turbocharger, which provides a steady increase in power at high revs. The Zenvo ST1's top speed is electronically limited to 375 km / h, and it takes just 3.2 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

Rating: 4.5

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

The Super Sport modification was based on the standard Bugatti Veyron 16.4. During its development, engineers managed to increase the performance of the engine, modify the cooling system and suspension. The latter added cornering confidence to an already extremely stable hypercar. In addition, the car received an updated exhaust system. The turbocharging has been significantly improved, several air intakes have been added. Also in Super Sport, the body has undergone changes, which has become completely carbon fiber. A W-shaped sixteen-cylinder 1200 hp engine is installed under the hood of the car. Thanks to the aerodynamics brought to almost ideal, acceleration to hundreds takes only two and a half seconds, and the maximum speed is 430 km / h (to fix this record, the electronic limiter had to be removed).

Hennessey Venom GT

Rating: 4.6

Hennessey Venom GT

This supercar was created by the American tuning company Hennessey Performance Engineering. Its V-8, borrowed from the Chevrolet Corvette and heavily modified, has 1,260 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,566 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The Hennessey Venom GT is also equipped with a pair of turbochargers, adjustable suspension and a rear wing. In order to reduce weight and improve aerodynamic properties, the car body and wheels are made of carbon fiber. On tests Venom GT acceleration from zero to 100 km / h took 2.8 seconds, and the maximum speed was 427 km / h.

Locus Plethore LC-1300

Rating: 4.7

Locus Plethore LC-1300

The 1,300-horsepower hypercar was created by the Canadian company HTT Automobile. When developing it, engineers focused on Formula 1 standards, which provided amazing aerodynamic performance. The body is based on a carbon monocoque with panels made of composite material, the total weight of the car is 1250 kg. Under the hood of the Locus Plethore LC-1300 is an 8,200 cc V8 engine delivering 950 Nm maximum torque at 3,000 rpm. The car accelerates to 385 km / h, reaching the first hundred in 2.8 seconds.

SSC Ultimate Aero TT

Rating: 4.8

SSC Ultimate Aero TT

The American sports car is equipped with an eight-cylinder 6.8-liter twin-turbo engine with a capacity of 1350 horsepower. Such indicators were achieved largely due to the use of new radiators in the cooling system, which made it 20% more efficient. In addition, the TT version differs from the standard SSC Ultimate Aero coupe in improved aerodynamics: the manufacturer has managed to reduce the drag coefficient by making some changes to the body. The rear spoiler has also been upgraded, equipped with the Aero Brake function, thanks to which it can contribute to a rapid reduction in speed during active braking. The car body is made of carbon fiber with some titanium elements. The maximum speed is limited to 412 km / h, acceleration to 100 km / h takes 2.8 seconds.

Koenigsegg one : 1

Rating: 4.9

Koenigsegg One

The Koenigsegg One: 1 is powered by a five-liter twin-turbo engine with 1360 hp and a torque of 1370 Nm at 6000 rpm. When creating the body, mainly composite materials were used, due to which the engineers of the Swedish company managed to achieve a mass of only 1360 kilograms. Thus, the specific power of the car in percentage ratio was one to one, which was reflected in the model name. One of the important features of the megacar (as the manufacturer called it) is the ideal aerodynamics, which is facilitated by the variable geometry of the wing and automatic control of the ground clearance. From zero to 100 km / h, the car accelerates in 2.8 seconds, and in order to gain speed of 400 km / h it will take only 20 seconds. With such monstrous dynamics in mind, a state-of-the-art braking system with forced-ventilated carbon-ceramic brake pads was developed for efficient handling, capable of stopping the Koenigsegg One: 1 from 400 km / h in 10 seconds (assuming the wing is used as an air brake).

Bugatti Chiron

Rating: 5.0

Bugatti Chiron

This masterpiece of engineering was named after the famous racing driver Louis-Alexander Chiron. The turbocharged sixteen-cylinder engine installed in the hypercar has a power of 1,500 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,600 Nm at 6,700 rpm. The motor is equipped with four turbochargers. The Bugatti Chiron's excellent handling is ensured by a range of stability systems, adaptive suspension and all-wheel drive with active rear differential. Also, a robotic 7-speed gearbox with two clutches was developed for the car. The top speed is 420 km / h, and the Chiron picks up a hundred from a standstill in an incredible 2.4 seconds.
