No fan of computer games can do without a video card. No one disputes that some modern processors have an integrated graphics core, thanks to which the application interface is processed, as well as heavy video playback. But for running games, integrated 'graphics' capabilities are often not enough. And if a video card is chosen, then in most cases only NVIDIA products are considered. That is why we decided to tell you about the best video adapters from this company. So we will find out which video cards do the best for their task. In this case, we will consider not only desktop models. We will also talk about those video adapters that are installed inside the laptop. It is interesting to determine how they perform in comparison with their desktop counterparts. We will also talk about models designed for installation inside the server.

NVIDIA TITAN V

Rating: 4.9

NVIDIA TITAN V.jpg

As of February 2019, this is the most powerful hobbyist graphics card ever produced by NVIDIA. This is a real monster, sold in Russian retail for 255 thousand rubles. Expensive. But if you read our ranking of the best processors Intel, then you already know that top-end computer components are now extremely expensive. What do they ask for such money?

This video adapter is based on the Volta architecture. At the same time, a delicate technical process was used, thanks to which the manufacturer managed to maintain low power consumption, and the heat generation remained quite acceptable. All in all, there was room for 21 billion transistors on the board of this device. An amazing figure! This number provides approximately 110 teraflops in deep learning tasks. It also uses three-dimensional stack memory – roughly speaking, this technology is similar to the one that began to be used in SSD drives some time ago. By the way, the memory capacity is 12 GB. It is difficult to imagine at least one game for which this would not be enough. Interaction with memory is carried out at speeds up to 652.8 GB / s. In a word, the throughput is also high here.

What else can this monster boast about? Perhaps, one cannot fail to note 5120 CUDA cores. With so many of them, the rendering of the video after editing is significantly accelerated. Also, the video card includes 640 Tensor cores. Well, three DisplayPort and one HDMI are used as connectors. The video card must cope with the simultaneous output to two monitors at once. But what can I say, she can handle displaying images on three or four monitors, especially if they have a resolution Full HD.

The width of the NVIDIA TITAN V is large enough that the video card will take up two slots. But this can be said about every powerful video adapter. This model is powered by 8-pin and 6-pin connectors. Don't forget to stock up on a powerful power supply! But don't be alarmed. Most often, the product will consume no more than 300 watts. However, no one will argue with the fact that I would like less gluttony.

Who might need such a video card? Top video bloggers who publish their material on YouTube first come to mind. They will appreciate the increased speed of work in Premier Pro and other similar programs. It is also a ceiling for a gamer who did not want to build two video cards into their computer at once. With NVIDIA TITAN V, you can play Battlefield V at 2560×1440 with high graphics settings, with an average frame rate of 80fps. It should be noted that the measurements were taken in early January 2019. As you know, later the DICE studio released a patch that increased the frame rate even more.

Advantages

  • A large number of connectors;
  • Acceptable power consumption;
  • A huge number of CUDA cores;
  • High memory performance;
  • The memory capacity is 12 GB.

disadvantages

  • Extremely high price tag;
  • Difficult to find on sale;
  • No support for ray tracing.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti

Rating: 4.8

NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2080 TI.jpg

If the model discussed above is the dream of a professional, then many gamers want to buy the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. This video card is sold for more reasonable money – about 98 thousand rubles. Of course, this representative of our rating still needs to set aside several average Russian salaries. But you cannot but agree that the purchase of such a video adapter looks more real than the purchase of TITAN V.

A completely different architecture is used here – it is called Turing. If we compare the video card with the models of the previous generation (they will close our rating), then it is capable of boasting six times higher performance. This is what NVIDIA itself says. In practice, the results are, of course, much more modest. But you definitely can't help but notice support for real-time ray tracing – of course, where this function has already been implemented. This technology provides noticeably more realistic lighting, and how believable the reflections are!

The factory model is equipped with a 13-phase power supply. The product received 11 GB of video memory. Here it belongs to the GDDR6 standard – this is where the device differs from the professional model discussed above. The memory bandwidth is 616 GB / s, and its speed is 14 Gb / s. The video card also received 4352 CUDA cores. Not a record, but many people professionally engaged in video editing are satisfied with this. The product supports the maximum image output with a resolution of 7680×4320 pixels. And for sure, this video adapter can easily cope with any modern VR headset. DisplayPort, HDMI and USB Type-C connectors are used to connect monitors (the latter is designed specifically for virtual reality headsets). The maximum image can be displayed on four monitors, if we are talking about models with a low resolution.

Despite providing power via two 8-pin connectors, the video card consumes 250-260 watts. This means that in theory it can be satisfied with a 650 W power supply.

If you run Battlefield V on a computer with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti video card, the result will directly depend on the resolution and DirectX used. If the most recent DirectX is selected, and the resolution is 2560×1440 pixels, then at high graphics settings you will get 52 frames / s. Again, the measurement was carried out quite a long time ago, and the enabled ray tracing until mid-January 2019 was too heavy for the computer. There is no doubt that now, close to the above-mentioned FPS can be obtained even when playing in 4K resolution. By the way, if you turn off DXR, the performance of the video card will approximately double.

Advantages

  • There are kits with Athem and Battlefield V games;
  • Artificial intelligence technology is applied;
  • Real-time ray tracing available;
  • Large number of CUDA cores;
  • 11 GB high bandwidth video memory;
  • A large number of connectors include HDMI 2.0b;
  • Power consumption is not prohibitive.

disadvantages

  • Still, not everyone can afford it.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070

Rating: 4.8

NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2070.jpg

Another novelty from NVIDIA. Like the one discussed above, in some stores you can buy a version with a box with a code for downloading Battlefield V and Athem games. Also, this video card also uses two fans, which do an excellent job of cooling the transistors present here. However, this applies to the factory version of the video adapter. Let's not forget that third-party versions of the GeForce RTX 2070 video card are gradually arriving on store shelves – they may have a modified cooling system.

It also uses the Turing architecture. This means that artificial intelligence will be activated in games. You can also enjoy real-time ray tracing. The difference is observed in the block with memory. For the sake of economy, the manufacturer had to reduce the amount of GDDR6 to 8 GB. However, the absolute majority of computer games have enough of this. It's just that you won't have a reserve for the future, that's all. NVIDIA also reduced the memory bus to 256 bits, which reduced the bandwidth to 448 GB / s.

The power of this video card is quite enough for displaying images on four monitors. For this, DisplayPort 1.4, USB Type-C and HDMI 2.0b jacks are used. As for the power supply, it is provided by one 8-pin connector. Already by this fact alone, one can guess about rum, which consumes relatively little video adapter. No, the results of modern budget creations by the same NVIDIA are still a long way off. But 175-185 watts are adequate figures. Such a video card can even be in a computer with a 550 W power supply!

Our today's rating provides examples of video cards in the game Battlefield V. It just so happens that now this is the best benchmark that also supports ray tracing. So, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 shows itself at its best in this shooter. With a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and ultra-graphics settings, the game produces approximately 62 frames / s. But that's only when using DirectX 11! However, when switching to DirectX 12, the result drops by only one or two frames per second. This suggests that the video adapter is ideally optimized for modern technologies. And also tests have shown that there is no point in spending a huge amount if you can get the perfect result even for 50 thousand rubles. We recommend looking towards more expensive models only if you own a 4K monitor. Well, such a video card is unlikely to suit a person who makes money on YouTube. The fact is that only 2304 CUDA cores are built in here, which makes video rendering by no means record-fast.

Advantages

  • A large number of different connectors;
  • Not very high power consumption;
  • Built-in large amount of video memory;
  • Real-time ray tracing is supported;
  • May ship with two games from Electronic Arts.

disadvantages

  • There could be more CUDA cores.

NVIDIA Titan Xp

Rating: 4.8

NVIDIA TITAN XP.jpg

An unexpected representative of our rating, which has the Pascal architecture. This is a very productive specimen, in favor of which some professionals make their choice. It should be noted that its cost does not exceed 100 thousand rubles. It seems that even top video bloggers can spend this amount, not to mention those who are engaged in wedding and studio shooting.

However, even NVIDIA itself states on its website that this solution is by no means only for professionals. In games, the video card also shows itself from the best side. The product's performance has tripled when compared to previous generation adapters. All VR technologies are fully supported here. Well, the cherry on top is 12 GB of video memory, the stream to which is directed over a 384-bit bus. Confused only by the memory standard – here it is GDDR5X.

As befits such a powerful solution, the device will cover two slots on the motherboard. The PCB of this model contains a huge number of transistors. But the presence of 3840 CUDA cores will seem much more important to someone. They allow you to render video at a fairly high speed. Only TITAN V and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, which are sold for completely different money, have higher performance.

DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b connectors are used to output images. For power generation, 8-pin and 6-pin connectors are used. Power consumption of a video card – don't worry, mom, about 250 watts. However, this does not mean that you have to stock up on an expensive kilowatt power supply – a 600 W product is enough.

Perhaps this is a good choice for those who process video on a professional basis. Only the design of the video card can confuse such people. Like many other titans, the device uses only one fan. Do I need to say that under heavy load this 'turntable' starts to make a noticeable noise?

Advantages

  • A very large number of CUDA cores;
  • Built-in 12 GB of video memory;
  • The memory bandwidth reaches 547.7 GB / s;
  • A large number of connectors.

disadvantages

  • High price;
  • At some moments, the video card starts to make noise;
  • There is no support for ray tracing;
  • High power consumption.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Rating: 4.7

NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1080 TI.jpg

This video card closed the GeForce GTX line. We can say that this representative of our rating showed the maximum that the adapters of the tenth series are capable of. This product squeezes absolutely everything out of GDDR5X memory. Also, the manufacturer borrowed the design of his creation from the already mentioned 'titans'. On the one hand, because of this, the device received only one fan, which at certain moments can start to behave quite noisy. On the other hand, more often than not people buy NVIDIA graphics cards made by third parties – they may have a completely different cooling system.

The built-in GPU is made according to the Pascal architecture. It consists of 12 billion transistors. Also, the video card includes 3584 CUDA cores. It is thanks to this number of them that the device is in demand among all kinds of video bloggers, because they are the ones who enjoy fast video rendering most of all.

This model is not trained in real-time ray tracing. But on the other hand, the video card is best suited for connecting VR headsets. Curiously, the owner of this video adapter will be able to use the NVIDIA ANSEL function, making in-game screenshots with a 360-degree viewing angle. This way you can show your friends what exactly you see inside the VR headset. These screenshots can be viewed not only on a computer, but also on a regular smartphone.

This adapter includes 11 GB of video memory. The memory bus bandwidth is 352 bits, which is currently the maximum possible parameter. Although it must be admitted that the memory bandwidth is not ideal. Although 484 GB / s is a lot. Numerous connectors are used to connect monitors and a VR headset – these are HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.4.

Unfortunately, for the production of the video card, not a record thin technical process was used. Because of this, the product consumes up to 250 watts of electricity. This is the level of much more professional solutions! To provide power, two connectors are used – 6-pin and 8-pin.

Don't be surprised that the graphics card allows you to play the WWII 'battle' at very high frame rates. The point is that the lack of real-time ray tracing support dramatically reduces the load. As a result, at a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, DirectX 11 and ultra-graphics settings, you can get an average of 103 frames / s. Even in moments of explosions, the frequency will not fall below 94 frames / s! Of course, these results are correct for a computer with a powerful processor on board. Well, if you decide to display the picture on a TV with a 4K display, then the frequency will drop, but to quite acceptable 60 frames / s. And this with the same ultra-settings!

Advantages

  • Large amount of video memory;
  • Excellent memory bandwidth;
  • A very large number of CUDA cores;
  • There is no shortage of connectors.

disadvantages

  • High power consumption;
  • Ray tracing is not supported;
  • The cost may still seem too high.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

Rating: 4.7

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

The junior representative of the fresh GeForce RTX line. As you know, all video cards included in this series support real-time ray tracing. And this copy also comes with one of the games from Electronic Arts – it could be Anthem or the Battlefield V mentioned more than once in our rating. However, we know how quickly the price of games from EA falls, so this offer can hardly be considered a serious advantage. .

The processor used here is based on the Turing architecture. This means that the user is waiting not only for ray tracing, but also the use of artificial intelligence technology. To cool the GPU, two wide-blade fans are used (in the factory version).

Of course, this model has a number of limitations. For example, it contains only 6 GB of video memory, albeit corresponding to the GDDR6 standard. Data movement is carried out over a 192-bit bus. As a result, the memory bandwidth is only 336 GB / s.

Another product received at its disposal 1920 CUDA cores. Relatively little, but this is still more than the amount that previous generations of video cards could boast, which are now sold several times cheaper. To display the picture on the monitor, USB Type-C, HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.4 and DVI-DL connectors are used. At the same time, you can display the image on four monitors, which is an excellent indicator for a video adapter that is not sold for record money.

Despite its status, the device still turned out to be wide enough, which is why it will take two slots from the motherboard. As for the supply of electricity, it is carried out through one 8-pin connector. As a result, the product only consumes 160 watts. We can safely say that the video card will work even in inexpensive computers equipped with a 500-watt power supply.

Traditionally, we will mention the results of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 video card in Battlefield V. When choosing a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, DirectX 11 and high settings, you should expect an FPS of 79 frames / s. If you activate ray tracing, then the result is reduced to 35-36 frames / s. This suggests that a minimum number of RT cores are built into the video adapter, which are responsible for this function. In a word, buying this video card for the sake of enjoying new effects from lighting and reflections is definitely not worth it. Unless you are going to play on a monitor with a resolution Full HD for a few more years, where the FPS will be quite satisfactory.

Advantages

  • Ray tracing is supported;
  • Decent number of CUDA cores
  • All the most needed connectors are present;
  • Quite low power consumption;
  • Free EA game included.

disadvantages

  • Not the largest amount of video memory;
  • Not the best memory bus bandwidth;
  • It is best not to enable ray tracing at high resolution.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti

Rating: 4.7

NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1070 TI.jpg

It must be this representative of our rating that is now the most accessible for ordinary players. Firstly, finding a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in stores is much easier than more powerful models (some of them are just getting ready for the official start of sales). Secondly, the cost of this video card is about 35 thousand rubles. That is, in terms of its price tag, it is as close as possible to a modern game console, with which it needs to be compared. Thirdly, third-party manufacturers have been in a hurry for a long time – their solutions were presented by MSI, PALIT and some other companies.

Most of all, this video card will appeal to owners of VR headsets. The performance of this solution is quite enough to produce two high-resolution images. And one cannot but pay attention to the fact that only one fan is enough for the device. However, third-party manufacturers can provide the adapter with a different cooling system – with a larger number of “turntables”, but noticeably quieter.

Despite the relatively low cost, the video card offers as much as 2,432 CUDA cores. That is why many video bloggers who were not ready to spend money on a more expensive GTX 1080 made their choice in favor of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti.

It should be noted that the graphics adapter included 8 GB of video memory of the GDDR5 standard. At the same time, the manufacturer provided a bandwidth of 256 GB / s (using a 256-bit bus). In short, there is no shortage of video memory, especially if you are not using a 4K-resolution monitor yet.

Actually, if we talk about the display, then HDMI 2.0b, DisplayPort 1.4 and DL-DVI are used for image output. The maximum picture can be achieved with a resolution of 7680×4320 pixels and a frequency of 60 Hz. This is, of course, in theory. In fact, FPS with this parameter will mercilessly sag not only in games, but also in ordinary applications.

The width of the video adapter is very large, the product will precisely cover two slots. Power is supplied via an 8-pin connector. At peak load times, the video card consumes 180 watts. Perhaps this is its only serious drawback. The manufacturer claims that a 500W power supply will be sufficient for a computer with this adapter, but we would recommend considering a slightly more powerful unit.

As you know, the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti does not support ray tracing, so even with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and DirectX 12, it shows very good results in Battlefield V. When choosing ultra settings, the average FPS is 70 frames / s. Needless to say that many gamers do not need more, since they do not have at their disposal a monitor with support for frequencies above this parameter?

Advantages

  • A very large number of CUDA cores;
  • Decent amount of video memory;
  • Good memory bus;
  • All the most needed connectors are present;
  • The price cannot be called prohibitive.

disadvantages

  • No support for ray tracing;
  • Sufficiently high power consumption.

Best NVIDIA Graphics Cards for Laptops

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Mobile

Rating: 4.9

NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2080 (MOBILE) .jpg

Of course, a powerful graphics chip based on the Turing architecture could not ignore laptops. However, the prime cost of this product is very high, so it is hardly worth waiting for the appearance of at least some affordable notebooks with such a chip in the coming years. Apparently, while the mobile version of the GeForce RTX 2080 will be received exclusively by top-end gaming machines, the cost of which starts from 180-200 thousand rubles.

So far we can only build theory about this video card. The fact is that the chip was announced quite recently. This means that we still know very few of its characteristics. Well, the mass production of laptops equipped with it will have to wait about six months. Nevertheless, at the time of compiling the rating, it is known that the product must receive support for video memory of the GDDR6 standard, data from which is read over a 256-bit bus. Also, the chip should receive 2944 shader processors. The video card will operate at a frequency of 1380 MHz, and if necessary, it will be possible to activate the Boost mode, in which the frequency will rise to 1590 MHz.

Alas, the product has not yet been tested in the most recent 'battle'. However, there is no doubt that the chip will definitely pull this game at ultra-graphics settings and when displaying images at 4K. And it will not just pull, but will do it with a frequency of at least 60 frames / s. Whether or not ray tracing is enabled is still in question.

Advantages

  • There is support for ray tracing;
  • 2944 CUDA cores must be present;
  • Frequency increase up to 1590 MHz is possible;
  • Large amount of video memory;
  • A good memory bus must be used.

disadvantages

  • Power consumption at peak times will be 150 W;
  • Laptops with such a GPU will be terribly expensive.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Mobile

Rating: 4.8

NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2070 (MOBILE) .jpg

Of course, NVIDIA could not do with just the announcement of a top-end graphics processor. Simultaneously with the aforementioned model, mobile versions of the GeForce RTX 2070 and GeForce RTX 2060 were presented. The second chip seems to be the least interesting, although it pleases with a power consumption not exceeding 90 W, which would allow playing even without connecting the laptop to an outlet. As for the GeForce RTX 2070, this video card will consume from 80 to 115 watts, depending on the load. In a word, many laptops with such a chip will provide an opportunity to start the game only when the battery is fully charged or after connecting the network adapter.

So far in stores you can find only one laptop equipped with the GPU announced in January. The novelty was named Gigabyte Aero 15-X9. It was with her help that some publications tested the mobile version of the GeForce RTX 2070. However, a lot remained unclear. How does the GPU behave when displaying an image at an increased resolution? The fact is that the laptop screen has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, which seems to be an insufficient parameter by today's standards. It is clear that the GPU can easily cope with Battlefield V at this resolution, even with ray tracing enabled – the laptop produces over 50 frames / s. However, when switching to ultra settings, serious FPS drops begin. All this is relevant when the neighborhood is not the most powerful processor.

Video bloggers should love the fact that the product received 2304 CUDA cores. As for the frequency, it can reach 1440 MHz for a video card. But if you want to play outside the house, then it is better to avoid turning on the Boost mode – in this case, the frequency will be limited to 1185 MHz.

In a word, the chip turned out to be very good. Of course, even this will not be the cheapest way to see the effect of ray tracing. However, it is the laptops equipped with it that will cope with this mode of operation in games without a strong drop in the frame rate – the GeForce RTX 2060 will perform much worse.

Advantages

  • Ray tracing is supported;
  • Decent number of CUDA cores
  • High frequency;
  • A large amount of GDDR6 memory must be present;
  • Optimal energy consumption.

disadvantages

  • Laptops with such a GPU would be very expensive.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Mobile

Rating: 4.8

NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1080 (MOBILE) .jpg

When it comes to notebooks on sale now, almost all of them have a GPU at their disposal that does not support ray tracing. In particular, if you want to buy a gaming laptop for 100-150 thousand rubles, you will most likely get a version with a mobile version of the GeForce GTX 1080. It should be noted that this GPU is quite different from its desktop counterpart. Do not expect from it extremely fast video rendering and high FPS in games at ultra-settings. However, it all depends on the configuration of a particular laptop and the chosen game.

First, let's take a look at the characteristics of the next representative of our rating. In fact, the mobile version of the GeForce GTX 1080 consists of a processor clocked at 1566 to 1733 MHz. Of course, in Boost mode, power consumption increases greatly, so it is recommended to use it only when the laptop is connected to the mains. Also, such a video card is capable of boasting GDDR5X memory, the volume of which in most laptops is 8 GB. Interaction with it is carried out via a 256-bit bus, which can also be considered an excellent parameter.

This chip belongs to the Pascal architecture, like the graphics processor that is included in the desktop version. It contains 7.2 billion transistors. However, even this may not be enough for the perfect launch of some modern games. However, GTA V at high graphics settings comes with an average frame rate of 71 fps when it comes to resolution Full HD. Problems are caused by the third 'The Witcher' – at maximum settings and a resolution of 1080p, it can only be played at a frequency of 41 fps. The mobile version of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 was once the ideal in the laptop world. But now the palm belongs to this GPU. Nevertheless, its capabilities will definitely suit fans of 'tanks' and other games that do not require a top-end computer.

Advantages

  • Used fast GDDR5X memory;
  • Good bit capacity of the memory bus;
  • High clock speed;
  • Large amount of video memory;
  • The laptop can be equipped with HDMI 2.0b and DisplayPort 1.4;
  • Large number of CUDA cores.

disadvantages

  • Consumes up to 165 W;
  • No support for ray tracing;
  • Laptops with this GPU are usually quite expensive.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Mobile

Rating: 4.7

NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 980 (MOBILE) .jpeg

If we can say about the previous representatives of our rating that they are unlikely to become obsolete in the coming years, then the mobile version of the GeForce GTX 980 will soon cease to meet the requirements of many gamers. However, if you know for sure that you will only be using the gaming laptop for one or two years, then you can consider buying a model with the above video adapter.

Unfortunately, this GPU is only made using a 28nm process technology. We can safely say that it is unlikely that NVIDIA will ever return to it. Despite the fact that this graphics processor has been around for several years, it supports DirectX 12. And the product is also capable of delighting 2048 CUDA cores. This suggests that a laptop equipped with this video card is ideal for a person who regularly does video editing.

The GPU runs at a clock speed of 1126 MHz. Like its counterparts released later, this GPU supports automatic frequency increase. Also announced to work with traditional NVIDIA technologies – PhysX and G-Sync. Data from video memory is read over a 256-bit bus. As for its volume, it can be different – it all depends on a particular laptop. The maximum support for such a video card is 8 GB, which is more than enough for most games. However, many laptop manufacturers prefer to create a cheaper product, ultimately opting for a GeForce GTX 980 with half the volume. It remains to add that the memory belongs to the GDDR5 standard.

This graphics adapter copes well with games if the image is displayed on a display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. For example, DOOM will deliver at least 84 fps, Hitman will deliver 61 fps, The Division will deliver 68 fps, and Star Wars Battlefront will deliver over 100 fps. But already from these results it is clear that it makes sense to display a picture on a monitor with 4K resolution only if you are going to run FIFA or something similar.

Advantages

  • A very large number of CUDA cores;
  • Sufficiently high clock frequency;
  • Good memory bus width;
  • Laptops with this GPU are not always expensive.

disadvantages

  • Most often has a small amount of video memory;
  • High power consumption;
  • No support for ray tracing;
  • Doesn't work well when outputting 4K resolution images.

The best NVIDIA graphics cards for servers

NVIDIA Quadro RTX 6000

Rating: 4.9

NVIDIA QUADRO RTX 6000.png

Our rating could not do without video cards designed for installation inside the server. These models are often called graphics stations. This is due to the fact that such devices are used for professional purposes. For example, Pixar studio uses them to render frames for their cartoons. Other studios can use similar solutions to create special effects. And, of course, such powerful graphics adapters are perfect for video editing. But is it really necessary to say that such video cards are terribly expensive? However, what else could you expect from devices that show the maximum of what modern NVIDIA creations are capable of?

The most powerful video card at the time of the rating is Quadro RTX 6000. As the name implies, the device supports ray tracing (this is done by the RT cores). This monster costs about $ 6,300. Such a purchase is affordable only for professionals who earn a lot of money. It makes no sense to check such a video card in games, unless just for the sake of curiosity.

The power consumption of the Quadro RTX 6000 reaches 295W – even server processors Intel use less power. The product includes 4608 CUDA cores – it is simply impossible to fit more of them on such a small device. At least until NVIDIA has learned to create them at an even more subtle level. This model also received 24 GB of GDDR6 video memory.

The manufacturer claims that the performance of his creation reaches 16.3 teraflops. It seems that this is quite enough to simultaneously display a picture on four monitors, and even with a high resolution. By the way, only DisplayPort 1.4 connectors are used for this. The product also received a VirtualLink jack (actually USB Type-C) – it is used to transfer images to a virtual reality headset.

As usual, these video cards can be combined into one common array. The corresponding bridge costs $ 80 – also not cheap.

Advantages

  • Huge computing power;
  • Large number of DisplayPort connectors;
  • Astronomical video memory;
  • Excellent memory bus width;
  • Large number of CUDA cores;
  • There is support for ray tracing.

disadvantages

  • Incredibly high power consumption
  • The cooling system is not quiet;
  • Very high cost.

It is much easier to purchase this video card. If the flagship is produced in limited quantities, then Quadro P6000 can be found in many Russian stores. The price tag, of course, also bites – it reaches 400 thousand rubles. For this money, you get a massive product, which includes 3,840 universal processors. Of course, such a video card supports DirectX 12. It can display a picture with a resolution of 7680×4320 pixels to its maximum. It is possible to connect four monitors at the same time using DisplayPort connectors.

This video card is not new. Therefore, you shouldn't be surprised that the video memory included in it complies with the GDDR5X standard. Its volume is 24 GB, which should suit any professional. Interaction with memory is carried out via, as you might guess, 384-bit bus.

In fact, the Quadro P6000 video card has no particular drawbacks, if you forget about the astronomical price tag. Yes, there is no ray tracing support here. But if you are not a game developer, you are unlikely to be disappointed. And even when developing games, this video adapter can find many uses – for example, it can be used to create 3D objects. Perhaps, you can find fault with this video card only about its power consumption. It reaches 250 watts. Of course, the 'turntable' cooling hot chip can make a noticeable noise. But this is not important, because the adapter will be installed in the server, which by itself will definitely not be quiet.

Advantages

  • Very high clock speed;
  • An incredibly large number of general purpose processors;
  • A large number of connectors;
  • Huge amount of video memory;
  • Good memory bus.

disadvantages

  • Very high cost;
  • Power consumption reaches 250 watts.

NVIDIA Quadro P4000

Rating: 4.8

One of the most inexpensive graphics stations among those intended for use inside the server. For this model in Russian stores they ask about 70 thousand rubles. Of course, for that kind of money, you shouldn't expect to get some kind of monster capable of delivering perfect graphics at the maximum frame rate. The manufacturer's savings are noticeable at least in the amount of video memory, which is only 8 GB. And it belongs only to the GDDR5 standard. I am glad that at least the memory bus is 256-bit here – this provides a bandwidth of 243 GB / s.

The product includes only 1,792 CUDA cores. Also on the video card, you can find four DisplayPort 1.4 connectors. The manufacturer promises that there will be no problems even if the connected monitors have 5K resolution.

The video card operates at a clock frequency of 1227 MHz. If you activate the Boost mode, then this parameter rises to an impressive 1480 MHz. I am glad that the components used here do not consume a very large amount of energy – only about 105 watts. This means that a computer with one such graphics card can use a modest 450W power supply.

Many people buy this video adapter not only for professional purposes, but also for running games. Why not? The video card is more affordable than many analogues from the GeForce RTX series, while it is not much inferior to them. Also at one time it was an excellent option for mining cryptocurrency.

Advantages

  • High clock speed;
  • Good memory bandwidth;
  • A large number of connectors;
  • Low power consumption;
  • Only takes up one slot;
  • The cost cannot be called prohibitive.

disadvantages

  • No RT cores;
  • The number of CUDA cores may seem insufficient;
  • Only 5K resolution is supported at maximum.

Conclusion

This is a list of the best NVIDIA video cards available at the time of this writing. Please note that we were talking about the most productive solutions. This time we did not divide the devices by price segments. Therefore, the purchase of any of the reviewed video adapters will cost a very large amount. Well, video cards for laptops are not sold separately at all. But you can always buy the laptop itself, focusing on our selection!
