Eyelash extensions are a popular method of modeling the look. The strength of the adhesive composition is enough for the artificial villi to serve for a month, but not every girl manages to walk away with them for the prescribed period. Our journalists interviewed professional lashmakers and found out how to wash with extended eyelashes without the risk of bald spots or eye inflammation.
Rules of conduct on the first day after the procedure
Although the glue for building is completely soluble only with liquids intended for this purpose, experts recommend avoiding any contact with water or steam for 24 hours after visiting the master. On the first day, the fixing composition is gaining strength. During this period, contact with moisture will reduce the reliability of the adhesion of the substance to the hairs, which will increase the risk of their premature detachment. For this reason, visits to swimming pools, saunas or showers are prohibited.

Take a cleanser in your palm, lather. Pat it over your face, avoiding the eyelids.

Close your eyes. Use your fingertips to trace along the growth of the upper lash line (from roots to tips). Then repeat the movement along the bottom row. Make sure the skin between the hairs is clean and free from makeup.

Wash without touching your eyelash extensions.

You cannot wipe your face. You can only lightly blot the skin with a lint-free towel or disposable paper towel. The eyelashes should dry on their own. Wet villi should not be combed or self-rubbing with caring gels.
Acceptable cleansers
The key criterion for choosing a product for washing with extended eyelashes is the absence of oils and any fat extracts in its composition. Lashmakers call the most suitable means:

Micellar water. Absolutely safe for glue, does not damage adhesions and does not deform villi if you do not rub your eyes with a cotton pad. Shake the micellar water bottle to remove makeup and impurities with minimal impact on the lashes. Treat the areas requiring cleansing with the resulting foam, then rinse your face with water.

Foam for washing. It has a neutral composition, therefore it is suitable for eyelash extensions. The product is not effective for waterproof cosmetics.

Hydrolates. Distillates of plant extracts delicately remove impurities, care for the delicate skin of the eyelids, and are safe for the adhesive composition of extended eyelashes. They use hydrolatates in the same way as micellar water.

Gels. Only water-based products are allowed.

Lotions, tonics. Products with oily components (two-phase liquids, hydrophilic oils for washing, mousses with olive extracts, etc.) are prohibited.
Soap is a powerful mucosal irritant. Washing with it can result in hair loss.
Bathing and shampooing rules
Avoid direct contact with water jets on your face while showering. The lather of the shampoo will not damage the adhesions, but the burning sensation that can occur from contact with alkali will provoke reflex scratching of the eyes. Aggressive friction will compromise the integrity of the hairs.

If you do not have the strength to endure the itching, you need to open the eye and touch the irritated area with your fingernail smoothly, without sudden movements. Keep your eyelash extensions exposed to minimal mechanical stress.

Refrain from contact with sea or chlorinated water. It significantly reduces the wear period of the extended hairs. When traveling to the sea or going to the pool, do not dive.

Avoid saunas. Hot steam will negatively affect the strength of the glue of the eyelash extensions. Those who want to extend the life of artificial hairs should postpone the bath procedures to a later period.
