8 tips for severely exfoliating nails – expert material

LIFE HACK

If nails exfoliate, the girl can no longer feel 100% confident. After all, such a cosmetic defect negatively affects the appearance, makes it complete and doubt its own attractiveness. Since peeling nails are a fairly common problem, journalists decided to find out what ways there are to deal with it. In this article, you will find a description of the probable causes of the defect and the most effective methods for eliminating it.

Strongly exfoliate nails – symptoms and characteristics of pathology

Reasons why nails break

Nails are plates that are made of horny tissue and cover the tips of the fingers and toes. They are capable of regular renewal and self-healing, growing back, even a damaged nail acquires a normal structure. But this is not always the case. Sometimes the stratum corneum undergo dystrophic changes. Such changes are characterized by the fact that the marigolds become thinner, split into separate layers or layers.

Do you want to understand if the nails really exfoliate or you just accidentally damaged the plates? Pay attention to the structure of all marigolds – if all of them have persistent violations of integrity, splitting of the nail plates into separate scales that peel off in layers, then this is a systemic problem, and not an accidental one-time damage that led to stratification of the stratum corneum.

If the nails exfoliate, additional signs arise:

  1. Increased dryness and fragility. The nails are very fragile and cannot withstand the slightest mechanical stress.

  2. The surface of the plates is rough and whitish.

  3. The healthy shine, the so-called natural gloss, is missing.

  4. The growth of nails is slowed down several times, that is, the growth rate is less than the standard 0.1-0.12 millimeters per day.

  5. If the nails exfoliate, the disease can take three forms:

  6. The plates are split along the nail – from its base to the tip. This form of the disease is called onychorexis.

  7. Nails exfoliate in the transverse direction, as a rule, only the free edge of the plate is affected, but the process can also occur on the bed, which is adjacent to the terminal phalanx of the finger.

  8. The most severe form of the disease is complete or partial detachment of the plate from the bed. This pathology is called onycholysis.

  9. If the nails exfoliate strongly, this is not only a cosmetic defect, but also the reason for the occurrence of unnecessary psycho-emotional experiences and a decrease in the quality of life of a woman who wants to always look healthy and well-groomed.

Reasons that nails exfoliate, ways to eliminate them

Nails never begin to exfoliate for no reason. Of course, a person may have an innate tendency to develop such a defect. However, in most cases this is a symptom of some kind of disturbance in the work of internal organs or systems. Those specialists who practice the methods of oriental medicine, when making a diagnosis, are guided mainly by the condition of the nail plates, skin, tongue and whites of the eyes in order to find out which pathological processes are taking place in the patient's body. However, the problem with the nail plates can arise not only due to disorders in the body. Also, nails often exfoliate in those people who expose them to the negative effects of external factors.

Reasons for the fact that nails exfoliate

External reasons that the nails exfoliate

Let's consider what can cause the problem, and let's start with possible external (exogenous) influences:

  1. Negative conditions of professional activity. Nails are composed of layers of keratin, making them strong and elastic. There are layers of moisture and fat between the keratin layers. Normally, the structure of the nails is characterized by increased strength, the layers adhere tightly to each other, there are not even the smallest gaps between them. If you often come into contact with toxic, corrosive, abrasive substances, and do not use special protection (do not wear gloves), nails can begin to exfoliate very quickly. After all, an aggressive effect forms between the layers of the nail plates, first small cracks, gaps, which then transform into cavities, as a result of which the nails exfoliate. Even vapors of corrosive chemicals can damage the nail plate. Therefore, wearing gloves is a prerequisite for protecting hand tissues.

  2. Also, the reason that the nails exfoliate can be professional diseases of musicians who play keyboards or string instruments.

  3. Housewives often have very strong nails. Women who provide a comfortable family life often come into contact with water, household chemicals, alkaline solutions, hot and cold water, damage marigolds while working in the garden or in the vegetable garden. In this case, in order to eliminate the problem, you can use an integrated approach. The first thing to do is start using rubber gloves. They should correspond to the size of the hands so that the fingers are not cramped, the tissues are not pinched and do not suffer from oxygen deficiency. Second, you can replace household chemicals with safer cleaning products.

  4. Nails often exfoliate in those who, for one reason or another, constantly expose them to mechanical stress and trauma (bruises, compression, etc.).

  5. Nails exfoliate in women and men who have the habit of picking, scraping, tearing off something with nails, and not with tools intended for this. If you smoke, this bad habit has an equally negative effect on the condition of the marigolds. Also, another type of bad habit that leads to stratification is biting nails with teeth in stressful situations.

  6. The use of low-quality or cheap decorative / care products for nails and manicure can also cause the plates to exfoliate strongly. Consider this if you regularly use products that promote dehydration and degreasing of the nail plates:

  7. Nail polishes that contain formaldehyde or its derivatives.

  8. Solvents for varnish, which contain acetone or this substance itself in pure form.

  9. Polymeric preparations for building or correcting the shape of the nail plates.

Also, the reason that the nails exfoliate can be:

  1. Violation of the technique for removing the resistant polymer coating. The use of sharp metal objects; removing the coating in the direction from the free edge to the base; strong pressure with the instrument on the plate bed; excessive cutting of the coating with a nail file or buff; independent use of the device for cutting off gel polish.

  2. Violations when performing hygienic manicure. Improper processing of nail plates with manicure tools. For example, filing the free edge with a nail file when the nails are wet or wet; file movements from left to right (or vice versa), while the tool needs to be moved only in one direction.

Abdominal pain

Internal reasons that the nails exfoliate

Let's consider what internal, that is, endogenous factors can contribute to the problem.

If the nails are exfoliating, this may be a sign of an independent problem, for example, a disease of the nails and closely spaced tissues. Usually, toenails suffer more from fungus, since it is there that ideal conditions for the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms are created – it is dark, warm, humid when the feet are in shoes. But the fungus can also affect the nails on the hands, as well as the skin around them. To effectively get rid of the disease and eliminate the reason for the exfoliation of the nails, only the use of special antimycotic drugs, which the doctor should prescribe after the diagnosis, will help.

Also, if the nails exfoliate strongly, this can be part of a symptom complex with a variety of dermatoses, diseases of internal organs or somatic pathologies:

  1. Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

  2. Diseases of the liver, biliary tract.

  3. Disorders in the endocrine system.

  4. Iron deficiency in the body.

  5. Eczema.

  6. Red lichen.

  7. Psoriasis.

  8. Disturbances in the work of the central nervous system.

  9. Also, the nails of people who have been exposed to internal or external intoxication – food, chemical, medicinal – are strongly exfoliated.

Often, the reason that the nails exfoliate is an unbalanced or simply poor diet. If you are on a diet, suffer from anorexia or bulimia, lose weight, eat poorly, have snacks mainly in catering establishments, the condition of the nail plates will change for the worse. To fix the situation, change your lifestyle, make your diet more varied. You should not have a howl of vitamin deficiency, hypovitaminosis, deficiency of protein, magnesium, calcium, sulfur, silicon, zinc, phosphorus, selenium.

Non-compliance with the drinking regime is one of the likely causes of a cosmetic defect. If your nails are peeling, think about whether you drink enough clean water throughout the day? Juices, teas, compotes, soda do not count, as well as liquid culinary dishes like soups. All of the above is perceived by the body as food, since it has a taste, smell, color, a composition different from water. At the same time, the human body needs just ordinary water (including mineral water without gas), otherwise dehydration may occur. In a chronic form, this state of the body is reflected primarily on the skin, hair and nails. These organs suffer from moisture deficiency, as it is directed primarily to vital structures. As a result, the nails become dry, more easily amenable to negative influences, and eventually begin to exfoliate. In order not to bring your body to dehydration, you need to drink at least 1.5 liters of clean water per day. If your physical activity is increased, you are doing hard work or sports, drink more water – about 2.5 liters. If you periodically have a thirst, it means that you need to quench it with pure water. It is especially useful to drink water at room temperature immediately after waking up, half an hour before the first meal.

female doctor

Nails exfoliate strongly – diagnostics and complex treatment will help

The first thing to do, as soon as you find that there is a problem, is to seek help from a doctor – a therapist, dermatologist or mycologist. This must be done in order to find out the exact causes of the pathology. After all, if you start treatment without knowing what contributed to the damage to the nail plates, you will not be able to quickly get rid of the cosmetic defect.

The doctor may prescribe the following diagnostic measures:

  1. Laboratory tests to identify infection with pathogenic microorganisms.

  2. Spectral analysis of tissues for trace elements.

  3. Blood tests – both general and biochemical.

Also, if the doctor does not have the data for making an accurate diagnosis, he can refer you to other narrow specialists, prescribe a full examination of the body. After the differential diagnosis, a comprehensive treatment will be prescribed, which may include the following components:

  1. Taking medications for the treatment of the disease, against the background of which there was a problem with the nails.

  2. Salon procedures – sealing of nail plates, strengthening with gel.

  3. Reception of vitamin and mineral complexes, food supplements, dietary supplements and other phytopreparations.

  4. Normalization of the diet.

  5. Treatment with paraffin therapy or natural wax.

  6. Ozokerite.

  7. The use of natural healing mud.

  8. Apparatus physiotherapy, for example, diathermy, ultraphonophoresis with vitamins A, E.

  9. Non-hardware physiotherapy – massage, including the one that you can do yourself at home.

  10. Hand baths.

  11. Using local cosmetics – oils, serums, creams.

proper nutrition

If your nails are peeling, normalizing your diet and lifestyle will help

When your nails are flaking, you need to start by improving your overall health. If you underwent an examination that did not reveal the presence of serious diseases that could cause the problem, then you can change your lifestyle a little for the better and not resort to drug therapy.

What can be done to ensure that the nails that exfoliate come to their normal state:

  1. The most important thing is to provide the body with all the necessary vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats and carbohydrates through food. Food is the main source of nutrients, including those that the human body cannot produce. For example, polyunsaturated fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6 are not synthesized by our body systems, but they are present in fish oil. These substances are very beneficial for hair, skin and nails, especially those that exfoliate and suffer from other disorders. Experts, in particular cosmetologists, advise to consume more greens, cereals, vegetable fats, fermented milk products. As well as lean meat, fish (including seafood), vegetables, fruits, fresh juices. There are habits that can be useful to give up. You should stop or limit the consumption of salty, spicy, smoked, fried, sweet foods. Snacks on the go and in catering establishments are highly undesirable.

  2. The second important point is compliance with the drinking regime. The use of sugary carbonated drinks, coffee, black tea should be limited. It is better to give preference to ordinary drinking water, as well as green tea, herbal decoctions, fruit drinks and compotes.

  3. Rejection of bad habits. Such a step may not seriously affect the condition of the nails, which exfoliate strongly, but the general improvement of the body will produce a positive effect. Therefore, if you smoke or consume excessive amounts of strong alcohol, it is better to leave these bad habits in the past.

  4. Build good habits. Take care of the flaking nails more carefully than you would normally. Also, increase your physical activity, especially if you lead a sedentary lifestyle. As a result, the general condition of the body will improve, which will affect the health of the nail plates.

  5. Also, do not forget to take care of the state of your nervous system. If there are any significant violations in this regard, it will not fail to affect the condition of the nails. Try to get enough sleep, not overwork, avoid stress, conflicts.

Pills

Taking vitamin and mineral complexes, food supplements, dietary supplements and other phytopreparations

If you tell the doctor that your nails are exfoliating, then, most likely, as part of complex therapy, he will prescribe you to take special vitamin and mineral complexes. Taking such pharmaceuticals is helping the body from the inside. Having eliminated the deficiency of nutrients, you will see that the nails exfoliate much less. And if, together with taking drugs, you use other methods of treatment, external effects on tissues, the problem can be eliminated completely.

The choice of vitamin and mineral supplements must be approached responsibly, since the complex must be well balanced and focused on improving, first of all, nails, hair and skin. Before buying a drug, discuss your decision with your doctor. Doctors often prescribe to patients who have severely exfoliated nails, such vitamin-mineral complexes:

  1. Alphabet.

  2. Olidetrim Omega.

  3. 21 Centuty Hair, skin and nails (improved formulation).

  4. Duovit.

  5. Vitamin complex AE.

  6. Natubiotin.

  7. Solgar Complex for Skin, Nails and Hair (improved formula with MSM).

  8. Vitrum.

  9. Pharma Group Handmade Omega 3 Complex.

  10. Supradin.

  11. Complies with vitamin D3.

  12. Cortez hair, skin, nails.

  13. Solgar.

  14. Phytomishki.

  15. Doppelhertz vitamins for nails.

  16. Amrita balance Beauty Balance – radiant skin, strong nails, luxurious hair.

  17. Amrita balance Fameli.

  18. Brewer's yeast capsules.

Tea

In addition to vitamins and minerals, you can take monopreparations that are designed to improve the condition of nails, for example, collagen, calcium, Vitamins A and E, magnesium, zinc, iron, etc.

Herbal teas are also very popular among people who have exfoliated nails. They can replace regular black tea or coffee – the process of getting rid of the problem will go faster. For example, you can buy the following herbal remedies:

  1. The power of Russian herbs is tea to strengthen nails and hair growth.

  2. Avita is a kind heart of nature – tea for nail restoration and hair growth.

  3. Dr. Seleznev – herbal tea number 1 to strengthen nails and hair growth.

There are many other herbal remedies on sale in different forms of release – teas, balms, tablets and capsules. You can take one or more remedies if your nails are peeling too much and you want to speed up the healing process. The main thing is to consult with a specialist and observe the dosages recommended in the instructions.

Hardware physiotherapy – diathermy, phonophoresis with vitamins A, E

If the nails are strongly exfoliated, hardware physiotherapy will help to quickly normalize their condition. Such medical activities are carried out by a specialist as prescribed by a doctor in a clinic that is equipped with the appropriate equipment.

The most popular physiotherapy methods prescribed for patients who have exfoliated nails are diathermy and phonophoresis. Consider what their benefits are and why, after undergoing treatment, the nails exfoliate much less.

Diathermy, which is also known in medical circles as endothermy, thermopenetration is a technique that is based on the heating of tissues with a high frequency electric current. The effectiveness of the procedure is as follows:

  1. The current that passes through biological tissues intensifies the movement of ions. As a result, the lymphatic system works more efficiently, inflammation is eliminated, and toxins that poison tissues and prevent their recovery are eliminated.

  2. The current contributes to the fact that the vessels expand, a larger volume of blood flows to the tissues, the supply of oxygen and nutrients increases, healing proceeds faster, and the degree of pain that can occur in the fingers decreases if the nails are strongly exfoliated in the longitudinal direction.

  3. The procedure is painless, the patient practically does not feel the effect of the current.

  4. Ultraphonophoresis with vitamins A, E is a technique for introducing drugs into deep tissue layers using an ultrasound machine. Accordingly, this procedure is highly effective, since useful components, in our case vitamins A and E, go directly to the focus of the disease. Ultraphonophoresis is prescribed for patients whose nails exfoliate due to local problems.

Non-hardware physiotherapy - massage,

Non-hardware physiotherapy – massage, including one that you can do yourself at home

Nail massage is a simple procedure that can be carried out at home or at work, allotting only 5-10 minutes for it. Massage sessions are especially effective in the morning and before bed. But you can spend them in the middle of the day, when there is a free minute.

How to massage your fingers if your nails are peeling:

  1. Wash your hands, if possible – treat with an antiseptic.

  2. Apply a small amount of moisturizer, vegetable oil, or massage product to your fingers.

  3. Grasp the tip of your other hand with your thumb, forefinger, and middle finger.

  4. Make stroking, squeezing movements in the area of nail growth.

  5. Massage the rest of your fingers, then do the procedure on the other hand.

  6. Wash your hands, apply a nail nourishment.

If you often deal with typing, play the piano, this can also be considered a massage method. Just make sure that the nails that exfoliate are carefully trimmed so that when in contact with a hard surface, their structure is not even more damaged.

Salon procedures – sealing of nail plates, strengthening with gel

If the nails exfoliate, then you can give them first aid, stop the process of destruction of the stratum corneum and protect them from negative external influences. The beauty salon can offer you two cosmetic methods:

  1. Sealing of nails, which involves applying a special preparation to the nail plates. This substance will cover the marigolds with a thin transparent film for 2-3 weeks. You can use this time to heal the body and eliminate the causes of the aesthetic defect. Also, during this period, the free edges of the marigolds will have time to grow, there is a high probability that the condition of the grown nail will be satisfactory.

  2. Strengthening with gel. This technique also helps protect vulnerable tissues from negative effects. The advantages of the gel are that it lasts longer – up to four weeks, and also makes it possible to perform colored decor, that is, to make a full-fledged manicure, despite the fact that the nails are strongly exfoliated.

These salon procedures also have disadvantages. After sealing or strengthening with gel, you will not be able to treat your nails with topical preparations. The protective coating creates a barrier not only for negative factors, but also for nutrients or restorative substances that cannot enter the nail plate.

Paraffin therapy is a quick way to grow long nails

If the nails are peeling, treatment with paraffin, ozokerite or natural wax will help.

One of the most effective methods of therapy in case of strong exfoliation of nails is heat treatment, thermal procedures. Heat carriers in this case can be different preparations – paraffin, ozokerite, natural beeswax. Various additives can be added to these substances – oils, extracts and extracts from medicinal plants, liquid vitamins in capsules or ampoules. Additional additives increase the effectiveness of medical procedures, since the tissues are affected not only by heat, but nutrients penetrate into them, healing and restoring their structure.

But even if no additional components are added to the heat carriers, there will still be three factors of influence at once – thermal, physical and chemical:

  1. The melted heat carrier covers the fabrics with a dense layer, through which air does not penetrate. The substance gradually gives off heat to the nail plates and the skin and subcutaneous structures. Warming the skin produces a variety of interrelated physiological responses. Thanks to this effect, blood circulation and lymph drainage are improved, metabolic processes are activated, tissues receive more nutrients and oxygen, which come through the bloodstream. After the procedure, the excretory function of the tissues improves, due to which there is a cleansing of toxins and waste products.

  2. The airtight film creates a greenhouse effect on the skin. The skin sweats, releasing moisture. But it cannot evaporate and is absorbed back, leaving all harmful substances on the surface of the protective layer. Thanks to this, the moisture content of the skin remains at the proper level.

  3. Cooling down, the heat carrier contracts, resulting in a double effect of massage and compression. Massage enhances the effect of heat.

  4. Under a dense cover of paraffin, wax or ozokerite, the pores of the skin open, not only the excretory function improves, but also the flow of nutrients into the deep layers of tissues. Therefore, for heat treatment, it is most advisable to use beeswax, which has a rich component composition.

It turns out that heat treatment can be used not only when the nails exfoliate, but also as a prevention of such a problem. The only drawback of this type of effect on tissues is the presence of contraindications that may be present in some groups of people:

  1. In pregnant women.

  2. In people with fever, fever, general poor health.

  3. In people who are prone to frequent and / or uncontrolled bleeding.

  4. In those who suffer from severe atherosclerosis.

  5. Those with impaired circulation in the limbs.

  6. In people diagnosed with malignant neoplasms.

If you have no contraindications, and you are not afraid to work with hot materials, you can begin to treat nails that exfoliate strongly with paraffin, wax or ozokerite.

How to use paraffin or wax to strengthen flaky nails

What can be used for heat treatment:

  1. Regular cosmetic paraffin wax that can be bought at the pharmacy. It is generally sold in large bars. In order not to subject the substance to repeated melting, it is recommended to divide the bar into small pieces of about 30-50 grams from the very beginning – this is how much paraffin will be needed for one cosmetic procedure. If your nails are peeling badly, you will need to do 5 to 10 heat therapy sessions, so you use all the paraffin without residue. But this drug, if there are no special additives in it, is inexpensive, on average – 100-200 rubles.

  2. Special paraffin, to which the manufacturers have added additional components – chocolate, oils, vitamins and plant extracts. Such a remedy can cost a lot, but the pleasure from the procedure will be significant, since there will be a combination of thermal procedures and aromatherapy.

  3. Regular beeswax that you can buy at the store. However, it is better to purchase such a substance directly from the manufacturer – from a beekeeper who sells his product on the market. In this case, the wax will be unrefined, and depending on which part of the hive it is taken from, it will contain useful additives – honey, pollen, bee bread, which are rich in vitamins and other nutrients. The good thing about wax is that it is a natural product, unlike paraffin, which is a product of the oil industry. And also the fact that it is inexpensive. The disadvantage of wax is a higher melting point; you need to handle the liquid substance more carefully so as not to get burned. And also the fact that wax is highly flammable, you need to keep it as far away from open fire as possible.

Also, if the nails exfoliate strongly, you can use ozokerite, which we will discuss in more detail later.

To increase the efficiency of procedures, the following components can be added to the thermal carrier:

  1. Essential oils.

  2. Vegetable oils.

  3. Liquid vitamins. As a rule, during such procedures, vitamins of group B are used, as well as vitamins A, E and C.

If the nails exfoliate, the sequence of the procedure will be as follows:

  1. Remove the decorative coating from the nails, if any. It is completely useless to carry out treatment if the nail plates are covered with varnish, shellac, gel polish.

  2. Remove jewelry from your fingers.

  3. Carry out a light scrubbing of the skin of the fingers, paying great attention to the area around the marigolds. This will increase the effectiveness of the treatment procedure.

  4. Disinfect your hands using a drugstore or alcohol.

  5. Heat the heat carrier. To do this, you can use a special apparatus for melting paraffin. You need to spend money on its purchase, so if you want to avoid additional expenses, use an alternative option – a water bath. To do this, prepare two containers – one (metal saucepan) with a larger diameter, the other (saucepan, ceramic bowl) – smaller. Fill a large container with water, put a smaller container in it, into which you put a portion of the heat carrier and put a large saucepan on the fire. Heat the product just enough to melt.

  6. As soon as the product changes from solid to semi-liquid, remove the smaller container and place it on the table. Check the temperature of the substance by smearing or dripping onto the inside of your wrist. If you experience a sharp discomfort, wait a little, letting the paraffin cool down a little.

  7. If necessary, add other medicines to the preparation, mix the mixture thoroughly.

  8. Slowly dip your fingers into the bowl. The substance should cover at least the first phalanges of the fingers, but a large surface can be affected.

  9. You can apply not one, but several layers of paraffin, dipping your fingers into the composition as soon as the first (second) layer dries.

  10. As soon as the last layer of the substance grabs, you need to put on a protective polyethylene bag on your hands. To prolong the effect of the brush, it is recommended to place it in ordinary mittens or special thermal mittens.

  11. The duration of the procedure is not strictly standardized. If you have limited time, you can allocate 15-20 minutes for paraffin therapy. If not limited – 2-3 hours. It is most advisable to carry out treatment shortly before bedtime. Some experts recommend leaving such a thick mask on your hands overnight. Paraffin and wax are removed from the skin, nails, even if they exfoliate, without difficulty. The substance leaves in dense crusts, it is enough to lightly pick up the edge. After the procedure, you need to wash your hands and apply any care preparation on the nail plates, if it is not there, just lubricate the skin and nails with an ordinary moisturizer or baby cream.

ozokerite

Now let's talk about ozokerite, since this drug is not as familiar to most users as paraffin and wax. Ozokerite is a natural carbohydrate of organic origin. It is mined from the bowels of the earth in a mountainous area, therefore the second name of this substance is mountain wax. Its composition is close to oil, as well as to petroleum bitumen.

The properties of ozokerite, both thermal and generally therapeutic, are much higher than those of paraffin. Consider what exactly distinguishes ozokerite from paraffin or beeswax:

  1. Low thermal conductivity.

  2. Increased heat capacity, excellent ability to retain heat in itself.

  3. In thermotherapy, several layers of molten ozokerite are used, and the layer that is in contact with the skin or nail plates is hot, but tolerable. Layers that do not directly touch the skin can be very hot as heat is transferred very slowly to the lower layers and the surface of the body. Therefore, when applied in layers, no thermal burns can occur.

  4. Ozokerite can be reused, and you need to add about 25% of the new one to the initial amount of the substance.

  5. Just like paraffin, wax, ozokerite, cooling down, shrinks. It decreases in size by about 1/10. Therefore, there is a therapeutic effect of massage and light compression.

  6. The chemical effect of ozokerite is due to the fact that this substance contains components that are similar in properties to natural antibiotics. These substances can penetrate the skin, they enter the bloodstream and have a medicinal effect on tissues.

Ozokerite has a complex effect:

  1. Anti-inflammatory.

  2. Aseptic.

  3. Pain reliever.

  4. Restorative.

  5. The substance helps to reduce swelling and does not cause allergic reactions.

If the nails exfoliate strongly, then there will be no problems with the use of ozokerite. The technique for performing a cosmetic procedure is almost the same as when using paraffin or wax. Except for one point. Before applying the melted ozokerite to the skin and nails, the drug must be brought to a temperature of 100 degrees and sterilized for 10-15 minutes. Then cool to a comfortable temperature.

As you can see, paraffin, wax, and ozokerite must be converted from a solid state to a semi-liquid state using high temperature. However, what to do for those people who have contraindications to thermal procedures or who are simply afraid to use such methods on their own? There is a solution – if the nails exfoliate strongly, you can use cold paraffin. This cosmetic product, which can be bought at a stationary store or a medical device, is completely ready-to-use and does not require heating. It is enough just to apply cold paraffin to your fingers, put on thermal gloves and relax for 20-25 minutes.

The use of natural healing mud

The use of natural healing mud

If your nails are peeling, you can try to restore their health with the help of therapeutic mud. This technique of therapy has been known for more than one century and has been successfully used to combat a wide range of diseases and disorders.

The therapeutic mud, which is of natural origin, contains a huge complex of useful substances:

  1. Rich organomineral composition, which contains many organic and inorganic compounds.

  2. Multiple biologically active ingredients that have a beneficial effect on the skin and nails, which exfoliate strongly.

  3. Minerals, salts, trace elements that heal body tissues.

As a result of mud therapy, you can get the following effects:

  1. Improvement of blood and lymph flow.

  2. Activation of metabolism, metabolic processes.

  3. Relief of inflammatory processes and acceleration of tissue healing.

  4. Accelerated cell regeneration.

  5. Destruction of pathogenic microflora, which contributes to the fact that the nails are highly exfoliated.

To undergo the treatment of nail plates with mud, you can go to a beauty salon, visit a sanatorium or buy a drug in a store and carry out the procedures yourself at home.

Use of local cosmetics – oils, baths

How to remove shellac with an acetone bath

When the nails are strongly exfoliated, you can use available folk remedies or purchased cosmetics in order to eliminate this problem as quickly as possible. Let's start with the simplest – vegetable oils. Such substances are rich in vitamins and other nutrients that will help restore the health of the nail plates. Some oils act directly on the marigolds, as they have a suitable molecular weight for this. Other drugs nourish the skin around the marigolds, as a result of which there is a general healing of the tissues.

There are several ways to use natural vegetable oils:

  1. Compress and massage. Take any vegetable oil you have on hand. It is better, of course, to use not sunflower, but at least olive, castor, burdock, linseed. You can buy them both at a grocery supermarket and at a pharmacy. Not a lot of oil is needed – only 20-50 milliliters. Heat the product in a water bath to a temperature of 38-40 degrees (but not more, otherwise the oil may lose its healing properties), apply to the entire surface of the nail plates from the tips to the base, as well as to nearby tissues with a cotton swab. Wrap the first phalanges of fingers with cotton pads or halves of discs, secure such mini-compresses with food foil wrapping. If you often do extensions or just manicure with gel, acrylic or shellac, you may have special tips for removing long-lasting polymer coating. They can be used instead of foil. The compress should be left on the nails for 15-20 minutes, after which the pads are removed. After that, you do not need to wash your hands, just rub them against one another so that the unabsorbed oil is distributed over the entire surface of the skin. If your hands are too greasy, dry them on a towel or paper towel.

  2. Bath and massage. You will need about 100 milliliters of oil, but do not be afraid of unnecessary expenses, as the product can be drained into a separate small container after use and reused. Heat the oil in a water bath, dip your fingers into it and wait 20 minutes. After the recommended time has elapsed, you need to get your hands wet with a napkin; there is no need to wash off the oil with soap and water.

You can add any fat-soluble components to vegetable oil for baths or compresses, for example, an oil solution of vitamins A, E, C, D, B, which are sold in ampoules and are inexpensive. You can also use honey, any other components that do not contain liquid, since it will not mix with the oil, as a result of which the texture of the drug will be heterogeneous.

Baths for nails that exfoliate can be made from other natural products, mixing and combining components to your taste. For example, you can use the following combinations of products that are in the kitchen of any housewife:

  1. Take a bag of gelatin, add heated water or fresh warm milk to it, let it infuse and swell. Add the flesh of a quarter of a banana, lemon juice and a teaspoon of sea salt to the gelatin. Immerse the upper phalanges of the fingers in the mixture for 15 minutes, then wash your hands.

  2. Take a few tablespoons of natural honey, dilute with flaxseed oil, add freshly squeezed citrus or vegetable juice. The bath is done for 20-25 minutes, after which the remnants of the product are washed off the skin and nails under running water.

  3. Take 200 milliliters of natural yogurt (no additives, flavors or colors), add one teaspoon of iodine to it. Keep exfoliating nails in this mixture for 10-15 minutes.

  4. Take different herbs and greens for which the season is now, or which you can buy at the supermarket. Nettle, thyme, dill and parsley, cilantro, as well as greens of onions and garlic are suitable. Grind the ingredients, mix in a bowl, add two tablespoons of vegetable oil. Stir the mixture well so that the juices and oil do not stratify. Dip your fingertips in the bath for 15-20 minutes, then wash your hands with soap and apply a moisturizer.

  5. You can use red pepper, not Bulgarian, but hot. Both fresh product and dry, shredded are suitable. The pepper must be brought to a gruel consistency using kitchen utensils and vegetable oil. The phalanges of the fingers must be immersed in this mass to the base of the nails. The duration of the procedure is 5-10 minutes. But if you feel a strong burning sensation before the end of this time, finish the procedure earlier, then thoroughly rinse your nails and fingers themselves under running water.

  6. And the last recipe, more versatile – evaluate the contents of your refrigerator. Maybe there are several carrots, apples, cucumbers and tomatoes, eggs, a bag of sour cream? All of this you can use in order to make a bath for nails that exfoliate. Just grind the solid ingredients thoroughly, mix the juice and cake with the flowing components, heat in a water bath – the composition is ready. You can even use it for a mask or nail compress, the method of application does not really matter.

Exfoliate nails – expert advice and procedure rules

How to prevent future nail breakage

Whichever method or their combination you choose in order to forget about the discomfort that the nails cause when they exfoliate, follow the recommendations of doctors and cosmetologists:

  1. It is imperative to conduct a preliminary consultation with a specialist, visit at least a beautician. This will help to avoid such unpleasant complications as an allergy to the drugs used or the occurrence of side effects in the form of an even greater deformation of the nail plate.

  2. Continuity and consistency of treatment. All procedures should be carried out regularly, in accordance with a predetermined schedule. If you are taking medication or applying it on the spot, an unforeseen interruption in treatment can nullify all efforts. If you carry out cosmetic procedures, take herbal medicines, it is also impermissible to deviate from the schedule, because biologically active substances must accumulate in the body in order for the effect to be really noticeable.

  3. If you carry out cosmetic procedures yourself at home, do them at least 1-2 times a week. The best time to eliminate the causes of exfoliating nails is evening. Massage, soak, and nail masks 1 or 2 hours before going to bed.

If you use folk recipes for strengthening the nail plates, in the description of which salt, red pepper, citric acid or other fairly aggressive ingredients are indicated, follow the rules of the three 'NOT':

  1. Do not modify the recipe to your liking (that is, do not add extraneous, even potentially useful ingredients to the mixture).

  2. Do not exceed the recommended dosages of the mixture components.

  3. Do not exceed the recommended time for the procedure, because this can cause more harm than good.

If you carry out any thermal procedures – paraffin therapy, wraps, etc., be sure to make sure that you have no contraindications to them. For example, if you have dilated blood vessels in your hands, exposure to heat may be undesirable. If there are no restrictions on the use of such methods, carefully monitor the temperature of the products used, it should not be too high, otherwise you risk getting a thermal burn.

Some products used in cosmetic procedures can stain the nail plates. For example, iodine, extract from a nutshell or juices of some berries. Therefore, before using a new recipe, it is recommended to test the drug on one or two nails, for example, on those on the little fingers.
