Computer monitors have made great strides in image transmission. Today, you won't surprise anyone with a small and flat screen model – the audience demands an increase in resolution and quality of image processing in real time. A completely different type of displays is considered unusual – huge diagonals or a specific aspect ratio, coupled with a radial curvature.

Following the trends, the magazine team tried to conduct the most accurate and unbiased market research in order to select the 7 largest and best monitors for personal computers. The rating was sorted by screen diagonal, but the following evaluation aspects were also included in the overall standings:

  1. user feedback on performance;
  2. specifications;
  3. cost level.

HP Omen X Emperium 65 (4JF30AA)

Rating: 4.9

HP Omen X Emperium 65 (4JF30AA)

The representative of the famous gaming series of devices, which has become the best monitor among all its kind. The HP Omen X Emperium 65 (4JF30AA) is equipped with the NVidia Shield media player, which also has a hand in monitor technology innovations (for example, NVIDIA G-SYNC ULTIMATE – Dynamic Screen Refresh Technology). It is no wonder that its cost goes far beyond 200 thousand rubles.

Powerful (176W), large (64.5 inches) and thoroughly prepared for gamers, the HP Omen X Emperium 65 (4JF30AA) has an MVA matrix and supports the DisplayHDR 1000 protocol.Its brightness is a whopping 750 cd / m2, contrast ratio is 4000: 1 , but the pixel response time is “stuck” past the 14 ms mark. The total weight of the huge structure is 32.4 kg, and you should prepare thoroughly for its placement.

Because this large monitor is designed specifically for gamers, NVidia Shield allows you to stream and deliver an immersive experience. Naturally, it is best to use it for console games: for a connection with a PC, you should provide for the distance of the screen from the controllers so as not to impair your eyesight.

Advantages

  • the most technically advanced device in the collection;
  • availability of the NVidia Shield service;
  • an abundance of implemented technologies;
  • perfect image quality;
  • the ability to flexibly customize the screen.

disadvantages

  • very expensive and very heavy monitor;
  • high power consumption.

Acer EB550Kbmiiipx

Rating: 4.8

Acer EB550Kbmiiipx

The 16: 9 54.6-inch monitor is ideal for console gaming. To use it with a PC, to put it mildly, is not the best idea, because, despite all possible technologies and eye protection functions, the eyes will get very tired. Acer EB550Kbmiiipx is inexpensive, supports 4k format, uses TFT IPS matrix and LED display backlighting. The maximum frame refresh rate does not exceed 76 Hz (which is bad for fans of extreme values), but just right for comfortable gaming.

The brightness of the monitor is 300 cd / m2, the pixel response time does not exceed 4 ms, and the contrast is at the level of a good TV – 1200: 1. Users will not have USB ports at their disposal, but there will be a standard set of VGA, DisplayPort and HDMI (3 inputs). The built-in stereo speakers are not the most powerful: the power consumption is barely 5W. But the total power consumption in standard mode is 130 W, and this is a very controversial figure.

Advantages

  • the presence of built-in speakers;
  • high-quality image transmission;
  • the presence of a remote control included;
  • acceptable cost.

disadvantages

  • high power consumption in comparison with competitors.

Samsung C49HG90DMI

Rating: 4.7

Samsung C49HG90DMI

Samsung is one of the recognized leaders in gaming monitors. Their model C49HG90DMI is cheaper than the previous representatives of the rating (except for the model from Acer), but provides the same picture quality using a number of proprietary technologies. For example, the TFT-VA matrix is accompanied by the presence of QLED-backlight with anti-flicker function Flicker-Free, as well as support for HDR. The sRGB coverage, according to official tests, showed a 100% result, which indicates unconditional accuracy in rendering different colors and shades of this color model.

The Samsung C49HG90DMI connection panel contains the maximum required set of connectors with duplication of some of them (HDMI and Universal Serial Bus Type A). The power supply, often removed from the case for relief, is built in, and with it the entire monitor weighs 15 kg. Power consumption is also quite high – 71 W – but if you keep in mind the number of technologies and functions that are implemented here, it looks justified.

Advantages

  • acceptable level of cost (in comparison with competitors);
  • an abundance of functions and proprietary solutions;
  • full coverage of the sRGB additive color model;
  • excellent picture quality.

disadvantages

  • bulkiness and consumption of up to 113 W of power at the maximum.

DELL UltraSharp U4919DW

Rating: 4.6

DELL UltraSharp U4919DW

This representative of the group of the largest monitors holds the record for the number of USB 3.0 connectors. There are as many as 7 of them on the DELL UltraSharp U4919DW connection panel, and it's hard to even imagine why they were integrated into the design. The already familiar aspect ratio of 32: 9 again brings us back to a resolution of 5120×1440 pixels. This, like the IPS matrix, is a very good sign. The pixel response time dropped to the 8 ms mark, the brightness dropped to 350 cd / m2, but the given parameter values should not be regarded as a disadvantage.

The technical part of DELL UltraSharp U4919DW was “packed” in a bulky case with a heavy stand, which increased the total weight of the model to 17.2 kg. You should be very careful when choosing a PC table, or soberly assess the capabilities of an existing one. In working mode, the monitor consumes 60 watts of power on duty, and in sleep mode – only 0.3 watts. In conclusion, I would like to note not so much the high cost as an unsuccessful selection of the texture of the body plastic: a very easily soiled glossy surface does not fit in with the visual aesthetics.

Advantages

  • high resolution widescreen display;
  • 7 USB 3.0 interfaces;
  • high-quality color rendering;
  • nice appearance.

disadvantages

  • glossy surface of the monitor case.

ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ

Rating: 4.5

ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ

A dedicated widescreen ASUS ROG Strix series monitor designed specifically for the needs of professional gamers. In maximum resolution, it cannot compare with LG 49WL95C, demonstrating the same ratio (32: 9) but at a lower pixel density (3840 x 1080). However, this is compensated by the presence of a hybrid TFT-VA matrix with WLED backlighting, increased brightness parameters (450 versus 350 cd / m2 for the compared competitor), faster response time and DisplayHDR400 support.

The ASUS ROG Strix XG49VQ connection panel has 2 USB Type A interfaces, Type B, and USB 3.0. In addition, the usual HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2 are in place. Despite the 13.3 kg weight and an abundance of technological pieces, this large monitor consumes only 47 watts of power, which makes it one of the most economical of its kind.

Advantages

  • Covers 99% of all color gradations – almost perfect color rendering;
  • economical power consumption;
  • a large number of technologies for improving image transmission;
  • full set of connection interfaces.

disadvantages

  • high price.

LG 49WL95C

Rating: 4.4

LG 49WL95C

LG 49WL95C belongs to the class of the most expensive widescreen monitors, with a display diagonal of 49 inches. The radius of curvature of the model is 3800R – 3.8 meters, if we represent everything in proportions that we understand. The aspect ratio of 32: 9 allows you to reach resolutions up to 5120×1440. The response time is 1 ms longer than that of the previous rating, but this should not be considered a disadvantage.

Among the original functions LG 49WL95C stands out the light sensor, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the monitor to the environment, the PbP technology for displaying multiple images from 2 video sources at once, as well as the FlickerFree technology for suppressing flicker. It can also be noted that the model has 2 rather powerful speakers with a power of 10 W each, as well as a USB interface (together with 2 HDMI and DisplayPort ports) on the connection panel. Is the monitor worth your money? Of course, but the decision to buy is up to you.

Advantages

  • the presence of a USB-C port on the connector panel;
  • powerful built-in acoustics (2×10 W);
  • nice design;
  • an abundance of additional functions.

disadvantages

  • high price.

Acer Nitro EI491CRPbmiiipx

Rating: 4.4

Acer Nitro EI491CRPbmiiipx

A 49-inch 4k monitor with a sleek design and a slightly lower price tag than our competitors. The aspect ratio Acer of the Nitro EI491CRPbmiiipx is huge, with a width to height ratio of 32: 9. It has a VA LED backlight and a glossy finish on the outside of the display. The monitor features good pixel response times (just 4ms), wide viewing angles (178 ° horizontal and vertical), and 144Hz frequency at maximum resolution.

Of the video connectors Acer Nitro EI491CRPbmiiipx offers only Display Port and HDMI – there are no USB interfaces for connection here. The rated power consumed during operation is 66 W, and when idle – no more than 0.45 W. The monitor also has 2 speakers of 3 W each – weak, but in the absence of a stereo system, they will be useful. The total weight of the model including the stand is 11.4 kg, and you should be careful when placing it on a computer desk.

Advantages

  • acceptable price;
  • low energy consumption;
  • glossy anti-glare screen;
  • high image transmission characteristics.

disadvantages

  • lack of USB interfaces;
  • weak integrated speakers.
