PocketBook 641 Aqua 2

Rating: 4.9

PocketBook 641 Aqua 2

Once again, our rating includes an e-book from PocketBook. The first place is taken by the 641 Aqua 2, with excellent looks and optimal performance. The sleek shapes combined with the soft azure color of the soft-touch body make a positive impression on everyone who loves such gadgets. The aspect of external beauty is skillfully redeemed for the lack of a touch screen (E-Ink HD Carta technologies are used here) … however, nothing but authentic control buttons does not fit here.

If you want to get acquainted with the technical parameters of PocketBook 641 Aqua 2, then it has nothing new regarding the PocketBook 616 model. Except for the number of supported formats: in this model there are as many as 14. The gadget will be the best gift for all book lovers, as well as schoolchildren who are not averse to reading at their leisure.

  • technical characteristics at the PocketBook 616 level;
  • the best appearance;
  • high level of reliability;
  • 24 months official warranty (off. Version).

Rating: 4.8

The second place in the ranking goes to the most expensive and most productive e-book in our collection – ONYX BOOX Euclid. The model is equipped with a 9.7-inch E-Ink Carta touch screen with a resolution of 1200×825 pixels. There is adaptive backlighting and many customizable parameters under system control Android.

As a result of the elaboration of the ONYX BOOX Euclid model range, it received a powerful processor with a frequency of 1600 MHz and 1 GB of RAM, which can easily cope with processing 16 GB of internal memory. Naturally, memory cards with such parameters are not supported.

A small drawback of the e-book, according to users, is not the most capacious battery: 3000 mAh is good for ONYX BOOX Darwin 3, but here they look “pale” and require charging at least once every 4 days (provided that you use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth). The gadget is certainly good for everyday use and for the needs of the school … but is it worth spending so much money on buying it?

  • excellent technical performance;
  • high-quality design of the case and screen;
  • high-speed performance;
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

  • high price;
  • insufficient battery capacity.

ONYX BOOX Darwin 3

Rating: 4.7

The three best e-book ONYX BOOX Darwin 3 opens – one of the most reliable “readers” in this market segment. As a classic, its capacitive touchscreen display is made using E-Ink and Carta technologies, with a resolution of 1024×758 pixels. An operational system Android has been installed, allowing to implement the Wi-Fi connection.

The processor frequency installed in ONYX BOOX Darwin 3 is 1000 MHz. Together with 512 MB of RAM, it provides good performance of the device with a full internal memory (8 GB) and reading information from Micro SD media. But the most important and main advantage of this e-book is the capacity of the built-in battery – as much as 3000 mAh, which is easily enough for several weeks of uninterrupted operation. This is a great device for everyday use, which will be very useful in the educational process.

  • large battery capacity;
  • high quality of workmanship: simplicity and convenience;
  • an abundance of supported text formats;
  • the presence of a Wi-Fi module;
  • cover included (office version);
  • OC Andriod.

  • small complaints about the backlight.

Barnes & noble nook simple touch

Rating: 4.6

Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch

One step away from the leading three in the ranking, the Barnes & noble nook simple touch e-book stopped – a compact and laconic device with a touchscreen display running an operating system Android. The high level of quality allowed the model to rise to a worthy step in the hierarchy of the segment, but the technical characteristics became the anchor that did not allow it to rise even higher.

The display incorporates E-Ink and Pearl technologies, ensuring eye comfort throughout the reading session. Even more than modest 800×600 pixels of resolution look very decent with it. Unfortunately, many Barnes & noble nook simple touch lacks the number of supported formats: only PDF and Epub are available. The internal memory is only 2 GB, since the gadget has a slot for Micro SD.

But the great looks, ease of use and the duplication of touch paging with two large keys allow you to forget about all the punctures and flaws of the Nook, making it a desirable device in the hands of users.

  • top quality E-Ink Pearl display;
  • pleasant appearance and appropriate wide screen bezels;
  • streamlined soft-touch body;
  • OS Android;
  • Wi-Fi.

  • modest technical characteristics.

Amazon Kindle PaperWhite 2018 8Gb

Rating: 4.5

Amazon Kindle PaperWhite 2018 8Gb

The fifth place in the rating goes to the e-book Amazon Kindle PaperWhite – a 2018 model with positive reviews for screen quality and usability. The 6-inch display has a resolution of 1440×1080 pixels, built-in backlighting and a touch panel that eliminated the navigation and control buttons from the case.

Largely because of the capacitive screen Amazon Kindle PaperWhite turned out to be heavier than competitors: 182 grams. against 155 gr. in PocketBook 616. The lack of the possibility of expanding the internal memory due to Micro SD can also be attributed to the minus. But, as we said below, with 8 GB of its own memory, this is not necessary. The touch gadget turned out to be quite in the spirit of the times and can be an excellent addition to the school inventory of any student.

  • touch screen E-Ink Carta with an abundance of internal settings and high resolution;
  • waterproof case;
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

  • appearance – too thick and easily soiled display bezels;
  • lack of support for current text file formats.

PocketBook 616

Rating: 4.4

A line higher is the PocketBook 616 e-book – a recent hit among Russian buyers. The 6-inch display of this “reader” has a resolution of 1024×758 pixels, has a backlight and the ability to flexibly customize the display of books. The design is laconic, in the spirit of all serial gadgets from PocketBook, but slightly faded in appearance.

The processor frequency of this e-book is 1000 MHz, and it is enough for stable operation of the gadget with a full flash card. However, for comfortable use of the model, the volume of its own memory, equal to 8 GB, is enough. With average brightness settings, the 1300 mAh battery is enough to read 8,000 standard pages. PocketBook 616 turned out to be a very good e-book, which can become a worthy help for a student in the educational process.

  • excellent service center of the company in Russia;
  • convenience and ease of use;
  • high-quality E-Ink Carta display, comfortable for the eyes;
  • the minimum number of refusals in work (expert statistics).

  • small number of readable formats in comparison with Digma r63S.

Digma r63S

Rating: 4.3

Digma r63S

A moderately high-quality and inexpensive e-book with support for 13 text formats. It has a 6-inch screen, organically surrounded on three sides by control buttons. The buttons are ergonomic and fit well into the overall design of the model – unlike many other representatives of the company.

The processor in the Digma r63S model is a Rockchip RK2818 with a frequency of 600 MHz, which is fast enough at nominal load and a small amount of occupied memory. The reader's own storage is limited to 4GB, which can be easily expanded with a 32GB Micro SDHC. A lithium-polonium (Li-Pol) battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh acts as an energy element.

A small drawback of Digma r63S is expressed in the low resolution – 800×600 pixels. But for its price, and given its age, the model is guaranteed to be among the best.

  • E-Ink Carta display, comfortable for the eyes;
  • the presence of an adjustable backlight;
  • a large number of internal settings;
  • lightness (160 gr);
  • can be charged via USB port.

  • low screen resolution;
  • you cannot move files from the memory card to internal storage.
