The fact is that the monitor screen is stretched in width, as a result of which it received an aspect ratio of 24:10. Therefore, it is not intended for viewing videos obtained using standard cameras (we do not take into account widescreen films) – you will be disturbed by black bars on the sides. But games look great on such a monitor. And we are not even talking about simultaneous work in two applications! Traditionally for the company's products LG, the monitor received an IPS display. As you know, such a screen has maximum viewing angles. And the aspect ratio turned out to be not so impressive. However, 21: 9 is an ideal setting for watching many Hollywood films; in most cases there will be no black bars on either side. By the way, in some ways the monitor even surpasses the previously reviewed model. This representative of our rating can boast a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The picture is as smooth as possible – this is especially noticeable in games, if a powerful video card is used, and in action films.
However, the curved screen installed here cannot be called ideal. Yes, it has a 5ms response time, which should suit many gamers. However, a traditional 8-bit matrix is used here, so you shouldn't count on full HDR. Well, the manufacturing technology does its job – because of the bright backlight, the contrast ratio is 1000: 1. Perhaps because of this, the monitor is recommended for purchase only for gamers – in games, the above disadvantages are completely invisible. Such people will be quite satisfied with the standard 16.7 million colors, as they will be satisfied with the maximum viewing angles. They will also appreciate the G-Sync function.
We figured out the display. However, the monitor does not consist only of it. We must not forget that the picture must be transferred to the screen somehow. Of course, our rating will not only consist of purely gaming monitors. For example, LG 27UK650 is a good option for any use case. It has a standard aspect ratio of 16: 9. The screen is flat, but its resolution is brought up to 3840×2160 pixels. This means the 27 '' thin bezel monitor is ideal for watching movies and other 4K video content. We recommend doing this with HDR enabled – the IPS panel used here supports this, displaying more than 1 billion colors. However, the manufacturing technology still does not allow you to squeeze absolutely everything out of HDR – the presence of backlighting does not make the picture perfectly contrasting. But the IPS-screen has maximum viewing angles. Also its advantage is the response time not exceeding 5 ms.
In Russian stores, they ask for this monitor in the region of 32 thousand rubles. Therefore, the South Korean manufacturer had to save on something. In this case, this is the screen refresh rate – it does not exceed 61 Hz. That is why, even with support for FreeSync technology, the monitor is not called a gaming monitor. Everyone knows that any gamer with a powerful video card wants to see faster frame rates.
During its operation, the device consumes approximately 45 W of electricity. This is an excellent result, especially if you remember the brightness of the backlight used here and the resolution of the matrix. Two HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort connectors are used to connect to a computer. Please note that there is no USB hub here – the manufacturer also saved on this. And the stand is more simplified here – the buyer does not need to wait for the monitor to rotate or adjust its height. But a lot of people don't give a damn about that. It is much more important to them that the IPS-screen installed here is capable of boasting full 4K-resolution. This allows you to enjoy every photo. It also spurs on to get an action camera that can shoot 4K video. Or a quality quadcopter. However, the monitor can boast not only the resolution, but also the maximum viewing angles. Players will love the 5ms response time. And also this screen can display 1 billion colors. This means any content that supports HDR10 will look gorgeous here. And if computer games with such a color palette require an incredibly expensive video card, then buying a game console will be relatively inexpensive. It is not difficult to connect it together with a computer, because on the back of the monitor there are a pair of HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort. There is also a headphone jack.
Of course, I could not do without simplifications. To some, the display may not seem bright enough. And if one can argue with this, then one cannot deny the lack of contrast. It is because of this that the HDR effect will feel worse than on any OLED TV. Also, not everyone will like the screen refresh rate of 61 Hz.
As mentioned above, the monitor is not huge. In this regard, its power consumption is only 35 watts. And a surprise: the power supply is hidden under the back cover! Because of this, the monitor can get quite hot at certain moments, but you definitely should not worry about this.

Many players will feel a bit of a catch when they end up with a more expensive model. So, what did the manufacturer save on?
The first thing to note is the display resolution. It is 2560×1080 pixels. If you have a GeForce 1080 Ti graphics card at your disposal, then this will definitely not seem enough. Well, if your computer does not have top-end components, then the above resolution is fine – it will not force the graphics adapter to strain too much.
Savings are also noticeable in a fairly wide frame. It must be admitted that there are now a large number of LCD monitors with thinner bezels. Well, the matrix used here is standard, that is, 8-bit. This means that you will definitely not be able to watch content with an HDR effect. Not everyone will like the number of connectors – one HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 and USB Type-C are used to receive the picture. Well, the last serious drawback can be considered an external power supply. However, for many people it will fit under the computer table, without interfering at all.
Since this monitor got into our rating, it means that it also has a lot of advantages. Indeed it is. When watching movies and other videos, the maximum viewing angles are pleasing. But nothing else was expected, because the company LG Electronics traditionally installed an IPS-matrix here. Also, the monitor has a response time of 5 ms. And a special technology allows you to increase the response in dynamic scenes up to 1 ms. It should be to the taste of absolutely any gamer.
The monitor turned out to be absolutely small – the diagonal of its display does not exceed 29 inches. In this regard, the power consumed by it is only 35 watts. And this is if there are 5-watt speakers here! Flicker-free backlighting is used here to display the image. The picture itself is refreshed at 75 Hz. To be honest, this is the most unexpected – usually budget monitors have a standard refresh rate.
The device has some other limitations. But there is no need to talk about them in full detail. The fact is that many of them can be guessed right after you learn that an IPS matrix is used here. In particular, the screen has a rather low contrast, which is due to the presence of a separate backlit layer.
Interestingly, even such a relatively small monitor can be hung on the wall. For this, the traditional 100 mm mount is used.

Oddly enough, the cheapest monitor in our ranking is also widescreen. Its screen has an aspect ratio, the resolution is 2560×1080 pixels. You can buy this model in Russian stores for only 10 thousand rubles. Of course, such a monitor could not fail to receive a number of serious simplifications. The most important of these is the lack of DisplayPort. Therefore, only two HDMI 1.4 sockets should be used to connect a desktop computer and a laptop. Also, the manufacturer did not endow his creation with stereo speakers, even the simplest ones. At the same time, the headphone jack has not gone anywhere – that is, the sound coming via HDMI is still processed by the electronic part of the monitor.
An IPS panel is used as a screen. Surprisingly, it is endowed with an increased refresh rate of up to 75 Hz. This will definitely be noticeable when starting almost any computer game, especially if a powerful video card is hidden in the bowels of the system unit. The response time here is 5ms, which should also suit 99% of gamers. The backlight, which does not have a flickering effect, should also please. It is impossible to notice this, but the eyes will definitely get tired less. And the screen installed here has maximum viewing angles – the picture is not distorted at all, no matter from which side you look at it.
The cost of the monitor is not high, so the IPS-screen did not receive any improvements. As a result, the user expects a standard contrast of 1000: 1. That is, the black colors here, in fact, are not. But this is a disaster for all monitors that include WLED backlighting. The number of colors is also limited here – 16.7 million shades are displayed on the screen. Therefore, you will not be able to watch HDR content.
The monitor LG 25UM58 that got into our rating turned out to be relatively small. It is possible that it was the 25-inch diagonal of the screen that influenced the fact that the manufacturer decided to supply his creation with an external power supply – there was simply no place for him under the back cover of a rather thin monitor. And the small size also affected the power consumption, which in this case does not exceed 27 watts. Interestingly, even such a monitor can be hung on the wall – there are holes for a 75 mm mount on its back panel.
