The South Korean company LG produces perhaps the largest number of large-size LCD displays in the world. As a result, many screens are embedded in televisions, which our online magazine has already talked about more than once. Also, South Koreans produce monitors that are connected to a desktop computer, laptop, and any other image source. What is important, some models are able to amaze the imagination – they will definitely suit both the gamer and the person who is professionally involved in video editing. However, there are also simpler monitors LG, which, however, are also worth buying. In a word, this collection will tell you about all the best monitors produced by LG Electronics – both top and mid-budget models are included in the material.

LG 38UC99

Rating: 4.9

LG 38UC99

The largest monitor in our collection. The diagonal of its display reaches an enchanting 38 inches. At the same time, the device is completely different from any TV that has a similar parameter. The fact is that the monitor screen is stretched in width, as a result of which it received an aspect ratio of 24:10. Therefore, it is not intended for viewing videos obtained using standard cameras (we do not take into account widescreen films) – you will be disturbed by black bars on the sides. But games look great on such a monitor. And we are not even talking about simultaneous work in two applications! Also in favor of LG 38UC99 some people professionally engaged in video editing make their choice. In short, if you regularly encounter situations when you needed a second monitor, be sure to pay attention to this model – in fact, it replaces two conventional screens at once.

Traditionally for the company's products LG, the monitor received an IPS display. As you know, such a screen has maximum viewing angles. But we must admit that such a wide display would still be inconvenient to use from a normal workplace, if it were not bent. As a result, the monitor is also very beautiful! People who come to visit you will undoubtedly admire such a miracle of technology! The screen resolution is 3840×1600 pixels, which is quite adequate parameter for such a diagonal. It falls short of 4K or 5K resolution, but the copy turned out to be not the most expensive. Yes, you may not believe, but now there are computer monitors that cost much more than 70 thousand rubles.

The model that opens our rating has a number of other advantages that cannot be ignored. For example, the screen installed here has a 5ms response time. Not bad for this size! Of course, this will not be enough for esportsmen, but the monitor was not created for them. For casual gamers, the increased refresh rate of 75 Hz will also delight. But flicker-free backlighting will be useful to absolutely everyone – the eyes do not strain with it at all.

The display used here is capable of displaying over a billion colors. This means that even HDR content can be viewed through the monitor. However, do not hope for a perfect result – the IPS-matrix is equipped with a separate backlit layer, and therefore the monitor's capabilities are limited by low contrast.

Of course, the buyer may want to connect the device to several image sources at once. It uses two HDMI 2.0 connectors and one DisplayPort for this. There is also the possibility of receiving pictures via USB. Also, the monitor can be used as a USB hub – it is proposed to connect peripherals to two USB 3.0 ports. There is also a headphone output on the body of this model. However, the built-in 10-watt speakers can also be used to output sound. And the monitor can also transmit sound to Bluetooth – an accessory, be it a speaker or a headset. In short, impressive! But this is a monitor, not a TV.

The product has received support for FreeSync technology, which is especially important in dynamic games. Well, if we talk about the shortcomings of this model, then you can find fault only with the power supply, which is external. Also, not everyone will like the power consumption reaching 120W. It turns out that the monitor devours the same amount of electricity as some 50-inch TV.

Advantages

  • The monitor is very wide;
  • Over a billion colors
  • A high resolution;
  • Maximum viewing angles;
  • The screen is curved;
  • Refresh rate increased to 75 Hz;
  • There is support for FreeSync technology;
  • There is a wall mount;
  • Sound output is possible by Bluetooth;
  • There are stereo speakers;
  • Built-in USB hub;
  • A large number of connectors;
  • Flicker-free backlighting has been implemented.

disadvantages

  • High power consumption;
  • An external power supply is used;
  • Not everyone can afford it;
  • The contrast is only 1000: 1.

LG 34UC89G

Rating: 4.8

LG 34UC89G

Another curved monitor in our ranking. It turned out to be a little cheaper, but also smaller. The diagonal of the IPS-display used here has been reduced to 34 inches. And the aspect ratio turned out to be not so impressive. However, 21: 9 is an ideal setting for watching many Hollywood films; in most cases there will be no black bars on either side. By the way, in some ways the monitor even surpasses the previously reviewed model. This representative of our rating can boast a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The picture is as smooth as possible – this is especially noticeable in games, if a powerful video card is used, and in action films.

However, the curved screen installed here cannot be called ideal. Yes, it has a 5ms response time, which should suit many gamers. However, a traditional 8-bit matrix is used here, so you shouldn't count on full HDR. Well, the manufacturing technology does its job – because of the bright backlight, the contrast ratio is 1000: 1. Perhaps because of this, the monitor is recommended for purchase only for gamers – in games, the above disadvantages are completely invisible. Such people will be quite satisfied with the standard 16.7 million colors, as they will be satisfied with the maximum viewing angles. They will also appreciate the G-Sync function.

We figured out the display. However, the monitor does not consist only of it. We must not forget that the picture must be transferred to the screen somehow. HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort 1.2 connectors are used to receive images. And on the back of the monitor there is a pair of USB 3.0 sockets – they are used to connect any peripherals. The manufacturer did not forget about the headphone output. In a word, with such a monitor, you can hide the system unit out of sight, somewhere far away, because all the necessary connectors will be at hand even without it.

If the previous model considered consumed electricity in an unstoppable mode, then LG 34UC89G shows itself at its best. Of course, 70 W is also a lot, but for such a diagonal, perhaps, it is quite acceptable. Confused by the same power supply, which is external here. However, this is a typical situation for most monitors, especially if we talk exclusively about LG Electronics products.

By default, the monitor is paired with a stand, which is height adjustable here. But in some cases, it is easier to hang the device on the wall – for this, a standard VESA mount of 100×100 mm is used.

Advantages

  • There is support for G-Sync technology;
  • High enough resolution;
  • Maximum viewing angles;
  • Low response time;
  • Very high refresh rate of the display;
  • A decent number of connectors for receiving images;
  • Headphone connection available;
  • There is a USB hub;
  • Wall mountable;
  • The screen is large and curved;
  • Flicker-free backlight is used.

disadvantages

  • An external power supply is used;
  • Not very high contrast;
  • An ordinary 8-bit matrix;
  • After purchase, you will have to calibrate.

LG 27UK650

Rating: 4.7

LG 27UK650

Of course, our rating will not only consist of purely gaming monitors. For example, LG 27UK650 is a good option for any use case. It has a standard aspect ratio of 16: 9. The screen is flat, but its resolution is brought up to 3840×2160 pixels. This means the 27 '' thin bezel monitor is ideal for watching movies and other 4K video content. We recommend doing this with HDR enabled – the IPS panel used here supports this, displaying more than 1 billion colors. However, the manufacturing technology still does not allow you to squeeze absolutely everything out of HDR – the presence of backlighting does not make the picture perfectly contrasting. But the IPS-screen has maximum viewing angles. Also its advantage is the response time not exceeding 5 ms.

In Russian stores, they ask for this monitor in the region of 32 thousand rubles. Therefore, the South Korean manufacturer had to save on something. In this case, this is the screen refresh rate – it does not exceed 61 Hz. That is why, even with support for FreeSync technology, the monitor is not called a gaming monitor. Everyone knows that any gamer with a powerful video card wants to see faster frame rates.

During its operation, the device consumes approximately 45 W of electricity. This is an excellent result, especially if you remember the brightness of the backlight used here and the resolution of the matrix. Two HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort connectors are used to connect to a computer. Please note that there is no USB hub here – the manufacturer also saved on this. There are also no speakers, although the 3.5mm headphone output still remains.

Otherwise, this is a familiar monitor belonging to the mid-budget segment. The company LG has used a height adjustable stand here. The ability to rotate the monitor 90 degrees looks unusual – portrait mode can be useful for people who are actively drawing or retouching photos. And on the back of the device there are traditional 100×100 mm wall mounting holes. The monitor weighs less than 4.9 kg. Because of this, it seems that even drywall will withstand it (we do not recommend checking it).

Advantages

  • The screen has 4K resolution;
  • Wall mount possible;
  • FreeSync support has been implemented;
  • A large number of connectors for connecting a computer;
  • There is a headphone jack;
  • Decent response time;
  • Displays 1 billion colors (HDR10);
  • Maximum viewing angles;
  • The stand allows you to adjust the height and swivel the monitor.

disadvantages

  • Not the highest refresh rate;
  • The contrast is only 1000: 1.

LG 24UD58

Rating: 4.7

LG 24UD58

This monitor has turned out to be even more compact – it has a display with a diagonal of less than 23.8 inches. Also, from the model considered just above, it is distinguished by wider frames. And the stand is more simplified here – the buyer does not need to wait for the monitor to rotate or adjust its height. But a lot of people don't give a damn about that. It is much more important to them that the IPS-screen installed here is capable of boasting full 4K-resolution. This allows you to enjoy every photo. It also spurs on to get an action camera that can shoot 4K video. Or a quality quadcopter. However, the monitor can boast not only the resolution, but also the maximum viewing angles. Players will love the 5ms response time. And also this screen can display 1 billion colors. This means any content that supports HDR10 will look gorgeous here. And if computer games with such a color palette require an incredibly expensive video card, then buying a game console will be relatively inexpensive. It is not difficult to connect it together with a computer, because on the back of the monitor there are a pair of HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort. There is also a headphone jack.

Of course, I could not do without simplifications. To some, the display may not seem bright enough. And if one can argue with this, then one cannot deny the lack of contrast. It is because of this that the HDR effect will feel worse than on any OLED TV. Also, not everyone will like the screen refresh rate of 61 Hz.

As mentioned above, the monitor is not huge. In this regard, its power consumption is only 35 watts. And a surprise: the power supply is hidden under the back cover! Because of this, the monitor can get quite hot at certain moments, but you definitely should not worry about this.

Advantages

  • FreeSync support;
  • Decent number of connectors;
  • 1 billion colors are displayed;
  • Low response time;
  • Maximum viewing angles;
  • The screen has 4K resolution;
  • Flicker-free backlighting;
  • Can be hung on the wall;
  • There is a headphone output.

disadvantages

  • Standard refresh rate;
  • Low contrast;
  • The diagonal may seem insufficient to some.

LG 29UM69G

Rating: 4.6

LG 29UM69G

The most affordable monitor with a 21: 9 aspect ratio. This alone makes the device playable. Although it must be admitted that not every gamer wants to buy a monitor for 15 thousand rubles. Many players will feel a bit of a catch when they end up with a more expensive model. So, what did the manufacturer save on?

The first thing to note is the display resolution. It is 2560×1080 pixels. If you have a GeForce 1080 Ti graphics card at your disposal, then this will definitely not seem enough. Well, if your computer does not have top-end components, then the above resolution is fine – it will not force the graphics adapter to strain too much.

Savings are also noticeable in a fairly wide frame. It must be admitted that there are now a large number of LCD monitors with thinner bezels. Well, the matrix used here is standard, that is, 8-bit. This means that you will definitely not be able to watch content with an HDR effect. Not everyone will like the number of connectors – one HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2 and USB Type-C are used to receive the picture. Well, the last serious drawback can be considered an external power supply. However, for many people it will fit under the computer table, without interfering at all.

Since this monitor got into our rating, it means that it also has a lot of advantages. Indeed it is. When watching movies and other videos, the maximum viewing angles are pleasing. But nothing else was expected, because the company LG Electronics traditionally installed an IPS-matrix here. Also, the monitor has a response time of 5 ms. And a special technology allows you to increase the response in dynamic scenes up to 1 ms. It should be to the taste of absolutely any gamer.

The monitor turned out to be absolutely small – the diagonal of its display does not exceed 29 inches. In this regard, the power consumed by it is only 35 watts. And this is if there are 5-watt speakers here! Flicker-free backlighting is used here to display the image. The picture itself is refreshed at 75 Hz. To be honest, this is the most unexpected – usually budget monitors have a standard refresh rate.

The device has some other limitations. But there is no need to talk about them in full detail. The fact is that many of them can be guessed right after you learn that an IPS matrix is used here. In particular, the screen has a rather low contrast, which is due to the presence of a separate backlit layer.

Interestingly, even such a relatively small monitor can be hung on the wall. For this, the traditional 100 mm mount is used.

Advantages

  • There are stereo speakers;
  • Maximum viewing angles;
  • Flicker-free backlighting;
  • High refresh rate;
  • Still, a sufficient number of connectors;
  • There is support for FreeSync technology;
  • Very low response time;
  • Low power consumption;
  • There is a 3.5mm audio jack;
  • Affordable price tag.

disadvantages

  • An external power supply is used;
  • Low contrast;
  • No HDR support.

LG 25UM58

Rating: 4.5

LG 25UM58

Oddly enough, the cheapest monitor in our ranking is also widescreen. Its screen has an aspect ratio, the resolution is 2560×1080 pixels. You can buy this model in Russian stores for only 10 thousand rubles. Of course, such a monitor could not fail to receive a number of serious simplifications. The most important of these is the lack of DisplayPort. Therefore, only two HDMI 1.4 sockets should be used to connect a desktop computer and a laptop. Also, the manufacturer did not endow his creation with stereo speakers, even the simplest ones. At the same time, the headphone jack has not gone anywhere – that is, the sound coming via HDMI is still processed by the electronic part of the monitor.

An IPS panel is used as a screen. Surprisingly, it is endowed with an increased refresh rate of up to 75 Hz. This will definitely be noticeable when starting almost any computer game, especially if a powerful video card is hidden in the bowels of the system unit. The response time here is 5ms, which should also suit 99% of gamers. The backlight, which does not have a flickering effect, should also please. It is impossible to notice this, but the eyes will definitely get tired less. And the screen installed here has maximum viewing angles – the picture is not distorted at all, no matter from which side you look at it.

The cost of the monitor is not high, so the IPS-screen did not receive any improvements. As a result, the user expects a standard contrast of 1000: 1. That is, the black colors here, in fact, are not. But this is a disaster for all monitors that include WLED backlighting. The number of colors is also limited here – 16.7 million shades are displayed on the screen. Therefore, you will not be able to watch HDR content.

The monitor LG 25UM58 that got into our rating turned out to be relatively small. It is possible that it was the 25-inch diagonal of the screen that influenced the fact that the manufacturer decided to supply his creation with an external power supply – there was simply no place for him under the back cover of a rather thin monitor. And the small size also affected the power consumption, which in this case does not exceed 27 watts. Interestingly, even such a monitor can be hung on the wall – there are holes for a 75 mm mount on its back panel.

Advantages

  • Very low cost;
  • Very low power consumption;
  • There is a 3.5mm audio jack;
  • Fast response time;
  • Refresh rate increased to 75 Hz;
  • Maximum viewing angles;
  • Wall mount available.

disadvantages

  • No support for extended color range;
  • Not a very large number of connectors for connection;
  • An external power supply is used;
  • Low contrast;
  • There is no FreeSync support.

Conclusion

This is the list of the best monitors LG. The devices discussed in this article are suitable for connecting any computers to them. However, do not forget that high-resolution models require decent processing power – before buying them, you should stock up on a good video card or top-end laptop.
