Lenovo THINKPAD X1 Carbon Ultrabook (6th Gen)
Rating: 4.9
This laptop traditionally comes in several configurations. But all of them are united by a dust and moisture resistant case with a magnesium frame. Most of the body is made up of four-layer carbon fiber panels. This is the rare case when the word 'carbon' in the title really speaks of its presence (much more often manufacturers limit themselves to painting in the color of carbon). The laptop is certified according to the military MIL-STD-810G standard. This means that the laptop that opens our rating will be able to work even in pouring rain or scorching sun. Water will not penetrate even through the keyboard, not to mention all kinds of connectors. The use of carbon fiber made it possible to reduce the weight of the device to 1.13 kg – with the 14-inch display used here, this is quite good. At the same time, the manufacturer did not reduce the battery capacity. In ideal conditions, the laptop will go without a power outlet for 15 hours. But most often the connection of the power supply is required after 10-11 hours, which for a Windows – laptop, however, is a mind-blowing result. It is also nice to have support for fast charging technology here – in just 60 minutes, the battery gains 80% of its capacity.
The aforementioned screen is also a hallmark of the laptop. He received a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. A simple laptop with this parameter would slow down even when solving the simplest tasks. But here the video core Intel HD Graphics 620 is used, which is able to 'digest' the picture in 4K resolution. In short, you can display the image on an external 4K monitor – no problems from this. This can be done using USB 3.1 Type-C connectors and Intel Thunderbolt v3. There was no place for a discrete video card here, in any of the configurations. It turns out that the laptop was not created for games. It is intended exclusively for those who are going to use Windows 10 Pro for a particular job.
The laptop turned out to be very nimble. Thanks for the high performance is the subsystem based on high-speed M.2 drives. The default SSD storage is 256GB. However, you can find on sale and configurations in which a 512 GB or even 1 TB drive is installed. It is clear that such laptops will cost significantly more. Different configurations also differ in the amount of RAM – either 8 GB or 16 GB are waiting for the buyer. Finally, the processor may also differ – the manufacturer's choice fell on chipsets from the Core i5 and Core i7 series.
In a word, this is the ideal workhorse, when using which you are unlikely to face any serious problems. There is even a fingerprint scanner here that will save personal data in case of loss or theft of the device. The product is also supplemented with a separate accessory – a gigabit network card. It is needed for those who do not have enough Wi-Fi 802.11ac speed or who simply do not have a router nearby that supports this standard. The manufacturer has not forgotten the card reader either, but the drive is inserted into it exclusively of the microSD form factor.

- Gigabit network adapter included;
- Fast Wi-Fi;
- A fast SSD is used as a drive;
- A very powerful processor is installed;
- The graphics core processes high-resolution images;
- Excellent 14-inch display
- Low weight;
- Great appearance;
- There is a fingerprint sensor;

Lenovo Yoga 730 13
Rating: 4.8
If we talk about laptops Lenovo, then devices from the Yoga series are almost in the greatest demand now. Therefore, it is not surprising that one of the models in this lineup made it to our rating. The copy we have chosen belongs to the class of ultrabook-transformers. This means that the laptop turned out to be very thin and light – its weight barely reaches 1.12 kg. It also suggests that the laptop screen can be expanded. Therefore, a laptop can be laid flat on the table, in the manner of a tablet computer. Or you can turn the screen to the interlocutor, allowing him to look at the fruits of your labors.
Several configurations of the laptop went on sale, and even with three body colors. In any case, the buyer will receive a laptop with a 13.3-inch screen. However, its resolution may differ. The relatively inexpensive version displays a picture with a resolution Full HD, but the top-end version Lenovo Yoga 730 13 offers a 4K image. The display was created using IPS technology, which speaks of the maximum viewing angles.
This laptop is free of carbon fiber and other expensive materials. As a result, the most affordable laptop configuration can be bought for 67-77 thousand rubles. It is quite inexpensive, especially for the components used here. The design turned out to be durable – there is no doubt that the computer will withstand several years of active operation without any problems. This or that version Windows is used here as an operating system – you don't need to install something yourself.
If your choice fell on the Yoga 730 13 laptop, then we recommend finding money for a top-end configuration. The fact is that it uses a Core i7 processor instead of the less powerful Core i5. This laptop can handle most tasks. In theory, you can even do video editing on a computer, which is facilitated by a rather powerful UHD Graphics 620 video chip. But rendering can take a long time – the lack of a discrete video card with CUDA cores still makes itself felt. Also, the top version of the laptop is equipped with a 512 GB solid state drive. The younger version also stores data on the SSD, but its volume is only 128 GB – the user will quickly realize that this is very small. Of course, no one forbids constantly using an external hard drive by connecting it via USB 3.0 or USB 3.1. But carrying with you not only a laptop, but also an external HDD is not very convenient. Continuing the talk about the connectors, there are also two Thunderbolt v3 ports that allow you to display images on an external screen with high resolution. On the other hand, it is proposed to go to the Internet exclusively by wireless method – for this, support for the Wi-Fi 802.11ac standard is intended.
Perhaps Lenovo turned out to be a wonderful laptop. He even got a fingerprint scanner that will not allow an unauthorized person to enter the operating system. The product also has from 8 to 16 GB of RAM, depending on the configuration. Someone may find the supplied stylus useful as well – it is for them that it is easiest to interact with the touch screen. Such a miracle works for about ten hours – only after such a period of time is it required to connect the power supply. By the way, it is connected to the USB Type-C connector, there is no separate charger socket. This is not a drawback, but a feature of the laptop – many modern laptops are implemented in a similar way.
Advantages
- A powerful processor is used;
- Adequate memory
- Fresh version Windows on board;
- Built-in fingerprint sensor;
- High speed connectors are available;
- Fast Wi-Fi supported;
- The top configuration has a 4K display;
- The screen is touch-sensitive and rotatable;
- Low weight;
- The top version has a 512 GB SSD drive;
- Long battery life.
disadvantages
- The cost, after all, cannot be called low;
- The lower configuration has little memory.
Lenovo Legion Y720
Rating: 4.8
Not all people are comfortable with a 13-inch laptop. Sometimes a person needs a larger display on which all information is seen much better. That is why Lenovo Legion Y720 got into our rating. It has an IPS display with a diagonal of 15.6 inches. The screen is not touch-sensitive, and therefore does not have the ability to rotate 360 degrees. The display resolution is 1920×1080 pixels – the buyer will not get any frills. However, no one bothers to display the picture on an external monitor – the discrete graphics card GeForce GTX 1060 also supports 4K resolution. It's nice that the video adapter is available in all configurations – even in the one that is sold for a relatively affordable 80 thousand rubles. You can use HDMI, DisplayPort, or Thunderbolt v3 to connect a monitor. By the way, among the connectors you can find gigabit RJ-45, which laptop manufacturers have recently been abandoning. And it is not surprising, because it is much easier to connect to the network using Wi-Fi 802.11ac – in theory, the standard offers about the same speed.
The presence of a video card means that even gamers should like the laptop. They will appreciate the eye-catching appearance. They will also note the bright red color of the keyboard backlight. The block of WASD buttons is highlighted here, so fingers are placed on it almost automatically. It should be noted the presence of a digital block – the size of the laptop allowed it to be left. During games, you can enjoy not only a high-quality picture, but also a pleasant sound, for the output of which is the 2.1 speaker system from JBL. Nothing bad can be said about the webcam, which can take pictures in HD resolution.
As we already mentioned, the laptop comes in several configurations. There are five of them in total – their cost in Russian retail varies from 80 to 110 thousand rubles. Basically, they differ among themselves in the amount of memory and the installed processor. We recommend looking towards high-performance solutions based on a chipset from the Core i7 series. As for the RAM, the buyer is offered 8 and 16 GB – it is difficult to notice a particular difference. But a bunch of HDD and SSD will not hurt – when using it, the operating system literally 'flies'. You should buy an option exclusively with a 1 TB hard drive only as a last resort.
This is how Lenovo got a gaming laptop. Of course, such a beast cannot work on a single charge for a long time – the manufacturer claims no more than five hours, and even then not in game mode. But this is not important, because such laptops are usually not used anywhere on the road. They are rarely carried anywhere with them – in this case, the owner will certainly strain the weight of the computer, which reaches 3.2 kg.
Advantages
- Decent IPS display
- A large number of high-speed connectors;
- A fresh version of the operating system is installed;
- Fast Wi-Fi supported;
- Built-in powerful processor;
- There is a video card that even supports VR;
- Decent amount of RAM;
- Uses 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD;
- Gorgeous appearance.
disadvantages
- Large weight;
- Short battery life;
- High price;
- No fingerprint scanner.
Lenovo ThinkPad L380
Rating: 4.7
Of course, there should be more affordable laptops in our rating. In particular, we decided to recommend buying Lenovo the ThinkPad L380. The basic configuration of this model is estimated by Russian sellers at 35-40 thousand rubles. However, this version only has a 128GB SSD. If you have the opportunity, then it is better to get a slightly more expensive configuration, offering 256 or even 512 GB of internal memory.
It is impossible not to notice that this is one of the most inexpensive laptops among those that have a shockproof and waterproof case. However, you don't need to rely on carbon here – the product is made of plastic and metal. In this regard, the weight of the computer reaches 1.46 kg – a lot for a modern ultrabook. And this is without a discrete video card – it uses integrated graphics Intel HD Graphics 620, already mentioned in our rating, instead. Its capabilities are quite enough for timely processing of images with a resolution Full HD. Only HDMI 1.4b is designed to output images to an external monitor, which is somewhat sad.
The basic configuration of the laptop Lenovo of the ThinkPad L380 is very different from the top one. The cheapest version received the most modest display based on the TN + film matrix. This means that his viewing angles are far from ideal. And the resolution of 1366×768 pixels will not suit everyone. The top configuration pleases with an IPS matrix with a resolution of 1080p. The screen size will be 13.3 inches anyway.
Also, be sure to pay attention to the processor. A dual-core Core i3 is thought of even when solving fairly trivial tasks. Well, the Intel 8550U, part of the Core i7 series, has no such problem. Also, the configurations differ in the amount of RAM – it varies from 4 to 8 GB. Fortunately, there is access to the corresponding slots here, so in the future the user can increase the volume by purchasing other bars.
The ThinkPad L380 is not much different in different configurations Lenovo. The buyer will in any case receive a slot for a microSD memory card and a fingerprint scanner. To access the Internet, a Wi-Fi module supporting the 802.11ac standard will be used. The support for fast charging should also please, when the 80 percent battery capacity runs up in 60 minutes.
Advantages
- Two USB 3.1 and USB Type-C connectors;
- Nice screen (in advanced configurations);
- There is moisture protection;
- There is a fingerprint scanner;
- Relatively small size;
- Fast Wi-Fi built in;
- Powerful processor (in top configuration);
- The integrated graphics do their job well.
disadvantages
- Basic version comes without OS;
- The standard configuration has a minimum memory size;
- The basic configuration is very slow.
Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E480
Rating: 4.6
Another laptop from a Chinese company Lenovo that sells for relatively little money. It has a familiar appearance, the buyer can not expect any non-standard colors. But on the other hand, the product pleases with its design – water protection is implemented here, thanks to which falling into the rain will not affect the device's performance in any way. The laptop weighs a lot – about 1.75 kg. But on the other hand, it is equipped with a capacious battery, a full charge of which is enough for 10-13 hours of battery life. This battery can be charged up to 80% in one hour, which is also good news.
It should be noted that this laptop has a very large number of modifications. They differ in memory size, processor, display, and some other components. In particular, the basic version scares off a little from the purchase, as it has the simplest display made on the basis of TN + film technology. The resolution of this 14-inch matrix is only 1366×768 pixels. If you agree to allocate more than 70 thousand rubles for the purchase, then you will get a laptop with a high-quality IPS-screen, the resolution of which is 1920×1080 pixels. This display has a high contrast and maximum viewing angles. The top configuration also includes a quad-core processor Intel 8550U belonging to the Core i7 series. Younger versions Lenovo ThinkPad L380 work with less powerful chipsets, but they do a pretty good job at solving basic tasks.
Laptop work is provided by 4 to 8 GB of RAM. Slots for it are readily available, so you can increase this volume in the future. Well, for data storage, either a 1 TB hard drive, or a solid-state drive with a volume of 128 to 256 GB, or a bunch of these two components can be used. The most interesting is a portable computer with a combination of two types of drives, but it is much more difficult to find it on sale.
A fairly large number of connectors can be found on the laptop case. However, you should not count on Thunderbolt – instead, HDMI 1.4b is used to transfer images to a TV or monitor. There is also a LAN port that supports data transfer at speeds up to 1 Gb / s. However, it is much easier to connect to the network using the Wi-Fi 802.11ac wireless standard. The fingerprint scanner should also please the buyer – it's nice that now laptops are also equipped with them. Well, as the operating system is used here Windows 10 Pro. However, this does not apply to budget configurations – they operate under DOS control. That is, their creators expect that Windows you install yourself. Or make your choice in favor of Linux – the laptop can work under his control.
Advantages
- Top configurations have a powerful processor;
- Versions with solid state drive available;
- There are high-speed connectors;
- Fast Wi-Fi supported;
- Built-in fingerprint sensor;
- The top configuration has a good IPS display;
- Intel Graphics 620 does an excellent job with its main task;
- Implemented a waterproof keyboard;
- Long battery life.
disadvantages
- Not the best screen in basic configurations;
- Not a very powerful processor (in basic versions);
- There could be more RAM;
- The weight cannot be called minimal;
- Slot only for microSD memory card.
Lenovo IdeaPad 720 15
Rating: 4.5
This is perhaps the largest laptop in our ranking. Its display has a diagonal of 15.6 inches. Therefore, this option is ideal for work – you will not need to regularly look at the small elements of the operating system interface or any applications. The island-style keyboard also contributes to comfortable work. However, a similar keyboard is used in all other laptops reviewed today, and therefore it cannot be included in the number of advantages. I am glad that you can find a fingerprint sensor on the case. This means that your laptop can be stolen, but not the data contained on it. The person who stole the laptop must then try hard to at least reinstall the operating system – without this, the use of the device will be impossible.
As usual, the laptop Lenovo IdeaPad 720 15 comes in several configurations. The cheapest one causes some rejection, since it has a display created using TN + film technology. Such a matrix offers pleasant color rendering, but its viewing angles are far from maximum. The resolution of 1366×768 pixels is also disappointing. It's a shame to see this in a laptop that costs 40 thousand rubles. In more advanced configurations, of course, an IPS panel with a resolution Full HD is used. This laptop has no problems with viewing angles.
We must not forget that a picture from a laptop, if the quality of the built-in display does not suit you, can be displayed on the monitor. This is where the HDMI connector is designed for. Thunderbolt is absent here – such a connector should only be found in much more expensive laptops. Well, to connect external peripherals, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.1 Type-C are used.
Both inexpensive and top-end configurations include a discrete AMD Radeon RX 560 graphics card (however, you can also find options with RX 550 on board on sale). This video adapter has 4 GB of GDDR5 video memory. With such a video card, you can do both video editing (not in 4K resolution) and play toys. Interestingly, the graphics level will have to be lowered only in some projects. For example, FIFA 18 here runs at excellent frame rates even at the highest settings. But the 'Witcher 3' is too tough for such a laptop – you are unlikely to be satisfied with 34-35 fps.
Any laptop capable of running games is heavy enough. Here it is 2.1 kg. It was influenced by the mandatory presence of a 1 TB hard drive. It was impossible to do without it – modern games weigh a lot. Top configurations are supplemented by a 128 GB SSD-drive, on which the operating system is installed – the resulting bundle significantly increases the speed of the software.
This laptop runs with either Intel 7200U or Intel 8250U or Intel 8550U. The third option, included in the Core i7 line, looks preferable. As for the RAM, the buyer is expected from 4 to 8 GB. Otherwise, this is a typical laptop, the appearance of which is traditional. The manufacturer claims that with a full charge, his creation can work up to ten hours. But in reality, you will have about half the battery life. It remains to add that Windows 10 Pro is used as the operating system here. Except for a few budget configurations that come without an OS.
Advantages
- There are options with a bundle of HDD and SSD;
- Top configurations have an IPS display;
- There is a decent discrete graphics card;
- A version with a powerful processor is available;
- There is a slot for an additional memory bar;
- High speed connectors are available;
- Wi-Fi 802.11ac supported;
- Card reader including for SD cards;
- There is a fingerprint scanner.
disadvantages
- The screen in budget configurations will not suit everyone;
- Little RAM;
- Large size and weight.
Conclusion
Of course, in this article we have not listed all the successful laptops made by the company Lenovo. The assortment of this manufacturer also includes other decent laptops. However, this list will be enough for you not to make a mistake with your choice. It remains only to decide on the amount that you are willing to spend.
