Children's headphones are a special category of devices for playing music, which have special requirements for the level of comfort and safety for hearing. As a rule, such models are distinguished by increased softness of the ear cushions and headbands, have a low weight and a delicate retainer with a secure and non-squeezing fit at the same time. They sound good, can convey depth of bass and treble, but generally have little effect on the eardrums of young listeners.

Unlike most other market segments, in the category of children's headphones there is a problem of choice due to the scarcity and reluctance of manufacturers (both well-known and local) to tinker with such a specific product. In this regard, the Internet magazine opened its own 'investigation' and by the power of a large team managed to find the four best representatives of its class, approved by both the consumer group and the expert panel.

JBL JR300BT

Rating: 4.9

 JBL JR300BT

The deserved leader in the rating of children's headphones is the JR300BT model from the professionals in the creation of audio devices – the JBL company. This device can be called a trend, because in creating its technical part, the same approach was used as in the premium series of headphones from this brand. In particular, it is worth noting the possibility of connecting to the phone using a cable with a mini jack 3.5 connector, as well as using Bluetooth – connection. In the first case, young users are provided with a cord that expands the activity zone by as much as 15 meters. In the second, there is a powerful communication channel operating at a distance of up to 20 meters from the object of music playback.

An important advantage of the JBL JR300BT is the battery capacity. When fully charged, it lasts for 12 hours, which is also the best result in the current collection. The sound pressure of the headphones is 85 dB and the frequency range ranges from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, covering all kinds of peaks and bass in perceived sound. It is noteworthy that such a serious work was done in a very compact and light device: its total weight was only 113 grams! An excellent indicator, perfectly combined with the overall quality and price level, which elevates these headphones to the rank of the middle segment.

Advantages

  • very lightweight construction (113 grams);
  • 15-meter connection cable available;
  • the ability to connect with playback devices via mini jack 3.5 or Bluetooth 4;
  • optimal sound parameters;
  • high build quality, good value for money.

disadvantages

  • absent.

HARPER Kids HB-202

Rating: 4.8

 HARPER Kids HB-202

The second line of the rating goes to the HARPER Kids HB-202 rechargeable headphones, made in child-friendly color combinations and with soft leatherette braiding. Like all standard wireless models, they can connect to phones, players and other multimedia gadgets via mini jack 3.5, or via Bluetooth. The rechargeable battery is powerful, with a charge for 10 hours of continuous operation, which is an undoubted plus.

The reproduction quality of HARPER Kids HB-202 is at a high level both according to young users and from the point of view of experts: the reproducible frequency range varies from 20 to 20,000 Hz, and the impedance does not exceed 32 Ohm. The ergonomic qualities of the model were also positively reflected in the comments. In particular, a 10-meter (!) Flat cable for wired headphones is mentioned, as well as soft and comfortable ear pads that do not cause fatigue during prolonged wearing.

Advantages

  • low price;
  • high quality assembly and finishing;
  • rather pleasant sounding, standard frequency range (20-20000 Hz);
  • good ergonomic performance (foldable, soft ear pads, earhook finish);
  • 10 m flat cable.

disadvantages

  • not found.

Philips SHK1030

Rating: 4.7

 Philips SHK1030

Inexpensive, lightweight, on-ear headphones operating in the frequency range from 10 to 24000 Hz. Despite the external flimsy, they are very tenacious and strong, not causing discomfort to either the ears or in the headband area. The Philips SHK1030 ear cushions are made of a soft material that resembles ordinary foam in structure, but with much higher wear resistance parameters. In turn, the body of the bowls and partly of the arches has a soft touch rubber pad to reinforce the structure and prevent slipping.

Very often in the comments to this headset you can find complaints about the weak, quiet sound, annoying more older than younger users. The reason for this phenomenon: the delicacy in relation to the hearing of children, due to the physiological characteristics of age. Although, in general, the very statement about insufficient volume sounds absurd: experts confirm that both the sensitivity (106 dB) and the direct control of the audio signal power are at the optimal level for on-ear headphones. So, if you are looking for comfortable and at the same time high-quality headphones for your child, be sure to take a closer look at Philips SHK1030.

Advantages

  • cable length (1.2 meters) with mini jack 3.5;
  • good reproduction parameters (10-24000 Hz frequency), (106 dB of sensitivity);
  • Lightweight and comfortable body with a narrow headband, rubberized ear cups and soft ear pads.

disadvantages

  • not identified.

Lexibook HP010

Rating: 4.6

Lexibook HP010

Flexible and lightweight Chinese headphones for children, the finishing of which involves the application of a thematic pattern on the outer part of each bowl, the exposure of the color scheme and a slight local softening in the headband area. Which of the features of these headphones can be noted with a plus sign? Firstly, in its own way, a convenient short (1.5 meters) cable with mini jack 3.5, through which the headset is connected to playback devices. Secondly, good performance for a budget product – 20-20000 Hz frequency, 85 dB sensitivity and 32 Ohm impedance. And the assembly, despite the use of fairly cheap raw materials, looks neat.

Having a slightly higher price than that of the HARPER Kids HB-202, the Lexibook HP010 seems to be a less attractive product, with an annoying lack of some functions. For example, wireless connectivity via Bluetooth as the second communication option, since the wired port in the hustle and bustle or carelessly (talking about children) can be damaged. Yes, the manufacturers managed to provide indirect attractiveness by adding a cartoon theme, but some technical solutions could be developed in more interesting directions.

Advantages

  • convenient short cable (1.5 meters);
  • neat appearance, neat assembly and fitting of parts;
  • good sound reproduction parameters.

disadvantages

  • a rather high price for the available functionality and assembly as a whole.
