14 best TVs with smart TV function

Ratings of electronics and engineering goods

Review of the best according to the editorial board. On the selection criteria. This material is subjective and does not constitute advertising and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before buying, you need to consult with a specialist.

Just a few years ago, Smart TVs were a gimmick. Now, buying a device devoid of smart functionality is practically pointless, unless it will be used somewhere in the kitchen, garage or bathroom. In the living room or bedroom, you want to quickly get access to this or that content, and this can only be provided by Smart TV. That is why we decided to talk about the best TVs equipped with webOS Tizen or some other operating system.

If the vast majority of smartphones sold now operate under the control of Android and iOS, then there is a slightly wider variety on the TV market:

  1. Devices from LG ship with the webOS operating system. It has a long history, the first versions of it were developed by Palm, which then produced good PDAs. For some time now, webOS has been adapted exclusively for TVs. The operating system displays the main applications in the form of bookmark flags in the lower area of the screen. Most of the settings are made in just a couple of clicks of the remote control. Especially if it's the so-called Magic Remote that comes with top and mid-budget 4K models. Also, this operating system is capable of boasting a special function, thanks to which what is happening on a computer, tablet or smartphone is displayed on the TV screen – for this, Miracast technology is used. If we talk about shortcomings, then only the lack of support for the m2ts format comes to mind – it was eliminated with the release of the fourth version of the OS. Therefore, it is better to download 4K movies to such TVs in MKV format.

  2. Samsung has been installing the operating system Tizen on its Smart TVs for quite a few years. At one time, the South Koreans tried to completely alleviate it. As a result, Tizen began to appear on smartwatches and even refrigerators. TVs use, as it seems, its most functional version. At the same time, operating system management remains as simple as possible. It also supports the transfer of images to the TV display via Wi-Fi. And if the device has a Bluetooth – module, and the kit includes a corresponding remote control, then the operating system will understand the voice commands. But the remote control cannot be used as a pointer – for some reason, Samsung abandoned this control method several years ago. But on the other hand, a built-in Steam Link began to appear in new models. This means that the buyer will be able to play on the TV those games that are in his Steam library – the image will be transmitted from the computer without brakes and with minimal delay. Otherwise Tizen – this is a typical operating system adapted for a huge TV screen, where for certain settings you need to make only one or two presses on the remote control.

  3. Android TV is also very popular now. This operating system is distributed free of charge, so TVs based on it are produced by several companies at once. Sony is working most actively in this direction – the Japanese realized that Smart TV based on Linux does not make any impression on the buyer. Perhaps it is Android TV that can be called the least stable system – one day slowdowns may even begin on top TVs equipped with a very powerful processor and large memory capacity. The operating system interface is adapted for the TV display and remote control. Unfortunately, devices with Android TVs come with a traditional remote control only, so some people still want to connect a wireless mouse. But this operating system is famous for its openness. This means that on it you can run almost any application that is somehow adapted to the landscape orientation of the screen. In particular, here you can launch a torrent client, downloading media content to an external hard drive with its help. Competitors will definitely not be able to offer this!

  4. This is the list of the most popular operating systems for Smart TV. As mentioned above, Sony used to install something from itself, developed on the basis of Linux. That operating system was quite usable, and now it still feels good on TVs of happy buyers. But one cannot fail to note its nightmarish interface, devoid of any decorations. And the set of applications is extremely small, which cannot but disappoint. That's why

besides Sony, only a few companies were involved in such an experiment. Also on Smart TVs you can find the operating systems Opera TV and Firefox OS.

What is better TIZEN, ANDROID TV, WEBOS

The best TVs with Smart TVs on the operating system Tizen

Samsung QE65Q7FAM

Rating: 4.9

Samsung QE65Q7FAM

Our rating is opened by Smart TV, created using QLED technology. This means that its 65-inch matrix has quantum dots. Roughly speaking, such pixels are able to glow much brighter than their conventional counterparts. As a result, you can look at the screen of such a TV from any angle – you will definitely not notice a drop in brightness or color distortion. Also, such a display is 10-bit. This suggests that this is where the HDR picture looks best. Finally, one cannot fail to note the high frame rate – the matrix is capable of boasting a parameter of 120 Hz. In short, the smoothest and most color-saturated picture awaits you! Of course, 4K is used here, about Full HD it is better to forget now.

The operating system Tizen feels its best. The processor power and memory capacity are enough for the eyes. Slowdowns, of course, can be achieved, but this will require installing a huge number of additional applications. Internet access is carried out via high-speed Wi-Fi or LAN-port. There is also Bluetooth – it is needed to output sound to the wireless headphones and the One Remote to work properly.

Despite its very large size, the power consumption of the TV does not exceed 153 W. It was possible to slightly reduce this parameter precisely due to the use of a QLED matrix. The device weighs 28.2 kg. It was influenced not only by the huge screen, but also by the audio system. It consists of four 10W speakers, and the whole thing is complemented by a subwoofer. By the way, if you are going to watch TV, then this model will not have any questions either – it understands all digital standards, including satellite DVB-S2. It also includes three USB ports and four HDMI connectors. Only optical output is used for wired audio output.

Advantages

  • Increased sweep frequency;
  • A QLED matrix with a huge color gamut is used;
  • 4K resolution;
  • Stable operation of the operating system;
  • Excellent audio system;
  • Maximum viewing angles;
  • Large sizes;
  • All digital TV standards are supported;
  • Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth modules available;
  • A large number of connectors;
  • Voice control included.

disadvantages

  • Very high cost;
  • Low prevalence in Russia;
  • No 3.5mm audio jack.

Samsung UE55MU6100U

Rating: 4.8

Samsung UE55MU6100U

Our rating continues with a significantly less expensive TV. It does not use a QLED matrix, but a more traditional and familiar PLS display. Its diagonal is 54.6 inches. The viewing angles cannot be called maximum, but the distortions of the picture are extremely insignificant, not everyone will notice them. The image is displayed with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels. The matrix has a refresh rate of 50 Hz, like most 4K displays in this price segment. Interestingly, local dimming is implemented here. This gives hope for very deep blacks. However, this function does not work in the best way – someone will even turn it off. Well, as for brightness, it's extremely difficult to find fault with it – even when viewing HDR content, the picture does not seem too dim.

In the production of this Smart TV, the South Koreans almost did not save. In this regard, the product received a very powerful processor, due to which Tizen almost does not slow down. Nevertheless, if you make a direct comparison with similar models of 2018, you can notice a loss in speed. The store aggregators indicate that the operating system goes online only via Wi-Fi 802.11n. However, in the reviews, no one complains about the speed of receiving and transmitting data. Perhaps, support for a higher-speed standard is still implemented? Well, what you can't argue with is the presence of a Bluetooth – module here. It is through this technology that voice commands are transmitted, which are spoken into the complete remote control. If you are interested in wired connections, there are three HDMI connectors, a pair of USB ports and an Ethernet jack. Sound output – only through optical output. In the future, you will want to connect a home theater, as two 10-watt speakers will gradually seem small.

The device contains two independent TV tuners. The first is tailored for cable and terrestrial television, and the second – for satellite. The picture is easily written to a flash drive. However, many buyers will be much more likely to play videos from it instead. I am glad that almost all modern formats are supported by the standard player. It also understands downloaded folders with m2ts files. The “float” works well here, which literally draws additional frames.

Please note that the power consumption of the TV reaches a considerable value – 210 watts. There are also defective copies, on the screen of which a horizontal or vertical stripe appears. There are other cases of marriage – such a TV must be changed before the warranty period expires. If this scared you, then pay attention to the other models in our rating.

Advantages

  • Large diagonal;
  • Acceptable viewing angles;
  • High level of brightness;
  • There is support for satellite TV;
  • Present Bluetooth;
  • Comes with a remote that supports voice input;
  • Stable operation of the operating system;
  • 4K resolution.

disadvantages

  • A large percentage of defects;
  • Not very loud sound for such a diagonal;
  • The number of connectors could be higher;
  • Flimsy stand;
  • There is no 3.5mm jack.

Samsung UE49NU7100U

Rating: 4.8

Samsung UE49NU7100U

This Smart TV belongs to the 2018 lineup. The diagonal of its screen is 49 inches. This allows you to install the TV even in the bedroom, even in the living room – a kind of universal option turned out. 4K resolution looks perfect here – it's impossible to see individual pixels even from a short distance. Nevertheless, this is the junior model of the 7th series, and therefore it was not without simplifications. The frame rate of the matrix installed here is 50 Hz. Increasing to 100 Hz is possible, but only by software – by activating the corresponding function in the settings. The display was created using VA technology, which indicates medium viewing angles – you will definitely notice a decrease in brightness if you look at the TV from somewhere from the side. But on the other hand, such a matrix provides very deep blacks – in this regard, the TV is second only to QLED and OLED TVs, which are significantly more expensive (the latter are not yet represented in the 49-inch diagonal). Another simplification has to do with chromaticity. The point is that the matrix is 8-bit. This means that HDR content is not too different from normal content – not a dream of a billion colors.

The TV case is painted black, the frames are very narrow. Two legs are used as a stand – the structure is very stable. The device has not only a screen, but also a pair of speakers. The power of each is 10 W, which can be considered the standard for such a diagonal. The rear panel of the device contains three HDMI connectors and two USB ports. There is also a LAN socket, which is needed for a wired connection to the router. And this is almost irrelevant for this model, because the high-speed capabilities of Wi-Fi 802.11ac are quite enough for playing 4K content. An optical output is also located on the back wall – only it is used for sound output.

Unfortunately, Smart TV does not include a Bluetooth – module. That is why the delivery set includes a regular remote control that does not support voice input. It also makes it nearly impossible to connect headphones.

Advantages

  • Power consumption does not exceed 140 W;
  • The display has 4K resolution;
  • Deep black color;
  • Quite stable operation of the OS;
  • There is support for the satellite DVB-S2 standard;
  • There is a light sensor;
  • Wi-Fi 802.11ac is used;
  • Low cost.

disadvantages

  • Missing Bluetooth;
  • No 3.5mm audio jack;
  • Not very wide viewing angles;
  • Not a large number of HDMI and USB connectors.

Samsung UE43NU7400U

Rating: 4.7

Samsung UE43NU7400U

One of the smallest TVs in our ranking. On its front panel there is a VA-display, the diagonal of which does not exceed 42.5 inches (108 cm). In this case, the buyer is waiting for a full 4K resolution. It is precisely because of the compliance with the Ultra HD standard that the TV costs quite tangible 40 thousand rubles.

Like other devices from Samsung, this model is controlled by Tizen. The operating system, if it jams, is in the most rare cases. The Smart TV belongs to the 2018 lineup, so there is already a built-in Steam Link here, making it easy to transfer PC games.

The body of this model is painted black. The screen placed here has an anti-reflective coating. The sweep frequency here is equal to the standard 50 Hz. Using the software method, the picture can be made smoother – the TV copes with this task very well. Although it is better not to set the maximum smoothness level, otherwise you will find a lot of artifacts. The viewing angles are also average here. But the black color can be called very deep – the VA matrix does its job. The HDR effect is here on the 'four with a minus' – it feels like the display is only 8-bit.

The 42.5-inch diagonal means that the TV is ideal for installation in the bedroom. If your room has a large enough area, then such a screen will not be enough. An audio system, consisting of two speakers with a power of 10 watts, may not suit. Fortunately, sound can be easily output to a soundbar or home theater using the optical output. But headphones cannot be connected – there is neither a 3.5 mm audio jack nor Bluetooth. Due to the absence of the latter, the TV is supplied with a conventional remote control, which lacks a microphone. This imposes a certain limitation on the use of YouTube – entering a search query will take some time.

The connection to the router is carried out via the high-speed Wi-Fi 802.11ac standard. However, no one bothers to use a wired connection if suddenly such a need arose. In addition to the LAN port on the back, you can find three HDMI and two USB sockets. It should be noted that there is no USB 3.0 connector here, so it is better to play video with a very high bit rate not through this interface.

Advantages

  • The Wi-Fi module supports the 802.11ac standard;
  • A 4K screen is used;
  • Extremely deep black;
  • Implemented support for satellite TV;
  • Not very high power consumption; Weight comp
  • Weight 12.1 kg (including stand).

disadvantages

  • Missing Bluetooth;
  • No 3.5mm audio jack;
  • Part of the circulation – with IPS-matrix;
  • Many copies with exposure;
  • Supplied with a simplified remote control.

Best Smart TVs on OS Android TV

Sony KD-49XE8096

Rating: 4.9

Sony KD-49XE8096

If image quality is very important to you, then be sure to pay attention to this TV. A lot of people say Sony makes a huge markup for the brand. But in reality this is not so – the high cost is due to a better picture. Sony KD-49XE8096 is a vivid confirmation of this. However, not without reservations.

The buyer of this model is waiting for rich colors and high brightness of the backlight. Also, the TV is able to boast of maximum viewing angles, while the mid-budget competitors from LG and Samsung will either have color distortion or brightness drop. However, there are a couple, if not problems, then limitations. It uses 8-bit color depth (which most buyers won't even notice). And the TV does not melt the dynamic picture well. If the image fills the entire screen, then everything is in order. If there are black stripes above and below, then jerks begin. This is a software problem that hasn't been resolved for several years.

The screen of this Smart TV is 48.5 inches (123 cm) diagonal. The product is also capable of boasting a very thin frame. The sound is output by two speakers with a power of 10 W each – in this regard, Sony decided not to overdo it. If you do not want to wake up the half sleeping next to you or your children, you can connect headphones. This can be done through a 3.5 mm audio jack or Bluetooth – module. This immediately sets the TV apart from South Korean products. There are also three USB ports and four HDMI jacks on the rear panel. In a word, there will definitely be no problems with connecting equipment to the device!

This model supports all digital TV standards, including terrestrial DVB-T2 and satellite DVB-S2. As for the Internet access, it is carried out via cable or Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Android TV is responsible for information processing. The operating system slows down, but in quite rare cases. I am glad that the ability to install programs from third-party sources has not gone anywhere – this is how you can find a torrent client and other similar software.

Advantages

  • The screen has a rich color gamut;
  • Maximum viewing angles;
  • A very large number of connectors;
  • Headphones connect without any problem;
  • 4K resolution;
  • All digital TV standards are supported;
  • Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth modules are built.

disadvantages

  • Strange working 'float';
  • High price;
  • Increased power consumption;
  • Complete with a simple remote control;
  • An external power supply is used.

Philips 49PUS6412

Rating: 4.8

Philips 49PUS6412

This TV made it to our rating thanks to its thin silver-painted bezel. However, not only to her. We remember how at one time Philips TVs excited the public. Their backlighting behind the screen, called Ambilight, visually expands the picture. Many people are ready to buy such a device just because of her! Well, such consumers are encouraged to take a look at Philips 49PUS6412. This model operates under the control of Android TV – an operating system for which a huge number of applications have been created. Optimization is on the level, although it still cannot be called ideal.

The front of the Smart TV features a 4K resolution IPS display with a diagonal of 48.5 inches (123 cm). Perhaps, the main disadvantages of the device stem from the matrix used. The viewing angles are good here, but a slight fading of the picture is still noticeable. But most of all, the black color disappoints – it is far from ideal here. Also, some copies sin with dark corners – this is the result of the use of Direct LED backlighting. But the central part of the screen is illuminated as uniformly as possible.

Do not think that we are trying to scare you. The creators' flaws are invisible to the vast majority of unassuming buyers – this is confirmed by numerous reviews. But you cannot but complain about the limited Bluetooth. It is present here, but it is extremely difficult to connect something to it – it supports the minimum number of audio systems. It comes to the point that it is easier to connect wired headphones, the jack for which, fortunately, is present on the rear panel. Not far from the 3.5mm 'jack' are four HDMI sockets and a pair of USB ports. Connecting to the Internet can also be done wired. In fact, this is the only connection method that provides a comfortable viewing of 4K-resolution online content. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi does not support the 802.11ac standard, and therefore at certain times it lacks bandwidth.

If we are talking about the global web, then it should be noted the easy entry of URLs and some search queries. For this purpose, a QWERTY keyboard is located on the back of the remote control, which is very convenient to use. As for the rest, this is an ordinary remote control that does not have the function of pointing or receiving voice commands.

The device allows you to connect to it even cable TV, even a satellite dish. The TV is supported on the cabinet by an elegant D-shaped stand. The sound is output by two 10-watt speakers – in this regard, this model will hardly surprise you with anything. In a word, this is a very good option for your money. As you may have noticed, competitors with similar characteristics cost a good ten thousand rubles more.

Advantages

  • 4K resolution;
  • Low cost for such a diagonal;
  • Ambilight lighting implemented;
  • Decent viewing angles;
  • There is support for all digital TV standards;
  • A large number of HDMI connectors;
  • Elegant design.

disadvantages

  • It is not possible to delete channels;
  • The remote would be nice to have smart features;
  • Low contrast level;
  • Wi-Fi does not understand the 802.11ac standard;
  • Electoral Bluetooth – module;
  • Someone will lack a third USB port.

BBK 50LEX-6027 / UTS2C

Rating: 4.6

BBK 50LEX-6027 / UTS2C

Many people choose to buy LCD TVs from the three most famous brands. But still, we must admit that such devices have a slightly overpriced price tag. Alas, not all residents of Russia are able to boast of a large salary. If your funds are also severely limited, it is better to look at cheaper TVs. For example, a good model with a 49.5-inch screen was presented by the Chinese company BBK Electronics. In Russian retail, this LCD TV costs 26 thousand rubles, which is quite acceptable for such a diagonal.

So, what will the buyer have to put up with? Firstly, with a fairly wide frame – it immediately catches the eye. Secondly, with not the highest reliability – we would not count on a ten-year service life (although a certain percentage of the copies produced will last even longer). Thirdly, you will definitely have to tinker with the settings – by default, the colors on the screen will be incorrect. Fourthly, the operating system Android TV does not work very well here. However, if you only use YouTube, then getting used to the firmware will not be difficult. Finally, there is a very faint sound here. The Smart TV turned out to be quite large, and the speakers inside it are only 8 watts.

Like the models discussed above, the BBK product is capable of boasting 4K resolution. However, if you want to watch a movie in this resolution, you will have to 'shamanize'. The fact is that the operating system installed here copes with the reproduction of such heavy content with great difficulty. The problem is solved, as they say, by dancing with a tambourine.

The manufacturer does not specify by what technology the matrix is made. However, there are practically no complaints about the quality of the picture in the reviews, so we can safely say that the display will definitely suit an unassuming buyer. There is even support for HDR, albeit in a somewhat truncated form. You can upload content in a variety of ways. To implement DLNA, you need to install an application that supports this technology. Communication with the global web is carried out either by wire or via Wi-Fi 802.11n. You can also use external sources of images – for example, a game console. Three USB ports and the same number of HDMI connectors are intended for connecting those. Also, the Chinese have not forgotten the headphone output.

The best thing about the simplest components is the weight of the device – it does not exceed 10.4 kg, and this is already taking into account the stand!

Advantages

  • Decent display with a large diagonal;
  • The TV turned out to be light enough;
  • A decent number of connectors for this price;
  • It is possible to connect headphones;
  • All digital TV standards are supported.

disadvantages

  • It's better not to melt the picture;
  • Missing Bluetooth;
  • Inconvenient remote control;
  • Very weak sound;
  • Wi-Fi does not support 802.11ac;
  • The operating system lacks the power of the installed components.

The best smart TVs running webOS

LG OLED 65C7V

Rating: 4.9

LG OLED 65C7V

One of the most expensive TVs in our ranking. Its high cost is due to the presence of OLED – matrix. OLEDs do not require a separate backlit layer, making the TV panel extremely thin. It also contributed to an almost infinite contrast – black here is exactly what it should be.

The screen installed here is 64.5 inches (164 cm), and the bezels are kept to a minimum. Oddly enough, even such a huge TV can be supported by a stand. Although no one will argue with the fact that it is better to hang it on the wall. Large sizes allow us to recommend installing this model exclusively in large halls – this is definitely not the best choice for a bedroom or a children's room.

The matrix used here has a higher frame rate. This has a positive effect on the viewing of dynamic content. Also, Smart TV is able to boast of perfect HDR support, because the color depth is brought up to 10 bits. You can watch the video on OLED – the screen via an Internet connection. For this, of course, Wi-Fi 802.11ac is used. However, no one forbids using the wired connection to the router if it seems more stable to you. As for interaction with other devices, the creators placed four HDMI sockets and three USB ports on the back wall OLED of the TV. More, perhaps, is not necessary.

Inside this model there are two TV tuners, which allows you to watch cable, terrestrial, and satellite TV. But practice shows that the owners of such TVs prefer to watch much higher quality content – for example, HDR movies. If we talk about sound, then it is given by four speakers with a power of 10 watts. Separately dedicated subwoofer, so you can achieve ideal low frequencies that do not drown out people's voices and other sounds. If you have a home theater or soundbar, then you can use the optical audio output. There is no headphone jack, but hardly anyone wants to use a wired accessory with such a huge TV.

WebOS works here without any complaints. It is felt that the South Koreans did not spare money for a powerful processor and a sufficiently large amount of memory. To control the system, you can use voice commands, a special pointer (its movements are influenced by a gyroscope) or traditional button presses on the remote control.

Advantages

  • Equipped with a convenient Magic Remote;
  • Available Bluetooth and Wi-Fi;
  • Not a bad, if not perfect, audio system;
  • Perfect contrast;
  • OLED – the screen has a high refresh rate and 10-bit color depth;
  • Smart TV works perfectly;
  • There is support for all digital TV standards;
  • A large number of connectors;
  • Slim bezels.

disadvantages

  • Very high cost;
  • Some buyers complain about the stability of Wi-Fi signal reception.

LG OLED 55B7V

Rating: 4.8

LG OLED 55B7V

Another OLED is a TV with Smart TV in this rating, which is already much more affordable. In Russian stores, this device is offered to be purchased for 100 thousand rubles. It is easy to guess that such a TV will not have the largest diagonal. Indeed, the buyer is waiting for 54.6 inches (139 cm). This is the minimum from which modern OLED TVs start. But we must admit that even this will be a lot for some small room.

Of course, the screen is capable of boasting full 4K resolution. Contrast is perfect, black is real on such a screen. The display also has 10-bit color depth, so HDR videos show the maximum possible. It should also be noted that the refresh rate is high, which makes dynamic scenes very smooth.

It uses webOS as the operating system. This means the customer will enjoy intuitive operation. Lagging is practically excluded, especially if you do not forget to update the software to the latest version. The set with the TV comes with a proprietary Magic Remote pointer.

Of course, such a device could not do without high-speed wireless modules. Against this background, the absence of a 3.5 mm jack does not upset at all – in any case, it is much easier to use Bluetooth – headphones. But four HDMI-jacks and three USB-ports cause only joyful feelings, because with them you can forget about the AV-receiver. It uses four 10W speakers to output sound. If this does not seem enough, then an optical audio output will come to the rescue, to which a soundbar or home theater is connected. You can also find a couple of antenna inputs on the back panel – they are designed for watching terrestrial, cable TV and, of course, 'satellite'.

It seems that the capabilities of this Smart TV will be enough for many people with their heads. If standard models do not have a very high brightness margin, then this parameter is doubled here. That is why you will quickly highlight OLED with your eyes – a TV that stands on the store counter next to devices with a less advanced screen.

Advantages

  • Large OLED – display with 10-bit color depth;
  • Increased refresh rates are supported;
  • 4K resolution;
  • Built-in satellite TV tuner;
  • A normally working operating system;
  • The set includes an advanced remote control;
  • Good built-in acoustics;
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11ac are supported;
  • A large number of connectors.

disadvantages

  • High price;
  • The LAN port speed is only 100 Mbps.

LG 49SJ810V

Rating: 4.7

LG 49SJ810V

Some people will definitely call this TV the best among those that do not include a QLED or OLED matrix. After all, we will not be so categorical. Nevertheless, this model definitely could not fail to enter our rating of the best Smart TVs. This device has an IPS panel with a diagonal of 49.5 inches (126 cm). It supports Nano Cell technology, which supposedly makes the picture brighter. Unfortunately, if you look at the sensor under a microscope, you will notice that white has been added to the green, red and blue subpixels. This negatively affects the color reproduction – if it is possible to achieve natural and natural colors, then only a very long fuss with the settings. Also, when compared directly with another 4K TV, it may seem that the picture here is slightly blurry.

However, you should not be afraid. There are a lot of buyers who are 100% satisfied with the device – numerous positive reviews only confirm this. This model looks great thanks to the thin bezels and elegant arched stand. Viewing angles are close to maximum (but you can still notice some fading of the picture). There is also a mode that makes the picture smoother – this also has a positive effect on perception. There are three USB ports and four HDMI connectors on the back of the TV, which is more than enough for connecting game consoles and other equipment. Not forgotten is the Ethernet port, which is required for wired connection to the router. But it is much easier to use Wi-Fi 802.11ac for this (someday he will definitely tell about the best routers supporting this standard).

In terms of sound, Smart TV LG 49SJ810V does not offer anything unusual. There are two 10W speakers built in here. If you want to get the most out of your movie watching experience, it's best to get a soundbar or home theater system. This model is also capable of boasting a pair of TV tuners, which indicates the possibility of connecting a satellite dish.

It remains to add that the product has a very low power consumption – even regular use of the TV will hardly affect your electricity bills.

Advantages

  • 4K resolution;
  • The TV does a good job of fusing the picture;
  • There is support for all digital TV standards;
  • The operating system works without any complaints;
  • The set includes a Magic Remote;
  • Good viewing angles;
  • A large number of connectors;
  • There are modules Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11ac;
  • There is a headphone jack;
  • Power consumption is only 85 watts.

disadvantages

  • Still, the price tag will not suit everyone;
  • A white subpixel can make the picture appear grayer.

LG 43UJ630V

Rating: 4.7

LG 43UJ630V

The cheapest LCD TV in our selection. At the same time, there is also webOS here – a full-fledged operating system that allows you to install several additional applications. The picture is displayed here on an IPS display with a diagonal of 42.5 inches (108 cm). This TV will look perfect in the bedroom or any other small room. The low cost had a negative impact on the width of the frames. Also, not everyone can be satisfied with the plastic from which most of the case and stand are made. Against this background, it is surprising that such an inexpensive TV has not been deprived of a satellite TV tuner! Also encouraging is the fact that the South Koreans have become generous with a wireless module that supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac. If this standard was not recognized, you would have to connect the TV to the router via a wire – otherwise, there would be big problems with online playback of 4K content.

This model supports HDR. But in reality, you are unlikely to notice major changes in games when you activate this mode. The point is that a 10-bit matrix is not used here. But even worse, the very bright backlight affects the HDR display – it makes blacks look not very natural. And it is not recommended to lower the brightness – in this case the image will be too dark. But this is a long-standing misfortune of 4K TVs with IPS screens – it's not for nothing that they are cheaper than their VA counterparts, not to mention QLED models.

Sound output is handled by a standard audio system consisting of two 10-watt speakers. In the future, you can buy a soundbar or home theater system by outputting sound through an optical audio output. If you have wireless headphones, they will also come in handy – there is a corresponding module here. And also Bluetooth allows you to use the Magic Remote, which makes control easier. But you have to buy it separately, which is a bit disappointing.

In fact, you can find fault with this Smart TV, but you don't want to do this at all. Yes, not a record number of connectors are built in here. But the vast majority of owners of 43-inch LCD panels have only two HDMI sockets occupied, and here there are even three. Seriously, perhaps, you can only complain about the structure of the matrix – the company LG used a white subpixel. Because of this, color reproduction is rarely perfect. But, again, not every unassuming buyer will pay attention to the dirty white colors, which often turn into gray.

Advantages

  • 4K screen
  • A well-functioning operating system;
  • Quite decent viewing angles;
  • There is support for all digital TV standards;
  • Built-in Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth modules;
  • The optimal number of HDMI connectors for such a diagonal;
  • Low cost.

disadvantages

  • Matrix structure – RGBW;
  • Only two USB ports;
  • Includes a simple remote control;
  • Fusion does not always work perfectly;
  • Weak HDR effect.

Best Smart TVs on Alternative Platforms

Sony KD-55XF7096

Rating: 4.9

Sony KD-55XF7096

For a long time, Japanese manufacturers of LCD TVs could not decide which operating system to use in their devices. As a result, a considerable number of devices came off the assembly line of the Sony plant, the functionality of which is provided by Linux. In fact, this is an ordinary firmware, which is supplemented by some popular services – for example, through this operating system, you can open YouTube or some kind of online cinema. However, we do not recommend counting on more. There is an Internet browser here, but its speed is far from ideal. You should forget about downloading additional applications.

Well, how does the TV show itself, if you forget about its 'smart' component? Almost perfect. On its front panel is an IPS-matrix with a diagonal of 54.6 inches (139 cm). There are no white subpixels here, and the brightness of the backlight is significantly increased. All this allows you to enjoy a wonderful picture in full 4K-resolution, which also has almost ideal viewing angles. It's not for nothing that Sony products are usually bought precisely because of the quality of the image. Separately, it should be noted that the Direct LED backlight is used here – it completely excludes the appearance of instances with light at the edges of the screen. HDR shows itself quite well here, although the picture cannot be called ideal in this mode.

Otherwise, this is a typical modern 4K TV. He understands all digital TV standards including satellite DVB-S2. Three HDMI jacks are used to receive pictures from external sources. The same number of USB ports allows you to connect a large number of external drives and peripherals. Or power the SNES Classic Mini game console. But the manufacturer saved on wireless modules – the Wi-Fi 802.11n bandwidth is not always enough, Bluetooth is completely absent here. It's good that the 3.5mm audio jack hasn't gone anywhere, otherwise the buyer would have lost the ability to connect headphones altogether. By the way, simple speakers with a power of 10 W are used here – in the future you will definitely want to bring the sound to something more serious.

It remains to add that the Smart TV turned out to be very large, and therefore its power consumption is appropriate. Also, this model does not have the best image melting, when there are black stripes above and below.

Advantages

  • 4K resolution;
  • Excellent viewing angles;
  • Good brightness;
  • There is support for all digital TV standards;
  • Quite a large number of connectors;
  • There is a headphone jack.

disadvantages

  • Not the best operating system;
  • Missing Bluetooth;
  • Not the fastest Wi-Fi;
  • High power consumption;
  • The cost will not suit everyone;
  • Comes with an unremarkable remote control.

Sony KD-55XE7096

Rating: 4.8

Sony KD-55XE7096

This TV is not too different from the one discussed above. It is definitely newer – it is one of the freshest representatives of our rating. The appearance of his stand has changed a lot – now it is D-shaped. Well, the frames, perhaps, have become even thinner. The display is used about the same. It has a diagonal of 54.6 inches. The viewing angles are maximum, which is good news. Also, one cannot fail to note the juicy colors. The HDR effect is also quite good here, although it is still far from OLED TVs. The scanning frequency is normal here, but the program can easily make the picture smoother. However, the trouble with melting with black stripes above and below is preserved here.

Sony is the only TV maker to constantly rush from one operating system to another. Opera TV is installed here – an atypical operating system, sharpened exclusively for TV. This is already better than Linux, however, in terms of the number of available applications, the operating system is much inferior to Tizen and WebOS. However, if you only watch online cinemas and YouTube, you won't even notice this drawback!

The Smart TV comes with a regular remote control. And how can it be different if there is simply no Bluetooth? I am glad that at least a headphone jack is present. Well, Internet access is carried out via Wi-Fi 802.11n. But it's better to connect to the router with a cable – this will make it easier to watch 4K content online.

It remains to add that the product has a standard audio system consisting of two 10W speakers. If this does not seem enough, then you can use the optical audio output by connecting a home theater or soundbar to it.

Advantages

  • Great appearance;
  • 4K resolution;
  • Good color rendering;
  • Excellent viewing angles;
  • Three HDMI connectors and USB ports;
  • There is a headphone jack;
  • All digital TV standards are supported.

disadvantages

  • No Bluetooth;
  • Not very fast Wi-Fi;
  • High price;
  • Not the best operating system;
  • The most common remote control.

Panasonic TX-55EXR600

Rating: 4.7

Panasonic TX-55EXR600

Another atypical representative of our rating. The Japanese manufacturer installed Firefox OS here. This operating system was originally developed for use on smartphones. However, things did not go beyond the release of several models. But now this operating system can be found in some Smart TVs. It differs from analogs in its high speed of operation and a very small size of applications. The only pity is that there are very few of these programs.

A 139-centimeter IPS panel is used as a screen. Colors are natural, viewing angles are wide enough. However, the contrast is quite low – this is the main drawback of all IPS displays. This means the HDR effect will be subtle. Screen refresh rates are standard, but the software floatation works pretty well. In a word, the buyer is expected to have an average quality display. The Japanese are far behind Sony in this regard, but they are slightly superior to the products of their South Korean counterparts.

The product has received support for terrestrial, cable and satellite television. Sound is output to standard 10-watt speakers. In the future, the buyer may acquire a soundbar – it is connected via an optical audio output. Also on the back of the TV are three HDMI sockets and a pair of USB sockets. There is also an Ethernet port. It comes in handy if your router does not support the high-speed 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard.

Otherwise, this is a typical inexpensive LCD TV. It comes with an ordinary remote control. He doesn't have Bluetooth. At least the light sensor is not forgotten. However, many buyers prefer to turn it off – not everyone likes a dark picture, and this is what it becomes when the lights are turned off in the evening.

Advantages

  • Good viewing angles;
  • 4K resolution;
  • There is support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac; Yes
  • b headphone jack;
  • A fairly large number of HDMI and USB jacks;
  • Support for all digital TV standards has been implemented.

disadvantages

  • Missing Bluetooth;
  • The picture quality does not suit everyone;
  • There are questions about reliability;
  • Not a very large number of applications;
  • Regular remote control.

Conclusion

As you may have noticed, we have completely bypassed compact TVs, whose screen diagonal does not reach 43 inches. The fact is that even if such devices receive Smart TV, they work extremely slowly. This is due to the fact that small and inexpensive LCD TVs are embedded with a weak processor and minimal memory. As a result, their customers quickly stop using smart features as they only cause annoyance. Therefore, if you want to enjoy your TV with Smart TV, then consider buying at least a 43-inch model.
