The 29 best ski boots

Ratings of the best sports and leisure goods

Review of the best according to the editorial board. On the selection criteria. This material is subjective and does not constitute advertising and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before buying, you need to consult with a specialist.

Snowboarding or skiing involves the use of specialized boots. And if this skiing is not a one-time ride, then it is better to get the most comfortable and durable shoes. Its plus is that you can sell your ski boots for quite a lot of money if you suddenly no longer like the snowy slopes. In short, let's get to know the best ski boots in a wide variety of price segments.

How to choose ski boots?

Looking at the variety of ski shoes, you want to forget forever about your desire to go high-speed skiing or snowboarding. Indeed, the assortment is wide and the choice is difficult. Let's at least briefly go over the main characteristics of ski boots.

  1. First of all, you need to determine the level of training. If you are reading this article, then for sure you need shoes for beginners. Typically, these boots have a low degree of rigidity. This makes riding more comfortable, but you should not rely on maximum accuracy and control – they are provided only by high rigidity.

  2. When choosing ski boots, special attention is paid to their size. You need to know the length of your foot, it is this that is indicated on the tag of similar shoes. It is not necessary to measure it, because special conversion plates will help you. When trying on boots, make sure your thumbs lightly touch the toe of the shoe. Do not buy boots that feel too loose, as this can lead to poor control and even injury. But your fingers shouldn't touch the edge of the boot either.

  3. It is necessary to take into account not only the length of the foot, but also the weight of the person who is going to ride in ski boots. The larger it is, the higher rigidity is required. These words can be pronounced in relation to a person's height.

  4. The ski boots are also influenced by the skiing location. If you intend to use them in a regular park, where all the tracks are flat and strictly marked, you will need boots with low stiffness, low weight and the presence of shock-absorbing inserts. Freeride will require ski boots with high stiffness, walking / skiing, warm and thick inner boot, and medium last. Well, in sports competitions, boots are used with a narrow last, a large angle of inclination of the bootleg forward, maximum rigidity and a thin inner boot.

And we only talked about the basics of choosing ski boots! If you are interested in this topic, write about it in the comments, then we will definitely devote a separate material to it. Now let's move on to the features of specific models.

Best ski boots for beginners

ATOMIC Hawx Magna 80

Rating: 4.9

ATOMIC Hawx Magna 80.jpg

Quite popular ski boots, which are sold like hot cakes before the season starts. However, they may seem boring to some. They are almost completely white, except for the manufacturer's logos and the model name.

These boots have a wide block that will not injure the foot if careless actions are suddenly committed. The added volume in the bottom and lifting area also contributes to ease of use. Shoeing is also light here, for which one should thank the wide tongue and special construction.

Hawx boots are manufactured in Romania. They are designed for beginner skiers, so there is no walk / ski switch or hardness level. The outer part of this model is made of plastic, while the inner part is made of ethylene vinyl acetate. In general, these boots correspond to a hardness level of 80. If you are a short and light person, then it is better to look for yourself some other model.

Advantages

  • The boots are very comfortable;
  • Manufactured in Romania;
  • Large pad width;
  • The clips are made of aluminum;
  • Adjustment of clips is available;
  • Suitable for both women and men;
  • Low cost;
  • Easy to put on.

disadvantages

  • No mode switches;
  • Available in black only.

HEAD Next Edge XP W

Rating: 4.8

HEAD Next Edge XP W.jpg

These relatively inexpensive ski boots have a stiffness index of 60, which makes them very comfortable. The width of the last here varies from 98 to 102, depending on the selected size. Each boot also comes with a 35mm strap that can be easily fastened.

The comfort last is not the main advantage of this model. She is also able to boast of a high-quality three-component plastic energy structure. You can complain that the clips are also plastic here. But they have micro and macro adjustments. This allows for an almost perfect fit of the boot to your foot.

Otherwise, the product is unlikely to surprise you with anything. It has a system to facilitate entry and exit. It uses double canting. But which ski boots worth 10 thousand rubles are not able to boast of this?

Advantages

  • Stiffness ideal for beginners;
  • Made of excellent quality plastic;
  • Comfortable inner boot;
  • Double canting has been implemented;
  • Clips lend themselves to different adjustments;
  • The cost is not very high;
  • Wide shoe;
  • Unisex.

disadvantages

  • Plastic clips;
  • No mode switches.

Fischer Cruzar X 8.5

Rating: 4.7

Fischer Crusar X 8.5.jpg

Another ski boots painted black. But there are many red and white inserts here, so this design still cannot be called boring. These are one of the cheapest boots in the Fischer line, they ask for from 8 thousand rubles. But do not think that the product is much inferior to more expensive competitors. In many ways, this model has similar characteristics, losing only in details. For example, these boots are definitely not suitable for a professional, since they are unlikely to be able to control skis as accurately as possible. This is not facilitated by at least the 80th hardness index. But on the other hand, a beginner skier will appreciate it, because the above figure speaks of comfortable skiing.

Like most ski boots on sale now, the Fischer Cruzar X 8.5 is unisex. Therefore, both a man and a woman can wear them. The shoe width here reaches 103 mm. This is a good setting and is also ideal for a beginner. The outer boot of this product is made of polypropylene. The inner one was created from ethylene vinyl acetate. Separately, it should be noted four clips made of aluminum. Hopefully, they will make the boots more durable. The clips, by the way, can be adjusted in every possible way. But there are no mode switches on the boot – not the same price level.

It remains to add that the strap width here is 45 mm. This and all of the above makes it clear that the Fischer Cruzar X 8.5 will definitely be to your taste if you are expected to ride on a prepared track, if you are an ordinary tourist. The only pity is that it is not so easy to find this model in stores, they buy it up very quickly.

Advantages

  • Made in the Czech Republic;
  • Large pad width;
  • High quality inner boot;
  • Low cost;
  • Aluminum clips;
  • Great design.

disadvantages

  • There are no mode switches;
  • Someone may not seem tough enough.

HEAD Cube 3 60 W

Rating: 4.7

HEAD Cube 3 60 W.jpg

These boots seem to have been covered with snow. This impression is caused by the white color, there are practically no inserts of a different color here. However, you can also find a black variation of boots on sale. This is no longer such a cheap model, in Russian online stores they ask about 15 thousand rubles for it. This cost is due to the presence of a switch for riding and walking modes. The corresponding button is located above the heel of the boot. If you don't know it, you might not even notice it!

These boots have a system to facilitate entry and exit, which somewhat simplifies their use. By the way, it promises to be comfortable, because the product has a not particularly rigid structure and a 104 mm last (at a size of 26.5). More specifically, the HEAD Cube 3 60 W boots received a stiffness index of 60, which is reflected in their name.

You must have already noticed that this is a female model. Indeed, girls who regularly wear high-heeled shoes will feel most comfortable in them. And they will like the appearance of the product more.

Advantages

  • Switching modes available;
  • Wide shoe;
  • Implemented a system to facilitate entry and exit;
  • Clips can be adjusted;
  • Ideal rigidity for a beginner;
  • There are two colors to choose from;
  • The upper clip is made of aluminum.

disadvantages

  • Seldom sell at an affordable price;
  • The leg support may seem inadequate.

Salomon X Access R60

Rating: 4.6

Salomon X Access R60.jpg

Outwardly, these ski boots look like professional ones. Looking at them, you begin to imagine yourself, rushing down the slope at great speed, and then receiving a medal. That's what the sold design does! After that, it's not at all a pity for those 10 thousand rubles that they ask for these shoes.

Unlike the female model discussed above, more clips are used here. This makes putting on a little longer, but the leg is fixed in the product much better. Moreover, these boots are also considered women's. Although they are already as close to unisex as possible, so men are unlikely to refuse to use them. The French company manufactures this model in Romania, there are absolutely no complaints about its assembly.

The clips of these boots are micro-adjustable. Metal was used to create them, so the product can be safely called reliable.

Several proprietary technologies were used in the design of the Salomon X Access R60. Oversized Pivot has reduced the amount of play between the bottom of the boot and the shaft. This increased the efficiency of the transfer of forces, since the lateral stiffness became almost ideal. Well, the second technology is TwinFrame. It consists in creating the upper part of the chassis from a softer plastic, thanks to which the product fits perfectly to the foot. Well, the lower part, created from dense plastic, perfectly transfers all the efforts to the ski.

Advantages

  • Optimal rigidity for a beginner;
  • The outer part of the boot is made of plastic of different density;
  • Suitable for both women and men;
  • Great appearance;
  • Reliable and adjustable clips;
  • Not very high cost;
  • Manufactured in Romania;
  • The shoe width reaches 104 mm.

disadvantages

  • No mode switching.

The best men's ski boots

HEAD Cube 3 90

Rating: 4.9

HEAD Cube 3 90.jpg

Someone can call these boots professional, their design is so well thought out. In fact, of course, they are not, as evidenced, for example, by a wide shoe. However, there is something from the more expensive models designed for professionals. This is a button to automatically switch between walking and riding modes.

These boots correspond to a stiffness index of 90. This product was created for those who like comfort. The manufacturer assures that in his boots you can spend whole days on the slope. In fact, no one checked this statement, since mostly beginners who do not spend so much time on the track make their choice in favor of this model. In their reviews, they note a quick shoe, which is ensured by the corresponding system. Thanks to it, the removal of boots is also accelerated.

This representative of our selection received a two-component plastic energy construction. This means that there is a harder material under the heel that transfers all the forces to the ski well. With the boots on, you get a 6-degree heel lift and an approximately 16-degree cuff slope. Well, numerous adjustments of the clips are sure to ensure the most comfortable fit.

Advantages

  • The pad width can be up to 106 mm;
  • Attractive design;
  • There is a switch for walking / rolling modes;
  • There is a system to facilitate entry and exit;
  • There are numerous adjustments;
  • The outer boot is made of two-component plastic.

disadvantages

  • Still intended for advanced skiers;
  • The price will not suit everyone.

Salomon X Pro 120

Rating: 4.8

Salomon X Pro 120.jpg

Our review could not do without ski boots designed for people who spend at least a couple of months on the slope every season. Such people will like the model called Salomon X Pro 120. As you could already understand, it has a stiffness index of 120. This is no longer the best option for a beginner, he may feel noticeable discomfort. But on the other hand, such boots allow you to control alpine skiing as accurately as possible. And the product transfers absolutely all the energy to them. In short, this is the case when ski boots help in passing the trails for a while. Or even, what the devil is not joking, in the development of completely new routes, on which there is still a large layer of snow.

Despite its status, this model received a fairly wide last. To be precise, its width varies from 100 to 106 mm, depending on the chosen size. Inside the product is the My Customfit 3D Race Liner boot, made from EVA. Well, for the production of the outer boot, three-component plastic was used. Four aluminum clips can be found here. They all have a fairly large number of adjustments. As for the strap, its width is 45 mm.

Despite the high cost, the product did not receive a walk / ride button. But there is another switch here that cannot be found on cheaper boots. It is about changing the level of hardness. A professional will find this much more useful! So you can instantly switch from ordinary comfortable skiing on a public slope to a sports competition. The stiffness is adjusted by changing the angle of the shaft.

Advantages

  • Manufactured in Romania;
  • The width of the shoe should suit everyone;
  • A thermoformed boot is used;
  • There is a hardness switch;
  • High reliability of all clips;
  • Lots of adjustments;
  • Great design.

disadvantages

  • Not the best option for newbies;
  • There is no system to facilitate entry and exit;
  • No walk / ride switch.

HEAD Advant Edge 105

Rating: 4.7

HEAD Advant Edge 105.jpg

These ski boots are relatively inexpensive. At the same time, the buyer is offered several of their options – they are painted in different colors. It may seem like a great choice for a beginner skier. In fact, this is not the case. Firstly, the middle last is used here, for beginners it will not seem wide enough. Secondly, the boots meet a stiffness index of 105. Again, beginners will experience some discomfort.

FORM FIT thermoforming plastic was used to manufacture the outside of the HEAD Advant Edge 105. Also included in the product is the Perfect Fit thermowell. All this allows us to hope that both boots will be perfectly shaped to the wearer's foot. This should provide maximum efficiency and comfort.

The canting hinge in this product is displaced back by 14 mm. This is supposed to improve ski control and make taxiing more informative. In general, the manufacturer claims that his boots provide the transfer of forces by 30-40% better than cheaper counterparts.

With a shoe size of 26.5, a 102mm last is used here. It also uses an elongated language, which in theory should simplify entry and exit. Perhaps, it's not for nothing that the manufacturer ranked his creation at once into two types. These are like sports boots that allow you to accurately monitor the behavior of the skis. But at the same time it is a comfortable model. By the way, the stiffness adjustment is available here – the corresponding index is reduced to 95 quite easily. However, this still calls into question the purchase of the HEAD Advant Edge 105 by a beginner who rides only on public slopes located in tourist areas.

Advantages

  • The boots turned out to be versatile;
  • Change of hardness is available;
  • Not very high cost;
  • Very wide last;
  • Putting on and taking off your boot is not a problem;
  • Aluminum clips are used;
  • A large number of adjustments.

disadvantages

  • A beginner will find it too tough;
  • No walk / ride switch.

ATOMIC Hawx Prime 100

Rating: 4.7

ATOMIC Hawx Prime 100.jpg

And these are already full-fledged sports ski boots. There is no stiffness switching here, which would make life easier for a beginner. Therefore, the product corresponds to a hardness index of 100, and not a single less. Also, a beginner will not appreciate a block whose width does not exceed 100 mm here.

Here you can see that the boots are designed for powerful riding. With this style, an asymmetrical reinforced backbone comes into play, which enhances edge grip and adds power. The leg inside the product is strictly fixed. At the same time, the Memory Fit 3D Gold inner boot cannot be called uncomfortable. It's nice that high-quality insulation is used here. Its fibers are very thin, thanks to which a large amount of air is retained in the boot. Well, the modern technology of thermoforming will make the shoes perfectly fit to the foot in just a few minutes.

As expected, the product has received a large number of all kinds of adjustments. It also boasts an attractive design. In a word, it is not surprising that these boots cost about 26 thousand rubles. A product for experienced skiers must be expensive, there is nothing you can do about it. It remains to add that this is a men's model, available in 14 sizes and two colors.

Advantages

  • Micro-adjustable aluminum clips;
  • Attractive appearance;
  • Two colors to choose from;
  • Branded insulation is used;
  • Heat-formed zones of the heel, sides and ankles;
  • Good ski handling.

disadvantages

  • For beginners, the last will not seem wide enough;
  • High price;
  • There are no mode and hardness switches.

HEAD FX GT

Rating: 4.6

HEAD FX GT.jpg

Excellent men's ski boots, sold for only 14 thousand rubles, and sometimes even cheaper. You can also find a female model in stores with a slightly changed design – its name is supplemented with the letter 'W'. And if above we began to consider boots designed not so much for beginners as for experienced athletes, then the HEAD FX GT is a product for people who value comfort. It corresponds to a stiffness index of 60. In professional skiing, such boots, if they do not fall apart, will definitely not allow you to perfectly control your skis.

The volume of this model is 2200 cubic meters. see. Despite the low cost, the product received a full-fledged power frame. Only plastic clips can confuse. They offer super-macro adjustments that allow the boot to fit your foot. As for the last, it varies from 102 to 106 mm, depending on the size of the chosen boot. By the way, HEAD FX GT is a rather rare case when you can even find on sale versions with sizes 28 and 29, designed for people with very large feet.

This model received a system to facilitate entry and exit, which once again testifies to the purpose of the boots. The shoe includes the familiar 35mm belt. Otherwise, nothing special can be said about the boots. There is no mode switch or the like here. And you should not expect a perfect fit to the leg, since there is no thermoforming. In short, it is not surprising that HEAD FX GT is sold for relatively little money.

Advantages

  • Clips are adjustable;
  • Wide shoe;
  • Very low cost;
  • There are versions for people with larger feet;
  • Stiffness ideal for beginners.

disadvantages

  • The clips are plastic;
  • There are no mode and hardness switches.

The best women's ski boots

ROXA Trinity

Rating: 4.9

ROXA TRINITY.jpg

If we talk about women's ski boots, then the leader in this area is products under the ROXA brand. Her model, called Trinity, looks most like elegant boots. One gets the impression that you can even go to the store in them, they are so cute. But in reality, of course, this will cause some discomfort. The fact is that the product corresponds to a hardness index of 85. And if during skiing this does not cause any problems, then during a regular walk you can hardly spend a long time in such shoes.

The manufacturer assures that his creation is universal. In practice, it turns out that it will take a beginner several hours to get used to these boots. This must be due to the aforementioned rigidity. Also, questions are raised by the last, the width of which is 99 mm (or slightly larger if a larger boot size is chosen). However, this is an adequate figure for a female model.

The manufacturer should be thanked for introducing a thermoformed liner here. More specifically, this is a modification called the U75 R3 LINER LS, found in other ROXA ski boots. In just a few minutes, the inner parts begin to almost envelop the foot, after which you can start skating.

And what is the reason for the rather high price tag of these boots? Firstly, the product has received a three-piece architecture, thanks to which the efforts are transferred to the skis in almost full volume. Secondly, hardness adjustment is available here. You can also change the position of the spoiler, which is also not found in every ski boots. Thirdly, a deployed front clip is used here, which is protected from damage and accidental opening.

Advantages

  • Attractive design;
  • Secure front clip;
  • You can adjust the spoiler and the degree of rigidity;
  • A three-axis structure is used;
  • Applied thermoformed inner part;
  • Optimal stiffness index.

disadvantages

  • To some, this block may seem too narrow;
  • The price cannot be called low.

Rossignol Vita Sensor2 60

Rating: 4.9

ROSSIGNOL VITA SENSOR2 60.jpg

Another very unusual looking ski boots. However, this model cannot be confused with women's boots. It is already clear here that these shoes should be used exclusively in conjunction with skis. At the same time, the manufacturer tried to reduce the rigidity, so riding should be as comfortable as a regular walk in the fresh air.

It should be noted that this model was released in 2013. This means that now it is found on sale less and less. But if you find it on sale for 9-10 thousand rubles, then you can safely make a purchase! These boots are in no way inferior to new products that are sold for significantly more money.

This model has a stiffness index of 60. This means that it will not be suitable for sports competitions, but boots will definitely suit a tourist. Beginners will also like the last, the width of which is brought to 102 mm. It's always warm in these shoes. And this is despite the absence of thermoforming entrails here. Instead, an anatomically shaped foam is used in the toe area. Well, the heel area has reinforced support, in honor of which the product got its name.

Advantages

  • Nice wool seal;
  • Various adjustments are available;
  • The degree of rigidity is ideal for beginners;
  • Wide shoe;
  • Low cost.

disadvantages

  • Longevity is questionable;
  • They are found in online stores less and less;
  • There are no switches;
  • I would like to get a thermoforming inner part.

ATOMIC Hawx Magna 85 W

Rating: 4.8

ATOMIC HAWX MAGNA 85 W.jpg

Modern ski boots are bound to look beautiful. Especially if they were born in 2018 or later. The ATOMIC Hawx Magna 85 W model complies with this rule absolutely completely. These boots look nice both while skiing and at the moment when the skis are off. However, the product received a very high price tag not because of this.

The manufacturer of this model managed to combine moderate stiffness, wide last, and durable materials in it. One can only complain about the partial molding and the absence of any switches. However, let's take a closer look at these ski boots.

It uses a proprietary insulation with its extremely fine fibers. This allows a large amount of air to be contained in the inside of the boot, which is best suited to withstand high humidity and low temperatures.

This model uses the Easy Step-in system. This means that buckling will not cause any problem. And also a unique last is used here, combining a special geometric balance and anatomical features. This makes it possible to recommend ski boots to both the beginner and the professional. However, the latter is unlikely to be satisfied with the stiffness index of 85, with which it will not be possible to transfer all efforts to the skis as accurately as possible.

Despite the presence of modern technologies, the weight of one ATOMIC Hawx Magna 85 W boot is only 1840 g. If we talk about competitors, the scales under them will certainly show at least 2 kg.

The high reliability of the product is evidenced by aluminum clips. Of course, they are all adjustable. But there are no switches here. Well, with such a price tag, their absence can be forgiven.

Advantages

  • Manufactured in Romania;
  • Shoe width – 102 mm or more;
  • Beginner-friendly stiffness;
  • Great design;
  • Reliable clips;
  • There is some adjustment;
  • Branded insulation is used;
  • Minimum weight.

disadvantages

  • No switches for hardness and modes;
  • A thermoforming inner part would be nice.

HEAD Advant Edge 75 X M

Rating: 4.7

HEAD Advant Edge 105.jpg

Another ski boots available in two colors. However, both of them are rather boring. Not all girls have enough choice from white and black colors. But on the other hand, the product turned out to be very affordable, in Russian stores they ask for 10 thousand rubles for it. At the same time, the boots correspond to the advanced level of skiing. This is stated by the manufacturer, hinting at a not very wide shoe.

This model is unlikely to suit a professional skier. The fact is that the boots have a stiffness index of 75. This is not the parameter that would allow you to feel your alpine skis as accurately as possible. However, no one says that this model should be used in sports competitions. These ski boots are designed for those who have already mastered skiing on snow-covered slopes, but do not think about moving to a higher level due to at least a lack of free time. The boots allow you to ride in a relaxed stance, as they provide a 14-degree boot angle. The product also has a canting adjustment on the outside.

If necessary, the hardness can be increased to the 85th index. As for the clips, they are made of aluminum. They have both micro and macro regulation. The manufacturer has introduced an additional lever into the upper clips, effectively doubling their length, which reduces the efforts for fastening. After the end of the process, the lever is hidden by a spring in the slot of the clip.

The HEAD Advant Edge 75 X M is a rare occasion where boots don't have much of a flaw, especially when it comes to choosing a product for an aspiring skier. Even a thermoforming liner is used here! The rear spoiler has not been forgotten either.

Advantages

  • Riding in a relaxed stance;
  • Adjustment of the canting from the outside is possible;
  • Duo Flex force transmission system was introduced;
  • Reliable and comfortable aluminum clips;
  • Thermoforming liner;
  • There is a hardness adjustment (two positions);
  • Low cost.

disadvantages

  • Shoe width does not exceed 102 mm;
  • Not the best insulation;
  • For professionals, the boots will not seem rigid enough;
  • There is no 'walk / ride' switch.

Salomon Qst Access 80 W

Rating: 4.7

SALOMON QST ACCESS 80 W.jpg

Many inexpensive ski boots feel very awkward to use. The leg in them feels some discomfort. But the models included in our selection are free from this drawback. For example, the Salomon Qst Access 80 W features an inner boot with Slide-in technology. It is thanks to him that these shoes are comfortable both while riding and when walking. By the way, there is a mechanism for switching from one mode to another. This is rarely seen in boots, the cost of which does not exceed 12 thousand rubles!

Walking comfort in these shoes is also ensured by the low weight of each shoe, which is about 1800 g. As for the rigidity, it can be called average. To be more precise, these ski boots correspond to a hardness index of 80. You cannot change it, the manufacturer had to save money on this. But on the other hand, quick adjustment of the clip position is available here.

Returning to the inner boot, one cannot fail to note the presence of good insulation in it, partly made of wool. The leg sticks inside without any problems, which is good news. Women will appreciate the heel support and the custom-designed shaft.

Advantages

  • There is a switch from walking to rolling;
  • Attractive design;
  • Quite low cost;
  • An easy donning system has been implemented;
  • A clip with a comb is used;
  • The pad width can be up to 104 mm;
  • The boots are very lightweight.

disadvantages

  • I would like to get a thermoforming inner part;
  • The clips do not look secure.

Salomon Divine 55

Rating: 4.6

SALOMON DIVINE 55.jpg

Another ski boots from a well-known manufacturer of shoes and sports equipment. In Russian stores, they are offered to be purchased for 12-14 thousand rubles. For this money, you get refined shoes, the inner part of which is designed exclusively for the woman's feet. Also, the shoe, the width of which reaches 104 mm, cannot but rejoice.

This model uses a 25 mm wide strap. There is no stiffness switch here, it is rare in this price segment. Therefore, you will have to come to terms with the stiffness index of 55, these boots correspond to it. However, why 'put up with'? It seems that this is quite enough for skiing on amateur ski slopes. It is thanks to the low stiffness that the maximum riding comfort awaits you. But it is better not to meddle on steep slopes, for skiing on them you will need boots that provide greater precision in ski control and transfer of maximum effort into them.

Otherwise, there is hardly anything special to say about the Salomon Divine 55. This is a typical newbie model. With one exception. The clips used here lend themselves to easy adjustment. Polycarbonate was used to create them. Or heat-resistant plastic, to put it simply. Not the most durable solution, but it is often found in ski boots of this price category.

This model is capable of boasting a good insulation. There is even natural wool here, but only in the toe of the boot. Well, most of the insulation is Polar fleece lining.

Advantages

  • The most comfortable skiing on amateur slopes;
  • Very wide last;
  • The linings are removable and replaceable;
  • Manufactured in Romania;
  • There is a switch for walking / rolling modes;
  • The clips are adjustable.

disadvantages

  • The insides are not thermoforming;
  • Not suitable for professional riding at all;
  • Not the most reliable clips;
  • Insulation cannot be called ideal.

HEAD RAPTOR 90 RS

Rating: 4.9

HEAD RAPTOR 90 RS.jpg

Many of the models discussed in this article exist in two versions: male and female. HEAD RAPTOR 90 RS is no exception to the rule. Adjusted for the fact that these are children's boots. Therefore, they are intended for boys and girls (in the second case, you need to look for a variation with the letter 'W' in its name).

These ski boots are quite small in size. But that doesn't mean they got fewer clips. There are four of them here, which testifies to the high reliability of the product – it is unlikely that the boots will fall off even in the event of a fall. The clips are made of aluminum, so they will definitely not break even after several active seasons. And they also have a very high price tag, at the level of adult models.

The cost of the boots is explained by the presence of a thermoforming part inside them. This means that the inner boot will fit perfectly to the child's foot, he will definitely not feel any discomfort. It is also a rare children's model with adjustable stiffness – index 80 here easily changes to index 90. Well, double canting is also not found in all ski boots.

It should be admitted that this model will most of all appeal not to those children who first found themselves on the ski slope, but to those who practice this sport on an ongoing basis. They will definitely appreciate the 16-degree tilt of the boot, the stiffness already mentioned, and the 4-degree heel lift.

Advantages

  • Micro-adjustable aluminum clips;
  • The thermoforming anatomical insole is used;
  • Change of hardness is available;
  • Double canting has been implemented;
  • High reliability.

disadvantages

  • This is hardly the best choice for a beginner;
  • A narrow block will not suit everyone;
  • High price.

Salomon X Max LC 80

Rating: 4.8

SALOMON X MAX LC 80.jpg

These kids' ski boots are sold for a slightly lower price. However, they also have high reliability and good thermal insulation. The product will definitely last one or two seasons, after which the child's leg will simply grow out of it. The shoes will remain in good condition and can either be sold or left for the next child.

Shoes made in Romania are not only small in size but also light in weight. They also include a 98mm last. It may seem that this is an insufficient parameter. However, it is enough for a child. Inside this model is the Termicfit boot. It adapts to the skier's foot, so any discomfort disappears. For the manufacture of such an internal part, we used ethylene vinyl acetate, which has already been mentioned more than once in our review.

The outer boot is two-piece here. Four aluminum clips can be found on it. They are easily adjustable, so the boots fit as tightly as possible. There is also a 35mm strap.

The product corresponds to a hardness index of 80. This means that the boots are designed for advanced skiing, and not for simple fun on the ski slope. And this despite their relatively low cost!

Advantages

  • Manufactured in Romania;
  • The price tag cannot be called overpriced;
  • Reliable aluminum clips;
  • Good adjustment;
  • Warm inner boot.

disadvantages

  • There are no switches;
  • Newbies may find it overly tough;
  • The last could be a little wider.

ATOMIC Redster Club Sport 70 LC

Rating: 4.7

ATOMIC REDSTER CLUB SPORT 70 LC.jpg

Another unisex in our selection. This means that the boots should suit both girls and boys. They exist in one color variant – their outer part is red and black. As for the sizes, here the buyer will find more variety. There are even versions available for boys and older men! This model is not suitable only for tall and heavy people. The fact is that the product has a hardness index of 70. If the skier is heavy, then the boots can quickly break.

These shoes can even be used in competitions. This is evidenced by the block, the width of which is approximately 96 mm. There are no special questions about the reliability of the product. Clips are a problem with many ski boots. In this case, the manufacturer abandoned plastic in favor of aluminum, so the buckles are unlikely to ever suffer.

The inner part of the product fits perfectly to the leg, for which several thermoformed zones are to be thanked. Therefore, the load is evenly distributed over the entire leg, which is especially important during the sports training and competition already mentioned. Separately, it should be noted the area of the toes, which here is made in a single piece – it completely repeats the shape of the outer boot.

Unfortunately, in some ways the shoes are still inferior to competitors. For example, their block will seem too narrow to someone. Also, there are no switches here. This means that the boots cannot be switched to a comfortable walking mode, just as there is no possibility to change the degree of rigidity.

Advantages

  • Thermoformed inner boot;
  • Optimal rigidity for beginners;
  • Reduced shaft height;
  • High quality clips;
  • Shaft angle can be changed from 16 to 18 degrees;
  • Low cost.

disadvantages

  • The shoe may seem too narrow;
  • There are no mode and hardness switches.

ATOMIC Hawx JR 4

Rating: 4.6

ATOMIC HAWX JR 4.jpg

A very large number of ski boots have been created for children, in which you begin to feel comfortable only after you have already got used to skiing on the snow slopes. In particular, the ATOMIC Hawx JR 4 are just such boots. After using them, you can safely switch to adult models, even those that are more rigid.

Unlike many other children's boots, these boots are equipped with special inserts that compensate for half the foot size. Gradually, you will rid the shoes of more and more tabs until the child's leg is fully grown. The perfect solution!

In terms of construction, nothing unusual awaits you here. As with most ski boots, the ATOMIC Hawx JR 4 features four clips. They provide maximum fixation, it is almost impossible to fly out of such shoes. And they are also easily regulated, which is also important. Also, the product has progressive rigidity and a special shaft construction, which allows you to change the degree of support.

Despite the presence of special tabs, the insides of the boot fit perfectly to the child's foot. The manufacturer managed to achieve this through the use of thermoforming materials. The same thermoforming tongue is used to support the bootleg. The back wall of the boot can be tilted, which provides comfort in completely different positions.

As for the material of manufacture, it is polyurethane. Again, nothing out of the ordinary. The average weight of one shoe is 1270 g.

Advantages

  • Four secure clips;
  • Micro and macro adjustment available;
  • The size of the inner boot can be changed;
  • Optimal rigidity for beginners;
  • Adaptive back wall deflection;
  • The boots are lightweight;
  • Low cost.

disadvantages

  • No switching modes and rigidity;
  • There is only one color to choose from.

Fischer Ranger 60 Jr Thermoshare

Rating: 4.6

FISCHER RANGER 60 JR THERMOSHARE.jpg

Fischer products usually come in fun colors. This fact is easy to notice if you regularly watch biathlon or ski jumping. The same is true for the Ranger 60 Jr Thermoshare ski boots. This model is intended for use by children and has a bright yellow exterior. The only pity is that the buyer is not given much choice – this is the only available coloring.

This is one of the cheapest ski boots for kids. But this did not affect their capabilities in any way! It is comfortable to ride in such shoes, no matter which slope is chosen for this! It's amazing that such inexpensive boots have got a thermoformed inner part. Adjustable clips are also used here, but this is already self-evident. As for the last, its width varies depending on the size of the product, but in most cases you can count on around 99mm. A little, but for a small child's foot, this is quite enough.

This model has a stiffness index of 60. Therefore, it is ideal even for the child who first appeared on the track. In such boots, he will feel as comfortable as possible. But you can not count on participating in competitions, in them the shoes will not seem tough enough, because of which not all efforts will be transferred to the skis.

Advantages

  • Aluminum clips are supplemented with micro-adjustment;
  • Very low cost;
  • The thermoformed inner part is used;
  • Decent width for children's shoes;
  • Great design;
  • The best stiffness for a beginner.

disadvantages

  • There are no switches;
  • Not suitable for competition at all.

Salomon T3 RT

Rating: 4.5

SALOMON T3 RT.jpg

Another relatively inexpensive ski boots. Their purchase usually does not make you worry about the fact that the child's leg is growing rapidly. If you are lucky, the son or daughter will not harm the shoes, as a result of which they can be sold in the future by ad, having beaten off at least part of the cost. By the way, there are two color options for this product. Boys will be fine with the black and green version, while girls should like boots with a pink outer.

The manufacturer tried to ensure that his creation could be mistaken for shoes made from natural materials. Indeed, such an impression cannot but arise. But in reality it is a specially formed plastic. There are three clips on it, designed to fix the product. And it was on them that the manufacturer saved the most. It's not even about their number. The clips are made of plastic. Do I need to say that regular riding can affect the condition of these fasteners? However, it is unlikely that something will have time to happen to them if skiing is supposed only during a short vacation.

Each shoe in this set is very lightweight. The scales underneath will show almost exactly 1 kg. This suggests that very thin plastic is used here. Well, this should provide a comfortable fit, it's a sin to complain. You can also expect good maneuvering, because the hinge is located in the ankle area.

The inner boot of the Salomon T3 RT is made of foam. The fur trim is responsible for keeping warm. In a word, this is a standard option for such a low cost.

The product meets the hardness index of 30. This indicates that the boots are intended for young children. If the teenager is already tall and heavy enough, then he can cause irreparable damage to the structure.

Advantages

  • There are two color options;
  • Very low cost;
  • Attractive design;
  • The most comfortable riding;
  • There is a hinge in the ankle area;
  • The boots are very lightweight.

disadvantages

  • The stiffness index is very small;
  • Not very reliable clips;
  • The number of clips will not suit everyone.

HEAD Raptor 40

Rating: 4.4

HEAD RAPTOR 40.jpg

Another inexpensive ski boots designed for children. For about 8 thousand rubles, and often less money, the buyer will receive a very small shoe that is attached to the leg with three clips. Their reliability can be called average. Extreme skiing can damage such fasteners, but the boots are not sharpened for it. This is evidenced by at least the 40th hardness index. These boots should be used for easy downhill skiing at low speed in places where there are many holidaymakers. This is definitely not a sports accessory.

Unlike older models, these boots only have three clips. And this has nothing to do with the manufacturer's desire to save money! The fact is that this shoe turned out to be so miniature that the fourth fastener on it simply fit. But it should be noted that the clips are made of plastic, and this is really saving on trifles. I am glad that they have at least micro-adjustment, which allows you to put the boot on your foot as comfortably as possible.

The product corresponds to a hardness index of 40. As you already understood, this means that it is unlikely that a child will be able to break any records in these boots. But on the other hand, he can safely walk in them when the skis are removed. This does not even require switching to the appropriate mode. That must be why the manufacturer decided against such a switch. But he introduced a thermoformed insole into his creation. This means that it will fit the foot as tightly as possible. Boots in this regard do not have any problems at all. They are warm and dry, no matter what conditions the skiing is in. The block here is narrow. But this is not a problem, because this shoe is designed for a very tiny foot.

Advantages

  • Very comfortable riding;
  • Easy donning;
  • The thermoforming insole is used;
  • Good warmth and dryness retention;
  • Very low cost.

disadvantages

  • The clips are plastic;
  • Someone will complain about the number of clips;
  • There are no switches.

The best ski boots for professionals

HEAD Raptor B3 RD

Rating: 4.9

HEAD RAPTOR B3 RD.jpg

Above, we looked at the HEAD ski boots designed for kids. Well, it's time to talk about models for adults who are engaged in mountain skiing professionally or aspiring to it. The HEAD Raptor B3 RD are the oversized boots we just reviewed. It uses exactly the same design. But, of course, the materials are completely different, and the number of clips has increased markedly, and almost eternal aluminum was used for their manufacture. The manufacturer also added a 40mm belt with a Double Power Booster system.

Such a shoe will sit on the leg as if it were part of it. This is facilitated not only by the belt and four clips, but also by the block, the width of which is deliberately reduced to 91-95 mm. The product is also capable of boasting low profile levers, double canting and a full-fledged slalom package, which includes spoilers and protection.

If we talk about the insides, then here is used a warm thermoforming shoe with an adjustable tongue. Comfortable lacing, anatomical insole – what else do you need?

Of course, any ski boots for professional use must have a high stiffness index. HEAD Raptor B3 RD is no exception to the rule. It's still a long way from a record, but the numbers are impressive. The maximum here you can achieve an index of 140. Well, through simple actions, the rigidity is reduced first to an index of 130, and then to 120.

If you're heading to the Olympic Games, we recommend you consider purchasing the HEAD Raptor B2 RD. This model differs from the boots considered now only by the stiffness index increased to 160 (the decrease occurs to the 150th and 140th indices).

Advantages

  • The most accurate ski control;
  • Large volume (1500 cc);
  • Low profile levers are used;
  • There is an RD slalom package;
  • Quality 40mm belt;
  • Excellent micro-adjustable clips;
  • Hardness adjustment in three positions;
  • Good thermoforming liner.

disadvantages

  • High price;
  • Absolutely not suitable for comfortable skiing on vacation.

ATOMIC Hawx Ultra 130 S

Rating: 4.9

ATOMIC HAWX ULTRA 130 S.jpg

Another adult ski boots with very high rigidity. And durability, because they are able to withstand even the most severe loads arising during sports competitions. More specifically, the product corresponds to a hardness index of 130. At certain times, it can be increased by another 10 points. Or reduce in the same way. This is important, because when training, maximum rigidity from ski boots is usually not required.

To achieve good results, you need to be as light as possible. And if you can lose weight quite simply, you just need to go on a diet, then this cannot be said about boots. All of them usually weigh under a couple of kilograms. The only exceptions to the rule are models such as the ATOMIC Hawx Ultra 130 S. Their manufacturer has managed to reduce weight by 25%. At the same time, the problem areas of the product remained reinforced.

This model is capable of boasting many innovations that cannot be found in amateur boots. For example, there is a shaft alignment mechanism here. You can also note the tilt adjustment. Additional overlays may also come in handy. In a word, absolutely any parameters can be adjusted here. There is only no possibility of switching to walking mode. But how often do you have to walk during the competition? And a switch like this would instantly make ski boots less stiff, so we don't even list its lack.

Of course, the ATOMIC Hawx Ultra 130 S also includes other technologies not yet mentioned in this description. For example, the product uses a Memory Fit 3D Platinum inner boot. It consists of a pre-shaped tongue and a plurality of thermoformed zones. As for the outer part of the boot, True Flex material was used for its production. It remains tough at any temperature.

Advantages

  • The weight of one shoe is about 1.7 kg;
  • The stiffness is variable;
  • A thermoformed inner boot is used;
  • There is a 5 cm wide strap (with Velcro);
  • Reliable aluminum clips;
  • Reinforcement has been implemented in strategically important areas;
  • The narrow last is perfect for competition.

disadvantages

  • Not the best option for free skiing on vacation;
  • High price.

Salomon Qst Pro 120 Tr

Rating: 4.8

SALOMON QST PRO 120 TR.jpg

Usually professional ski boots are equipped with four clips. But there are also exceptions to the rule. For example, the Salomon Qst Pro 120 Tr contains only three buckles. This slightly speeds up the preparation process for descending a snowy slope. High quality and very lightweight aluminum was used for the production of clips. Micro-adjustment allows you to place the boot on your foot as comfortable as possible. There is also a 45 mm strap in this model.

The shoe width here varies from 100 to 106 mm, depending on the size chosen. And whichever option you take, it will correspond to the stiffness index of 120. And in this case, you will not be able to change it. But it does have a walk / ride switch! Pressing the corresponding button removes the rigid fixation, as a result of which the boot gets the proper freedom of movement. This is rare in professional ski boots. But does this put the durability of the product into question? It seems that the manufacturer has thought over the design of the boots, so you can not expect them to suddenly fall apart under load.

This model perfectly covers the foot, the heel is well fixed here – all this allows you to transfer forces to the skis in the proper amount. Of course, the technology of thermoforming is used here, and this indicates the absence of unnecessary voids inside the boot. The manufacturer also increased the hinge, thereby reducing the play between the bootleg and the bottom of the boot. Again, this should significantly improve the efficiency of the transfer of effort.

The weight of one such boot is only 1.6 kg. This parameter was achieved by reducing the thickness of the side walls. At the same time, you do not have to worry about strategically important zones: they remained reinforced. The reduction in weight is felt well in tight corners, which can now be handled at high speeds. It is not for nothing that even people involved in slalom make their choice in favor of the Salomon Qst Pro 120 Tr.

Advantages

  • Manufactured in Romania;
  • A thermoforming liner is used;
  • A large number of adjustments are available;
  • There is a switch from riding to walking;
  • Rigidity ideal for competition;
  • Grippy rubber outsole;
  • The block cannot be called very narrow;
  • The boots are very lightweight.

disadvantages

  • The degree of hardness cannot be changed;
  • Very high cost.

Tecnica Cochise 120 DYN

Rating: 4.7

TECNICA COCHISE 120 DYN.jpg

These ski boots are designed for freeriding. They are of high quality workmanship and a large number of adjustments. But the product also has one problem. This model is rarely sold in Russian online stores, not to mention offline retail. If you do find these shoes on the counter, buy without hesitation. Especially if you expect to do professional alpine skiing in the future.

These boots have a stiffness index of 120. This means that they will withstand even a very tall or very heavy person. And they certainly do not care about the passage of sharp turns at maximum speed. For beginners, this model is contraindicated. They will find it uncomfortable, including because of the block, which is approximately 99 mm wide.

These boots are fully thermoformed. This also applies to their shell and liner. Therefore, the boots should fit perfectly on any foot. They are also able to boast a wide cuff range of up to 42 degrees. For its manufacture, the material Triax 3.0 was used, which is a light but hard plastic.

Like many professional ski boots, these are very lightweight. This is due to the use of a two-component polyester shell here. It is not only 2.5 times stiffer than the usual material for such boots, but also 30% thinner. Even in problem areas, the thickness does not exceed 2 mm!

These boots have a special surface with increased water resistance. This keeps your feet dry, no matter how long you skate. And this is very important for professionals who sometimes spend the whole day on the slope. They should also appreciate the four aluminum clips. The Lift Lock mechanism allows you to quickly fasten and unfasten them. There is also a 4.5 cm wide strap using Velcro.

In short, these are very good ski boots! Especially for their value, which often does not exceed 20 thousand rubles.

Advantages

  • High quality polyester and polyester outer boot;
  • Thermoforming liner;
  • Significantly reduced boot weight;
  • Water protection system implemented;
  • Reliable aluminum clips;
  • There is a strap 4.5 cm wide with Velcro;
  • Ideal rigidity for training.

disadvantages

  • There are no switches;
  • The cost will not suit everyone.

HEAD Advant Edge 125 S

Rating: 4.7

HEAD ADVANT EDGE 125 S.png

One of the most common ski boots now. The manufacturer has released a huge variety of them, differing in size from each other. Therefore, you can find any shoes on sale, no matter what foot size you have. Moreover, the product must withstand even a very heavy person. And he certainly won't be hurt by aggressive cornering. All this is evidenced by the stiffness index 125. I am glad that it can be changed. In total, two positions are available to the skier – 115 and the already mentioned 125.

Usually sports shoes of this kind have a narrow last. Here it is average, and therefore comfortable. Also, the product is able to boast of a long cuff and tongue, which allows you to better feel and bend the boot. If you compare these boots with amateur ones, then they use redesigned geometry. According to the manufacturer, this should make power transfer 30-40% more efficient. And the feedback must be faster, which is also very important.

The structure of these boots includes a soft plastic elongated welt, which makes it easier to put on and take off. And also low profile levers are introduced here. The rear spoiler has not been forgotten either. A 40mm strap sits above the top clip.

Participation in competitions does not in any way imply a complete rejection of comfort. As a result, the HEAD Advant Edge 125 S has a thermoformed liner. It fits perfectly to the leg in a couple of minutes after putting it on. And the boots keep the feet dry for a long time, keeping them warm. It turns out that you can ride in such shoes at least all day long. This is important, because only long training sessions will allow you to achieve success!

Advantages

  • Comfortable and comfortable last;
  • Low weight;
  • There are low profile levers;
  • There is a system to facilitate removal and donning;
  • Added canting and spoiler;
  • Durable aluminum clips with many adjustments;
  • The hardness can be changed from 115 to 125;
  • The liner is thermoformed.

disadvantages

  • High price;
  • Not the best choice for a beginner.

Fischer RC Pro 100 PBV

Rating: 4.7

FISCHER RC PRO 100 PBV.jpg

Fischer usually dyes its sports equipment in bright colors, but this rule did not apply to these boots. This is a professional product that must not distract the viewer's attention from the athlete. However, this does not mean that the boots turned out to be ugly. No, they will definitely appeal to anyone who is thinking about buying them.

This model is intended for use by advanced skiers. This is evidenced by at least a stiffness index of 100. And amateur boots will not be equipped with a block whose width is approximately the same 100 mm. As for the clips, they will delight you with their reliability, because aluminum was used for their production. The rest of the outer boot was made of Vakuplast and PU.

This boot is capable of boasting a perfect fit, even without a preliminary fit. But even if one is required, it is still possible – the Fischer Vacuum Fit technology is responsible for it.

Otherwise, these are typical ski boots. It is not for nothing that they are sold for 20 thousand rubles, while most often professional models have a much higher price tag. It lacks some of the features that make the boots stand out from the competition. However, not everyone needs them.

Advantages

  • Made in the Czech Republic;
  • Reliable aluminum clips;
  • There is a possibility of additional adjustment according to the stupa;
  • Available in 35mm strap and canting.

disadvantages

  • Wouldn't hurt a thermoforming inside;
  • There are no switches;
  • For professionals, rigidity may not seem enough;
  • The price tag is still far from the lowest.

Conclusion

This is a list of the best ski boots available today. We tried to briefly talk about both male and female, and even children's models. Now you just have to decide how much you are willing to spend. As you may have noticed, ski shoes can be very expensive.
