Honor View 20 8 / 256GB
Rating: 4.9
This is a real monster. This device has characteristics that some of our readers never dreamed of! It is also incredibly beautiful – its back panel not only has a pattern, but also plays beautifully in the light.
If we are talking about the back wall, then on it you can find a fingerprint scanner that works almost instantly. Uncomfortable reaching for this sensor? Then use face lock – the system always recognizes it correctly. Also on the back are two lenses for the built-in 3D camera. The manufacturer promises that artificial intelligence will try to recognize the objects being shot, which makes it easier to sort photos and find the desired images in the future. AI is also working on sharpening photos.
This camera uses two matrices. The resolution of the main sensor reaches 48 megapixels. And this is a real 48 million pixels – no interpolation is used here, as in significantly cheaper smartphones. The aperture is opened to f / 1.8, which allows you to successfully shoot in low light conditions around – the aforementioned artificial intelligence will also help in this case. Also, this camera can shoot 4K video.
In a word, the smartphone delights with the quality of the photos and videos received. An excellent result is obtained when using a front camera. It includes a 25-megapixel sensor. Competitors can only say to this: 'Mom dear!'.
Well, what else can Honor View 20 boast about? And is it possible to make a claim to any components? Oddly enough, the device really turned out to be not perfect. There is a 6.4-inch display on its front panel. And if the resolution of 2310×1080 should suit 99% of buyers, then the IPS manufacturing technology is something from the category of cheaper smartphones. Well, why not embed AMOLED – a panel here, even if you had to order it from Samsung? It is possible that the secret of this decision lies in the fact that the South Koreans do not yet make screens, inside which there would be a hole for the front camera lens. And the company Huawei was able to make such a display, albeit only using a technology that implies the presence of a separate backlit layer.
Let's briefly go through the rest of the specifications, which are absolutely impossible to find fault with. The operating system Android 9.0 is installed here – a newer version has not been released yet. Despite current trends, the Chinese have not eliminated the 3.5mm audio jack from their device. The built-in NFC chip allows contactless payment for purchases. To access the Internet, LTE-A and Wi-Fi modules are used. The latter is equipped with three (!) Antennas. The buyer is also waiting for the eight-core Kirin 980 processor – this is the top chipset. As for the memory, there are versions of the smartphone with different capacities. We recommend not to save up by purchasing the 256GB storage option. Don't forget, there is no memory card slot here, and 4K video weighs in a lot.
Advantages
- Capacious battery with support for super fast charging;
- There is a fingerprint scanner;
- Very large amount of memory;
- A top processor is used;
- All wireless modules are very fast;
- There is NFC support;
- A wonderful dual camera that can shoot 4K video;
- Great front camera
- The latest version of the operating system;
- Attractive design.
disadvantages
- The display was created using IPS technology;
- Very high cost;
- The front-facing camera hole may not appeal to everyone;
- No memory card slot.
Honor 10 4 / 128GB
Rating: 4.8
Of course, it is not at all necessary to shell out such a large sum in order to get a smartphone with excellent characteristics. If you agree to get a more familiar monobrow instead of a hole for the front camera, then you should be satisfied with Honor 10. For this device they ask 26-29 thousand rubles. At the same time, this model can be formally called a flagship one.
The creators of this device have tried to achieve a compact size. As a result, the smartphone received a display with a diagonal of 5.84 inches. There are practically no side frames, which allows you to reach with your thumb to any angle. The screen resolution is 2280×1080 pixels. The 18: 9 aspect ratio makes it easy to work with two applications at the same time. You can only regret the manufacturing technology – as you know, the IPS-display has a separate backlit layer, which negatively affects power consumption, and also does not allow you to achieve perfect black.
The eighth version Android is installed here as the operating system. And there is no doubt that an update will come to the smartphone in the future. The device can work with two SIM-cards. Alas, the second slot is not combined – the memory card is not supported by the device. Because of this, we recommend purchasing the version equipped with 128GB onboard storage.
The processor used here testifies to the flagship status of the product. This is the top-end Kirin 970. Its power will be enough for any game, not to mention applications. To access the global web, no less modern wireless modules are used – LTE-A of the 13th category and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. There is also an NFC chip that allows you to replace a bank card with a smartphone. Well, the infrared transmitter can be considered a kind of bonus – it is needed to control TV and other consumer electronics.
Of course, a 153-gram device that sells for that kind of money could not do without good cameras. In particular, a double rear module is used here. Under its lenses are matrices with a resolution of 24 and 16 megapixels. Their capabilities are enough to create highly detailed images. Even in the dark, because the aperture is open to f / 1.8. Such a camera perfectly blurs the background. It also allows you to record videos in 4K resolution. But only at 30fps! If you want to double this parameter, you will have to select the resolution Full HD. Well, if you limit yourself to HD-resolution, then the frequency of 960 frames / s becomes available.
“Frontalka” also shows itself from the best side. The 24-megapixel sensor creates images so detailed that you have to use special filters to hide facial imperfections (if you care).
It remains to add that a 3400 mAh battery is installed here. Of course, fast charging support is implemented here, and the bundled AC adapter connects to the USB Type-C connector.
Advantages
- The latest version of the OS is used;
- The smartphone is compact and lightweight;
- Excellent dual camera capable of 4K video;
- Decent front camera
- There is an NFC chip;
- Wireless modules delight with high data transfer rates;
- Built-in powerful eight-core processor;
- Decent amount of memory;
- Fingerprint scanner is not forgotten;
- Capacious battery with fast charging support.
disadvantages
- The display is based on IPS technology;
- No slot for microSD card;
- The cost will not suit everyone.
Honor 8X Max 4 / 128GB
Rating: 4.8
As the name implies, this device is a full-fledged phablet. This means that he has a huge display at his disposal. In this case, it is a 7.12-inch IPS panel. Even some tablets have a smaller screen! However, do not be alarmed. Using a smartphone is still convenient. Firstly, the display is elongated in height, not in width, so the device is very comfortable in the hand. Secondly, the Chinese manufacturer tried to almost completely get rid of the bezels, which also made it possible to leave the dimensions sane.
At the top of the screen, you can see a waterdrop notch that houses the front camera lens. There is nothing under the display except the manufacturer's logo, so the fingerprint scanner had to be moved to the rear panel. What is happening on the screen is processed by the operating system Android 8.1, which is good news. The weight of the device is disappointing – it reaches an impressive 210 g.
The Chinese have endowed their creation with an eight-core Snapdragon 636 processor. It can handle the launch of most existing games with maximum graphics settings. What else can you ask for from a chipset? The smartphone also has 128 GB of onboard storage. At the same time, the manufacturer did not get rid of the microSD card slot. It is amazing!
To interact with the outside world, LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11ac modules are used. Unfortunately, the infrared sensor has been eliminated from here, as the device and the NFC chip have not received. But the product has stereo speakers, which are not always found in this price category.
It remains to tell about the camera. A double module is used in its capacity. Inside, matrices with a resolution of 16 and 2 megapixels are used. This design contributes to competent recognition of the background, which, at the behest of the user, is effectively blurred. As for the aperture, it can be called average, since the aperture is open to f / 2.0. With the help of such a camera, you can shoot video in resolution Full HD. Well, you can't tell much about the front-facing camera – this is a regular 8-megapixel module that does a good job with its main tasks.
Looking at the size of the device, you can expect a very capacious battery inside it. Indeed, the battery capacity reaches 5000 mAh. Of course, fast charging technology is supported, without which the process would take three to four hours.
Advantages
- There is a fingerprint sensor;
- The battery has a high capacity;
- Large amount of memory;
- A sufficiently powerful processor is used;
- Built-in stereo speakers;
- Wi-Fi 802.11ac and LTE networks are supported;
- Good rear camera
- The latest version is installed Android.
disadvantages
- Micro-USB connector is used;
- There is no NFC;
- The display was created using IPS technology;
- Very heavy weight;
- Not everyone will like the sizes.
Honor Play 4 / 64GB
Rating: 4.7
An attentive reader of our rating might have noticed that a large number of monobrow smartphones are produced under the brand Honor. Indeed, the company Huawei has learned to make cutouts in the screens of its devices. For example, Honor Play has such a cut. Inside it there was a place not only for the front camera, but also for several additional sensors, as well as for the spoken speaker. We managed to get rid of the bezels almost completely – the screen occupies 83% of the front panel area. There is only a small strip under the screen, where the sub-brand logo is engraved.
The display installed here has a diagonal of 6.3 inches. Therefore, the smartphone is not very big. As you might guess, IPS technology was used to create the screen. The 19: 9 aspect ratio makes it easy to work with two applications at the same time.
If you turn the smartphone over, you can see two lenses. Under the most important of them is a 16-megapixel matrix, the light on which falls through the f / 2.2 aperture. The second module is auxiliary – its 2-megapixel sensor is only enough to detect the background, which will then be blurred. It's amazing that such a camera is trained to shoot 4K video, albeit only at 30fps. Apparently, we need to thank for this opportunity the processor, which is the top eight-core Kirin 970.
The smartphone will definitely suit selfie lovers. The resolution of the front camera used here is 16 megapixels. It is also important that the manufacturer is generous with the f / 2.0 aperture. It is proposed to store the shooting results in the built-in storage, the volume of which reaches 64 GB. If this does not seem enough, then you can stock up on a memory card – the manufacturer has not forgotten the corresponding slot.
The functionality of the device is provided by Android 8.1. It is unlikely that this operating system will become obsolete in the coming years. Interaction with the Internet is carried out both via LTE networks and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Also, with this model, you can pay for purchases in the store using the built-in NFC chip. You can also note the support for the AptX HD codec, thanks to which high-quality sound is transmitted to a wireless headset.
This smartphone went on sale in four colors. The body Honor Play is made of metal. The manufacturer made his choice in favor of not very heavy components, so the weight of the device was 176 g. But the Chinese had to abandon the extremely capacious battery. However, 3750 mAh is a decent figure. Importantly, recharging is carried out via the USB Type-C connector, the process does not last long.
Perhaps, it is Honor Play that is the most optimal purchase. For 20 thousand rubles you get a modern device with balanced characteristics. And the top processor will allow you to run absolutely any games without reducing the graphics settings. Well, isn't it a miracle?
Advantages
- Several body colors to choose from;
- A fresh version of the OS is installed;
- The rear camera can shoot 4K video;
- Excellent front-end;
- Fast wireless modules are built in;
- There is an NFC chip;
- A powerful eight-core processor is used;
- Decent amount of memory;
- There is a fingerprint scanner;
- Extremely high battery capacity.
disadvantages
- The quality of the photos is still not perfect.
Honor 10 Lite 3 / 32GB
Rating: 4.7
Another representative of our rating, the display of which has a curly cut. In this case, this is the so-called teardrop notch – the manufacturer needed to place only the 'front camera' lens in it. Conversational speaker fits in a very thin frame. It should be admitted that now this is one of the most affordable smartphones with such a cutout in the upper part of the display – for this device in Russian retail they ask 15-17 thousand rubles.
The Honor 10 Lite has several distinguishing features. First, the product operates with Android 9.0. It is now the most recent version of the 'green robot'. Secondly, the device turned out to be very light – its weight does not exceed 162 g. Thirdly, its front-facing camera received a gorgeous 24-megapixel sensor. Its capabilities will definitely be enough for any person who loves to shoot 'selfies'.
Well, what is the rear camera here? In this regard, the device is more ambiguous. If you look at the rear panel, it immediately becomes clear that the camera is dual. However, under its optical modules are hidden matrices, the resolution of which is only 13 and 2 megapixels. There is no reason to hope for high detail. And the background is not always recognized correctly. But if it is recognized, then portraits with the effect of its blurring are very beautiful. As for video filming, the maximum resolution is Full HD.
Coming back to the display, here its diagonal is 6.21 inches. We can say that the size of this device is comparable to the old models, which had a 5.5-inch screen on the front panel. The panel installed here was created using IPS technology – this is typical for devices under the brand Honor. The resolution is 2340×1080 pixels – this is enough for the vast majority of buyers.
The operating system and applications are powered by an eight-core Kirin 710 processor. This is not a top-end chipset, but many games come with it with maximum graphics settings. You can find fault with the amount of memory. Not operational, which is 3 GB, but constant. However, 32 GB is an acceptable option for those who will only contain applications and games in this storage. But if you are not going to get a microSD memory card, then this smartphone is not for you.
This model has an iridescent back panel. This evokes positive emotions. Their micro-USB connector, used to connect the charger, is spoiled – again, the plug will be inserted from the second or even third time. By the way, a 3400 mAh battery is used here, while support for fast charging technology Huawei Power Up is implemented. By the way, the manufacturer has not forgotten about the 3.5 mm audio jack, which will be useful for those people who have not yet purchased a good wireless headset. Well, if we talk about wireless modules, then their list includes LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and even NFC. It's nice that the Chinese remember about contactless payment with this chip, which is almost uncommon in their country.
Advantages
- The most recent version of the operating system;
- Low weight;
- Nice design with iridescent color;
- Good front camera
- Built-in high-speed wireless modules;
- There is an NFC chip;
- A powerful eight-core processor is used;
- Fingerprint scanner is not forgotten;
- Affordable cost.
disadvantages
- The rear camera isn't perfect;
- The memory size could be larger;
- A micro-USB connector is being used.
Honor 8C 3 / 32GB
Rating: 4.7
This smartphone exists at the junction of the budget and mid-budget segments. At the start of sales, they began to ask for about 13 thousand rubles for the device. Of course, for this money, you will not get the ideal. The product has several disadvantages. For example, the 6.26-inch display at his disposal has a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. Not the highest setting, which, however, does not lead to clearly noticeable pixelation. Also, someone will be displeased with the lack of an NFC chip. And, of course, the manufacturer was unable to build a very good camera here.
Despite the relatively low cost of the device, the camera built into it turned out to be double. But the resolution of the matrices installed in them is far from ideal – it is 13 and 2 Mp. This is barely enough for the system to correctly recognize the background and blur it. I am glad that at least the aperture here is open to f / 1.8. It is hoped that the sensor of the main module will be supplied with enough light.
If we talk about the front camera, then it will definitely not cause delight. This is a regular 8 megapixel module. Its capabilities are more than enough for organizing high-quality video communication. Well, the selfie turns out to be good, but nothing more. By the way, the front camera is housed in the so-called monobrow. Do you want a device similar to iPhone X at five times the price? Honor 8C is the best option. But it should be noted that only the side frames have been eliminated here. The area under the display turned out to be wide enough, and the sub-brand logo on it can be confusing.
The operating system used here is Android 8.1. It's nice that the manufacturer tried to supply his creation with light components. As a result, the weight of the device was 167 g. The device also boasts a 3.5 mm audio jack, which has been increasingly abandoned recently. At the same time, no one prohibits the use of a smartphone in a pair with a wireless headset – the sound transmission will be carried out according to Bluetooth 4.2. If you are interested in accessing the Internet, then LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11n are used for this purpose. The speeds are not record-breaking, but a gadget with such a screen and a Snapdragon 632 processor does not need this.
You can protect personal data using a fingerprint scanner. The battery should also please – its capacity reaches an impressive 4000 mAh. The only pity is that its recharging is carried out through the increasingly outdated micro-USB connector. Also, certain claims can be made to the volume of permanent memory, which is 32 GB. This means that you have to limit yourself to installing applications. If you want to store videos and music, then you need to purchase a memory card. Finally, the lack of an NFC chip is disappointing. Because of this, it will not be possible to replace a bank card with a smartphone.
Advantages
- There is a fingerprint scanner;
- Large battery capacity;
- Extremely powerful processor;
- Low cost;
- The latest version of the operating system;
- Low weight;
- Bezel-less design.
disadvantages
- Micro-USB connector is used;
- No NFC chip;
- The amount of memory will not suit everyone;
- Low display resolution.
Honor 9 Lite 32GB
Rating: 4.6
Of course, our rating must contain not only monobrow smartphones. The range of the Chinese company has several good devices that are sold at a very low price. They, of course, cannot have a display in the upper part of which there would be a curly cutout. For example, Honor 9 Lite can be called a decent device in the budget price segment. This device has been in stores for a very long time, but this does not prevent it from functioning under a fairly fresh version of the operating system.
Despite the low cost, the product is capable of boasting a decent screen. Yes, it was not created using technology AMOLED, so you should not count on perfect black colors. But the display has a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. That means there are 427 pixels for every inch of screen area! Well, the aspect ratio of 18: 9 makes it more convenient to use two applications at the same time.
Surprisingly, the smartphone weighs only 149 g. By modern standards, this is an insignificant weight! Of course, it is still far from the parameter of some push-button mobile phone, but such a device will definitely not be felt in a pocket.
It should be noted that the manufacturer did not discard any important components. There is a good dual camera here, which has a matrix with a resolution of 13 and 2 megapixels. Yes, the aperture of the main lens is only open up to f / 2.2, but this is unlikely to affect the weight. Also, the Chinese have introduced a 13-megapixel front camera into their creation, which should suit even selfie lovers, not to mention people who regularly use video calls. The eight-core Kirin 659 processor is busy with video stream processing. It's a pity that its capabilities are only enough for video recording in resolution Full HD. However, it is silly to expect 4K from such a cheap smartphone.
3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of permanent memory are hidden under the body of the device. We can be glad that the Chinese manufacturer did not limit the smartphone to half the volume. But even 32 GB now make you think about whether to save music and videos? We recommend using the built-in storage only for installing applications. Throw the rest onto the memory card. But if you install it, you will not be able to use the second SIM-card – as luck would have it, the combined slot is involved here.
To interact with the global web, LTE-A wireless modules of the fourth category and Wi-Fi 802.11n are used. There is also an NFC chip here – a rare guest in low-cost devices (by the way, it is not available in versions of the smartphone for other countries). Someone may be pleased with the FM radio.
The product turned out to be relatively small. In this regard, one should not expect a capacious battery inside it. But 3000 mAh is also enough for the gadget to last until the evening even with active use. I am glad that the Chinese have not forgotten about the fast charging function. If USB Type-C was also introduced here, it would be absolutely wonderful. But the manufacturer had to save money.
Advantages
- The work is provided by Android 8.0;
- The dual front camera will delight selfie lovers;
- Nice rear camera, which is also dual;
- There is a fingerprint scanner;
- The Russian version (LLD-L31) has an NFC chip;
- A very powerful processor is installed;
- Built-in FM radio;
- Good IPS display
- Small size and weight;
- A fresh version of the operating system is installed;
- Affordable cost.
disadvantages
- Micro-USB connector is used;
- The memory size could be larger;
- Slippery body.
Honor 7C Pro
Rating: 4.5
Another smartphone in our ranking, which exists in several versions. And it's not just about the color of the case. Two variants of the device have gone on sale, differing in the amount of memory. 32 GB of built-in storage will suit those who are going to use the device only as a 'dialer'. If you want to squeeze everything out of your smartphone, we recommend that you pay attention to the option with 64 GB of storage. However, do not forget that it does not have a slot for a microSD card, while you can still increase the 32GB capacity.
This device operates under Android 8.0. This is important, because this version of the 'green robot' is unlikely to become obsolete even after a couple of years. The body of the device is made of metal. Made of very thin metal, as evidenced by the 164-gram weight of the smartphone. There are three color options to choose from – from yellow to traditional black.
Most of the front panel is an IPS display. Its diagonal is only slightly reduced to 6 inches. The resolution is 1440×720 pixels. Perhaps this is what testifies to the budgetary status of the device. Interestingly, the manufacturer opted for an 18: 9 aspect ratio. He believes that buyers will use the smartphone to run multiple applications at the same time. It seems to us that this model is not intended for this purpose. The power of the eight-core Snapdragon 450 processor may not be enough to keep two windows from slowing down. However, it all depends on what kind of windows it will be.
There are also 3 GB of RAM hidden under the body of the gadget. Somewhere in the same place there is an LTE module that allows you to download files at high speed. As for the Wi-Fi module, it is limited by the 802.11n standard. But this is not a disadvantage. A device with such a screen simply does not need a higher connection speed to a router – you won't be watching 4K video content here.
An NFC chip would definitely do the trick for this model. But alas, the Chinese manufacturer saved on this. Also, he did not begin to introduce some heaped up front-end here. Its resolution is 8 megapixels, which does not allow hoping for a perfect selfie. But for the organization of high-quality video communication, this is more than enough. As for the rear camera, it is double. Apparently, the module is identical to the cameras that are built into the pair of smartphones just reviewed. It also uses sensors with a resolution of 13 and 2 megapixels. The aperture is opened to the value, as you might guess, f / 2.2. In short, you shouldn't shoot with such a camera in the dark – you will have a disgusting result. If there is good lighting around, then there will be no problems – you can even try to blur the background.
The rest of the smartphone is unlikely to surprise you. It has a fingerprint scanner. This is important, because in this price segment there are already devices without such a sensor. Well, the autonomous operation of the device is provided by a 3000 mAh battery. It is recharged via a micro-USB connector – a typical choice for a smartphone costing less than 12 thousand rubles.
Advantages
- There is a fingerprint sensor;
- Decent rear camera that shoots video in Full HD;
- Low cost;
- The latest version of the operating system;
- Not very heavy.
disadvantages
- The amount of memory will not suit everyone;
- Not a very powerful processor;
- No NFC chip;
- Low display resolution.
Honor 7A Pro
Rating: 4.4
This smartphone has a familiar look. Some of our readers will state that this is a classic design. Indeed, this design of the front panel is slowly becoming a thing of the past. There are side frames here, albeit very thin. And absolutely nothing is done with the areas above and below the display. But the manufacturer did not have to make a curly cutout in its display in order to find a place for the front camera and auxiliary sensors.
The diagonal of the screen used here has been brought to 5.7 inches. At the same time, the display turned out to be elongated in height, which is why the dimensions of the device are definitely not compact. In this regard, under the body there is a place not only for two slots where SIM cards are inserted, but also for a slot for a memory card. Returning to the screen, its resolution is 1440×720 pixels. A low parameter, but it still did not lead to clearly noticeable pixelation. Well, the aspect ratio of 18: 9 should make the simultaneous work with two applications more convenient. However, the limitation here is 2 GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 430 processor – it is possible that the programs will slow down.
Many devices reviewed in this rating have a dual camera. Nothing of the kind is observed here. The 13-megapixel module seems to have arrived from 2015. However, its capabilities will be enough for many unassuming buyers. There is even the ability to shoot video in resolution Full HD. Well, the front camera is even less pleasing – it uses a standard 8-megapixel module.
Of course the Honor 7A Pro supports LTE networks. There is no NFC chip here, which is a little disappointing. A micro-USB socket is used to charge the smartphone. Of course, you shouldn't have waited for USB Type-C in a budget device. The battery is surprising. In such a large smartphone, it would be possible to accommodate a battery with a capacity higher than 3000 mAh. It turns out that you need to charge the gadget every night, especially with intensive use.
In short, this smartphone deserves the money spent on it. But be prepared for the fact that in a few months you will have problems. The fact is that only 16 GB of permanent memory are built in here. This is an absolute minimum, some applications will soon run out of free space. Especially if you want to install a large number of them.
Advantages
- The operating system is installed Android 8.0;
- There is support for LTE networks;
- A good processor is built in;
- The microSD card slot is separate;
- Fingerprint scanner is not forgotten;
- Low cost.
disadvantages
- Low display resolution;
- Simple cameras are used;
- No NFC chip;
- Low memory;
- Built-in micro-USB connector.
Conclusion
Now you know which smartphones Honor are the best. Buying any of the reviewed models should only cause positive impressions. But do not forget that the cheaper the purchased device, the more drawbacks it has. This rule is true for products under any brand, Honor is no exception.
Attention! This rating is subjective and does not constitute an advertisement and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before buying, you need to consult with a specialist.
