Moreover, the number of really good, noteworthy copies is decreasing against the background of the release of low-performance models, the quality parameters of which leave much to be desired. In this regard, the magazine team conducted its own market analysis and selected eight of the best DVRs with two cameras. The selection criteria were the technical characteristics of the nominees, customer reviews, price indicators and the conclusions of the team's in-house experts.

BlackVue DR900S-2CH

Historically, the first representative of video recorders with the ability to record video in 4K format, who visited Russia and became a hit among the wealthy segment of consumers. The main camera BlackVue DR900S-2CH received an 8 megapixel matrix, which significantly improved the image resolution up to 3840×2160 pixels. At the same time, the frame rate remained at 30, and the viewing angle was 162 degrees. The additional camera, in turn, for reasons of elementary saving of space on the carrier, remained at the level of video recording in Full HD, being equipped with a 2.1-megapixel matrix and the ability to view at 139 degrees.

A nice fact about the BlackVue DR900S-2CH is that the DVR contains all the necessary sensors to respond to various traffic situations (G-sensor, motion capture sensor), and also has a very good package (16 GB microSD, card reader, full mounting kit). And if there are absolutely no complaints about the technical aspects of the device, then the advisability of releasing such a product, in principle, raises great doubts. Not all people have the ability to simply view the received footage on TVs, PCs and laptops, not to mention why they need this improvement in quality. However, sales have started, and it's only a matter of time before 4K recorders become a mass phenomenon.

Although quite expensive, this device provides excellent video recording quality for both cameras, one of which can be oriented towards the salon or the rear window. Shooting takes place in a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, with a viewing angle of 150 degrees (diagonal) and the presence of a night mode, including complex backlighting and a set of special system filters. Power to the DVR unit is supplied exclusively from the on-board network, which, on the one hand, adds an extra wire to the front panel, and on the other hand, eliminates various 'misunderstandings' with low-capacity batteries.

The most important function of IROAD X9, according to the majority, is the ability to connect several external cameras, which can be used as an additional tracking system. Of the other features, 128 GB of memory supported for expansion are most often distinguished, as well as a lower operating temperature threshold of -30 degrees Celsius – this is the best indicator among competitors. Ultimately, we have before us an ideal representative of the premium segment, the price of which is completely leveled by the characteristics and reliability of the branded assembly.

Quite a practical DVR with two cameras, which took third place for the balance of basic characteristics and high quality of work. If all the previous contenders for leadership were based on the use of a 2-megapixel matrix, then the Street Storm CVR-N9220-G uses 3-megapixel CMOS sensors – this is more than enough to ensure excellent quality when recording video at a resolution of 1920×1080. In turn, the equipment of each camera with infrared illumination also has a positive effect on the quality parameters of shooting, improving the frame obtained in the dark. There is an image stabilizer, as well as a set of two sensors, which turn on the cameras on impact or when entering the line of sight of a moving object.

A small advantage of the Street Storm CVR-N9220-G dashcam is that at an actual operating temperature in the range of -10 to +50 degrees Celsius, it can be used in winter: since all its parts are in the cabin in front of the stove, warming up the car will allow it to start device. A little disappointing is the 32 GB of memory available for expanding the main volume (512 MB), as well as a 250 mAh battery, which is hardly enough even for one full cycle of filling a flash card.

The latest DVR from the Artway group of devices is a real boon for consumers from regions with a rather harsh climate, since it not only combines as many as 5 functions, but also allows them to be used at temperatures down to -25 degrees Celsius. The main camera Artway MD-165 is designed to record video at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 at a frame rate of up to 30 per second. With the same fundamental performance indicators, the manufacturers managed to expand the scope of its view to 170 degrees, at once outstripping competitors by several steps. The additional camera, in comparison with the previous models, has also moved to a qualitatively different level: here its shooting frequency reached 25 frames per second, the viewing angle increased to 140 degrees, and the resolution grew to Full HD.

The remaining four functions of the Artway MD-165 video recorder fell on a rather powerful radar detector with an extended frequency tolerance field (for detecting various complexes and standard signal sources), a GPS system, parking sensors and a signal supply system 'SOS' ( a kind of GLONASS). In general, it copes with its main task well, which has been confirmed by hundreds of users, and the rest is implemented at a fairly high level. Unfortunately, the manufacturers miscalculated the memory expansion capabilities by providing the opportunity to install micro-flash drives with only 32 GB, which, with all the quality of the recorded materials, is barely enough for 2 hours of full-length shooting.

From a technical point of view, the AXPER Universal DVR is comparable to the Dunobil Spiegel Duo, but it has a couple of important differences: both positive and negative. In the context of the description for the rating, the review should begin with the strengths of the DVR, but we will do otherwise. The biggest disappointment of this model is the lack of continuous recording. The manufacturers either failed or did not want to implement this function, and therefore both cameras can record only pieces of video in mov format. lasting 2 minutes. There is no full-fledged GPS navigator, and memory expansion via a flash drive is only available for 32 GB.

Now for the positive aspects. The main camera AXPER Universal has acquired a photography mode and a lens viewing angle of 140 degrees, which, together with Full HD resolution, gives a good end result. The second, rear camera works for recording in a resolution of 1280×720 pixels at a frequency of 25 frames per minute, and has a field of view of 120 degrees. It implements the function of projection of parking lines, moreover, it is quite tolerable and accurate. The minimum operating temperature of the device is -20 degrees Celsius, which is on the verge of applicability for the cold regions of Russia. As a result, AXPER Universal is a good mid-range DVR, which represents a good start for upgrading in the next versions.

A reliable representative of the German segment of DVRs from Dunobil, which took sixth place in the ranking due to the presence of a high-speed Wi-Fi module for receiving and broadcasting video files from an additional camera. In fact, it is a close copy of Artway AV-630 Android, offering users a complete system Android version 4.2.2, a 5-inch display in the center of the mirror, as well as 120 degrees of view on the main camera. But there are also plenty of significant differences here.

Firstly, in the Dunobil Spiegel Duo, in addition to the navigation system and the GPS module, a radar detector is integrated, capable of reacting to an approach to Strelka-type complexes and, referring to the current map, notifying users about approaching regulated road sections. The rear camera has acquired LED backlighting and, filming at a resolution of 1280×720, supports the projection of parking marks onto the picture. The main camera of the device, in turn, is equipped with infrared illumination, which allows the CMOS matrix to shoot noise-free even in the dark. The disadvantage of the model is entirely similar to the main disadvantage of Artway AV-630 Android – -10 degrees Celsius of the permissible operating temperature in no way pleases consumers from regions with cold winters.

Artway AV-630 Android

The seventh line of the rating goes to another DVR from the Artway line – this time under the control of the system Android. The AV-630 is a fake rearview mirror with a built-in camera, video information from which is fed to a 5-inch display located right in the center of the dummy. The main deo device here uses the same technologies as in the AV-394 model, providing users with the same Full HD – format (1920 × 1080), the same 120 degrees of view, but 25 frames per second.

In turn, the additional camera of the AV-630 DVR has become much better: despite the 90 degrees of view and a frequency of 15 frames per second, it produces an HD picture (1280×720), allowing you to easily reconnoiter the situation behind the car. As additions, the device provides a G-sensor (responding to a push or hit), as well as a motion sensor that starts recording when an object of a certain size enters the frame. The drawback in the DVR, in fact, is the same: it does not tolerate too low temperatures. It so happened that the manufacturers did not take into account the possibility of using a false mirror in Siberia, which is why the lower limit for the operating temperature was -10 degrees Celsius. This greatly limits the region of distribution of the gadget, as well as the favor of the consumer segment.

In the eighth place in the rating is one of the three representatives of the Artway company, which offers users a standard type of recorder with a wired connection of a second camera. Ease of setup and the absence of additional built-in functions make the AV-394 a reliable and practical device for simultaneous recording of two video streams – from the windshield of a car and directly in the cabin.

The leading camera of the DVR has a 2-megapixel CMOS matrix, shoots in the resolution Full HD (1920 × 1080) and gives a 120-degree view. The additional camera is based on the use of the same matrix, however it has only 90 degrees of view and a resolution of 640×480. In this case, the recording rate on both video sources is 30 frames per second. There is a continuous and cyclic shooting function, which allows you to create fragments of 3, 5 or 10 minutes. Among the obvious advantages of Artway AV-394, consumers consider the absence of video distortion, satisfactory shooting quality, low cost and obviously high reliability due to the absence of additional modules. Of the shortcomings, freezes and lags are most often mentioned – the characteristic features of unstable work, which, however, can be dealt with by simply rebooting the device.
