15 best automotive antifreezes

Ratings of auto and moto goods

Review of the best according to the editorial board. On the selection criteria. This material is subjective and does not constitute advertising and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before buying, you need to consult with a specialist.

Ensuring effective heat removal from a running engine is a task that thousands of specialists have been thinking about since the very inception of the automotive industry. Systems are being modernized, production materials are changing, but the leading role in the development is given to coolants. Initially, simple water played this role, but its cooling capacity ended where boiling processes began. In addition, constant heating led to rapid evaporation of liquid from the system, leading to the formation of scale and corrosion of metal elements.

A long (which took decades) search for the optimal coolant formula bore fruit, and the place of water in the system was taken by antifreezes – substances made from distillate and ethylene glycol with the addition of various kinds of additives (lobrid, carboxyl groups) and modifiers that suppress the effect of corrosion.

Recently, the development of antifreeze has reached colossal proportions, and not only official companies have intensified their workflow, but also the so-called 'shadow' manufacturers, who uninterruptedly supply the market with counterfeit goods. In view of such local 'chaos', the user cannot always make the right choice, because of which not only his car suffers, but also his financial condition. Therefore, after conducting an independent analysis of the segment, the magazine selected the 15 best antifreezes in three categories, summarized by price. User reviews were used as evaluative information to compose the final top, as well as the verdict of a group of in-house experts who studied the product to the smallest aspects.

How to choose antifreeze

The topic of the choice of antifreeze is, in fact, one of those where the principle and selection criteria have not yet been brought into any semblance of order. In this regard, the editors offer you their list of key characteristics that you need to pay attention to before buying:

Concentrate or finished product. The choice of antifreeze for this criterion is due to the specifics of its use. If the temperature in your area often goes over -40 degrees Celsius, it makes sense to purchase a concentrate to be diluted with water in the required portions. If you are completely satisfied with the temperature conditions of the antifreeze ready for bottling from the counter, then it will be preferable (both in terms of cost and in terms of the absence of the need for unnecessary actions) to buy it.

Class and color. This criterion shows which specification the composition of the purchased antifreeze corresponds to. The most popular in the automotive industry has become the classification proposed by the company Volkswagen. According to her, all antifreezes are divided into three large groups:

  1. G11 – silicate (most often green, less often blue or yellow);
  2. G12 – carboxylate (red, including all possible shades – from orange to pink);
  3. G13 – Lobrid (most often purple, but there are options in yellow).

Each of them has its own set of useful properties, information about which is given in one of the comparison tables below in the article. In addition, there is an out-of-class liquid called antifreeze, the features of which are also mentioned in the table. In general, the recommendations are as follows:

  1. we strongly advise against pouring domestic antifreeze into the cooling systems of foreign cars, since not all of their motors can tolerate the aggressive effects of compound acids;
  2. if a feature of the engine and cooling of your car is the content of a large number of brass and copper elements, then red G12 class antifreeze will be the best protection for them;
  3. with a high aluminum content in the engine and a closed cooling system, the right step would be to purchase a green G11 antifreeze with a silicate base;
  4. G13 is a universal tool for comprehensive protection of the engine and cooling system, regardless of the elements they contain, the age of the car and the degree of deterioration of its components.

Volume. This point is not the main one, however, consumers often make mistakes in the amount of purchased antifreeze. If there are no problems with the system leak behind your car, then the optimal portion for the purchase will be 4-5 liters. If the car is old, or has a small defect in which antifreeze leaks are possible, then it is better to play it safe by purchasing another 1-2 liters from above for topping up.

The main differences in color classification of antifreezes

The color is a clear sign of the antifreeze specification of the German corporation VAG (G11-G13 ++), and carries much more constructiveness than the 'pleasant visual variety', as some people who are not very familiar with the topic say. Let's figure out what properties this or that color group has:

Antifreeze color

Advantages

disadvantages

Blue

It is typical for antifreeze, which does not lend itself to the VAG classification (since it was made in the territory of the former USSR).

+ Low price

+ Boiling point is 110-115 degrees Celsius

– Extremely pronounced chemical activity, detrimental to car cooling systems

– Must be replaced at least every two years due to complete depletion of the amount of filler elements

– Poorly compatible with engines of foreign cars

Green

Belongs to class G11 antifreezes, created using silicate technology (sometimes yellow and even blue versions of the liquid come across).

+ Silicates, which are part of antifreeze in the form of additives, envelop the surfaces of the cooling system elements, protecting them from corrosion and other damage.

– The created protective layer significantly reduces the intensity of heat transfer

– Due to the influence of temperature changes and vibration, the insoluble silicate layer is destroyed, clogging the system and circulating in it as an abrasive element.

– Replacement is required at least every two years

Red

Color indicating belonging to the following classes:

G12 is a carboxylate antifreeze that eliminates all the disadvantages of silicate analogues.

G12 + is a hybrid group of coolants containing several groups of carboxylate acids.

+ Increased heat dissipation due to the absence of formed 'barriers'

+ Does not clog the system with insoluble compounds

+ Service life up to 5 years

+ Perfectly localizes and neutralizes foci of corrosion, performing a semblance of a protective function

– Do not protect the elements of the cooling system from the action of random abrasive particles and other negative factors (with the exception of corrosion)

Yellow and purple

Antifreeze class G12 ++ and G13. They are identical to those created using lobrid technology, which includes adding portions of mineral components to the organic base. They have similar advantages and disadvantages.

Their only significant difference is that G12 ++ antifreeze contains ethylene glycol, while G13 antifreeze is an environmentally friendly and harmless propylene glycol base.

+ Have a hybrid effect, absorbing the advantages of silicate and carboxyl antifreezes

+ Suitable for over five years

+ The G13 roster continues to actively develop and modify

– At the moment, they are reference coolants, the only drawback of which is their high price (As in the case of the G12 ++ and the G13).

Which is better: antifreeze or antifreeze?

Antifreeze, a distinctive feature of which is a pronounced blue (or blue) color, was developed during the existence of the USSR, and quite expectedly lost its relevance due to the release of antifreeze. However, there are still positive aspects to its use. What kind? Let's look at the detailed comparison table:

Coolant type

Advantages

disadvantages

Antifreeze

+ The actual absence of counterfeits on the market due to the senselessness of the falsification process

+ Prices are much lower than quality antifreeze

– Consumption of the additive package is uneven and more active

– Has a negative effect on the aluminum parts contained in the system

– May cause slight harm to the skin and mucous membranes of a person (more dangerous to handle than antifreeze)

– When using tholos, there is a risk of cavitation

– Under the influence of temperature differences and other operating factors, forms insoluble compounds and gels, which are gradually deposited in cooling systems and impairing the heat removal processes

Antifreeze

+ Low threshold of negative impact on plastic, rubber and aluminum elements of the cooling system and engine

+ The efficiency of cooling is higher than that of antifreeze (boiling also occurs at higher temperatures)

+ The additive package is consumed more slowly and evenly, increasing the service life of one fill

+ Counteracts the cavitation process that adversely affects the water pump fan

+ Ensures the consistency of the chemical composition, without the formation of insoluble inclusions and other substances clogging the system

– The production of counterfeits is very developed

The best inexpensive antifreezes

SINTEC LUX G12

Rating: 4.8

 SINTEC LUX G12

Carboxylate antifreeze G12 from another eminent manufacturer, which has earned the title of the best thanks to its involvement in the production of LADA cars, no matter how strange it may sound. The fact is that, in addition to popularity among consumers, SINTEC LUX G12 enjoys the confidence of AvtoVAZ, who have chosen this liquid for factory filling in the cooling systems of new cars that came off the assembly line.

The standard service life of this antifreeze is 5 years, or, in terms of mileage, 250 thousand kilometers for passenger cars. Its freezing point is -40 degrees Celsius, and this threshold remains stable throughout its entire service life. The composition is literally stuffed with all kinds of organic additives, modifiers and catalysts, the combined action of which leads to an effective fight against traces of corrosion, scale, solid inclusions, and also allows you to keep the system in perfect cleanliness. Despite the simplicity of packaging, consumers do not often complain about the purchase of counterfeits, which indicates a low interest in the product from counterfeit manufacturers. In terms of the totality of features and control parameters, it was SINTEC LUX that showed itself better than the others, for which it was raised to the rank of the best antifreeze in the budget segment.

Advantages

  • a small number of fakes on the market;
  • crystallization occurs at a temperature of -40 degrees Celsius;
  • stable chemical composition with the addition of a package of organic additives, modifiers and catalysts;
  • up to 5 years of guaranteed service with moderate mileage (up to 250 thousand kilometers);
  • optimal cost for the budget segment.

disadvantages

  • not found.

LUKOIL Red G12

Rating: 4.7

 LUKOIL Red G12

One step away from the leading position of the rating is red antifreeze from the leading manufacturer of motor oil in the person of Lukoil, which has become a kind of quality standard for a large consumer segment. Meeting all the requirements of the G12 standard, the coolant evenly and most efficiently uses the additives, which increases the service life of one fill up to 6 years. The manifestation of such qualities became possible due to the introduction of modifiers that minimize the risk of destruction of the additive package under the influence of temperature differences and play the role of its 'smart' activator.

However, Lukoil Red G12 was not spared by rather sad circumstances. Due to the extremely high popularity, this antifreeze has become the most counterfeit in the budget segment. But, as such, the manufacturer does not fight counterfeiters, limiting himself to indirect warnings to corporate clients about the importance of purchasing products through authorized dealers. Therefore, with all due respect to the quality of the original, we simply cannot assign Red the first line of the rating.

Advantages

  • a large package of filler materials and modifiers that affect the degree of antifreeze activity;
  • reliable protection against corrosion and neutralization of the process of formation of solid inclusions;
  • honestly withstands up to -40 degrees of frost;
  • extremely delicate effect on rubber, plastic and metal parts of the cooling system.

disadvantages

  • the most counterfeit antifreeze in the budget segment.

Felix Carbox G12

Rating: 4.6

Felix Carbox G12

Not a bad G12 standard carboxylate antifreeze, which got into the rating due to good reviews from the consumer segment. The positive qualities of the domestic development were appreciated mainly by the owners of used cars (aged from 8 to 12 years), noting the important cleaning properties, as well as the 'smart' mechanism of action on corrosion centers with a reduced consumption of additives to increase the life of one fill.

Experiments show that the Felix Carbox provides active cooling of engines regardless of their power, whether it is (for example) a turbocharged V6 of a passenger car or a heavy-duty truck model. The boiling point of this antifreeze is 110 degrees Celsius, which is 5 degrees higher than the value specified by the standards. The first signs of crystallization appear here at the honestly stated on the label -40 degrees Celsius, which is also a sign of a good product. The only caveat is the volume of counterfeit: due to the simplicity of the canister, it is not difficult for shady manufacturers to make lower-quality copies, especially given the high popularity of budget liquid.

Advantages

  • antifreeze that meets all standards of the G12 class (has approvals ASTM D 3306, ASTM D 4985, KSM 2142, etc.);
  • copes well with the functions of maintaining a satisfactory operating condition of old engines;
  • boils at 110, and freezes at -40 degrees Celsius;
  • mechanism of economical and efficient consumption of additives, allowing to increase the resource of one fill.

disadvantages

  • a high probability of stumbling upon a fake in the retail market.

Highway G11 +

Rating: 4.5

Highway G11 +

Oddly enough, in spite of its green color, Highway G11 + is a carboxylate antifreeze based on organic additives and ethylene glycol, typical for G12 class products. The G11 + mark (or Long Life, as indicated on the can itself) in this case means nothing more than a transition to a new set of active ingredients, but with the preservation of the traditional color, and rather acts as a powerful marketing weapon.

In general, the mechanism of action of Highway is no different from standard carboxylate antifreezes: the same pronounced functions of counteracting foci of corrosion and scale formation, keeping the cooling system clean and ensuring effective heat dissipation. The liquid honestly fulfills the declared five years of service, and also does not freeze up to -40 degrees Celsius. It is also noteworthy that antifreeze is supplied in cans, making the product unattractive for counterfeit manufacturers.

Advantages

  • formula G11 +, which is, in fact, analogous to G12, but in green;
  • provides reliable protection of the system against corrosion and scale;
  • honestly withstands up to -40 degrees of frost;
  • the period of full depletion of the resource of one filling is 5 years.

disadvantages

  • the most expensive product in the budget segment.

Starex red

Rating: 4.5

 Starex red

The rating of the best inexpensive antifreezes is opened by a development from the Starex company, which corresponds to the class of G12 carboxylate coolants. It has a red color with fluorescent additives and organics that have an overwhelming effect on corrosion centers. In addition, the ethylene glycol-based formula actively counteracts the formation of scale, protecting the cooling system from the abrasive effects of solid deposits and clogging.

Qualitatively, Starex Red meets almost all the requirements of international standards SAE J 1034, ASTM D 3306 and ASTM D 4985, with the exception of separate operational aspects. In particular, the freezing point of the liquid was also slightly underestimated: the label indicates -40 degrees Celsius, however, in operation, the crystallization of the carboxylate composition begins already at -35 degrees. An annoying aspect, which, however, looks very dignified even without 'winding up'.

Advantages

  • low price for liquid of class G12, even by the standards of the budget segment;
  • performs well in neutralizing corrosion and suppressing scale formation;
  • has a fluorescent additive, the consumption of which shows the degree of suitability for further use.

disadvantages

  • the real freezing point of antifreeze differs from the declared one;
  • you can stumble upon a fake.

The best antifreezes for cars in terms of price-quality ratio

Liqui Moly Langzeit GTL12 Plus

Rating: 4.9

Liqui Moly Langzeit GTL12 Plus

And again, this time the category leader is a product from the notorious German company Liqui Moly, which, although it is quite expensive, is highly respected among car owners around the world. Why, you ask? After all, the G12 class has long ceased to be an innovative alternative, although it continues to maintain the brand of a solid set of standards. The fact is that the Germans approach quality assurance issues in a completely different way than other manufacturers, thereby bringing their products to the highest limits in this regard. And the Langzeit GTL12 Plus is no exception.

This unique antifreeze combines several types of carboxylate acids and, according to a number of experts, there is a small amount of mineral additives that work to benefit the overall concept of protecting the engine and cooling system. A little unsettling is the fact that the official website recommends (!) To replace antifreeze once a season, which is fundamentally contrary to common sense and any laws of logic. According to the reports of all the same experts, the liquid feels great when replaced every five years, ensuring the absolute purity of the system.

Advantages

  • excellent combination of price and quality;
  • the ability to transfer temperatures from -40 to 155 degrees Celsius;
  • high conditions of the ethylene glycol base and a varied composition of the additive package;
  • huge trust in the product from car manufacturers and car owners.

disadvantages

  • not found.

SINTEC UNLIMITED G12 ++

Rating: 4.8

 SINTEC UNLIMITED G12 ++

As the official description says, SINTEC UNLIMITED G12 ++ is the only lobrid antifreeze produced in the Russian Federation. Its strengths, traditionally for its class, are a universal formula with carboxylate and mineral additives, as well as high temperature stability, which allowed it to withstand temperatures up to 160 degrees Celsius. Needless to say that in this situation, both corrosion resistance and the prevention of the formation of carbon deposits were twisted to the maximum?

In addition, in SINTEC UNLIMITED G12 ++, the cavitation suppression function was most clearly expressed, which slowly but surely destroys the cooling system pump. If we talk about shortcomings, then first of all, the abundance of counterfeits on the domestic market catches the eye. SINTEC has been criticized more than once for its indifference to consumer problems, including the problem of counterfeiting its own goods. She does not want to radically revise the packing methods, as well as switch to less radical sealing devices, by which one can distinguish unscrupulous goods. One way or another, the original product itself is very good, and even due to its high cost, it definitely deserves one of the leading places in the rating of the best.

Advantages

  • hybrid formula based on the most purified elitenglycol;
  • absolute safety for the components of the cooling system;
  • boils at 160 degrees Celsius;
  • provides cooling and protection of the cooling circuit for 5 years;
  • perfectly resists the formation of mineral deposits, corrosion and various destructive processes of vulnerable elements.

disadvantages

  • a huge number of fakes in the domestic market.

FELIX PROLONGER -40

Rating: 4.8

 FELIX PROLONGER -40

Quite cheap antifreeze with, let's not hide it, slightly overestimated capabilities, which consumers loved so much that putting it below the third place in the rating would be reprehensible. PROLONGER, which already uses the outdated formula of the G11 standard, is distinguished by a hybrid composition, where, in addition to silicates, a little carboxylate acids and organics were added. Thus, despite the general similarity to other members of the class, its abilities are not limited to the notorious creation of a silicon film over the cooling system parts. Organic additives added the property of inhibiting corrosion, as well as the formation of scale and deposits of the solid fraction, which is so important for antifreeze.

If the manufacturers were clearly cheating with the freezing point, then they painted everything more than objectively regarding the boiling point. 109 degrees Celsius is not the most outstanding result, but hardly anyone would dare to bring the motor to such values. In general, if you neglect the small disadvantages inherent in entry-class fluids, you will get a very reliable antifreeze that is extremely popular in consumer circles.

Advantages

  • very low price;
  • high popularity among domestic consumers;
  • a hybrid composition on a silicate base with the addition of organic additives and carboxylate acids;
  • boils at 109 degrees Celsius;
  • has been working steadily for three years.

disadvantages

  • the freezing point of the liquid is underestimated by 3-5 degrees.

AGA Z65

Rating: 4.7

 AGA Z65

Antifreeze with a rich complex of 'anti-' substances in the composition is a very good example of how a generally unknown product becomes a real market leader in terms of sales. Its advantage over its competitors was that, being a concentrate with a freezing point of about -65 degrees Celsius, the actual cost referred it to the category of standard antifreeze in the budget segment. As a result, users immediately noticed a personal benefit in this and did not hesitate to use the yellow G12 ++ coolant.

Another significant advantage of AGA Z65 is the possibility of mixing with absolutely any antifreeze based on ethylene glycol. The already hybrid composition, with the addition of, say, a silicate liquid G11, enhanced the action of the protective mechanisms of polymer parts, at the same time making the process of 'curing' corrosion foci on the metal somewhat more complicated. In general, it is entirely up to the consumer to arrive at a perfect working formula by trial and error, and the manufacturer should be given credit for that. Unfortunately, the AGA Z65 did not reach the leading positions in the rating, but it certainly deserved to be included in it.

Advantages

  • can be mixed with other ethylene glycol based antifreezes;
  • in concentrated form, the freezing point is -65 degrees Celsius (and the boiling point is 132);
  • extended package of additives (antioxidant, anticorrosion, antifoam and antifriction);
  • very favorable price;
  • presence of fluorescent additives to indicate a possible leak in the system.

disadvantages

  • not found.

Toyota Long Life Coolant Red Concentrate 1L

Rating: 4.6

Toyota Long Life Coolant Red Concentrate 1L

Another product of the Japanese part of the segment of manufacturers, created for the purpose of filling cars of the brand Toyota. It is produced exclusively as a concentrate, and for this distribution method it costs quite adequately. Long Life Coolant is a typical G12 red liquid that can withstand up to -80 ° C when undiluted. For residents of the northern regions, in which the temperature often drops below -40 degrees Celsius, this is a great product. Therefore, it becomes clear that with the arrival on the domestic market, they began to pour it not only in the car of the famous Japanese brand: although antifreeze does not have the appropriate approval, consumers (owners of Russian cars) rely entirely on its quality indicators.

If we talk about the situation in more detail, then by its action Toyota Long Life Coolant Red is virtually indistinguishable from its direct competitors. The fight against corrosion is at the level, as well as the resistance to soot, boiling begins only at around 140 degrees Celsius, and the reserve of resources is enough for 5 years of successful use. There is just one small advantage: you can dilute the concentrate in any proportions, even to obtain mind-blowing operating temperatures.

Advantages

  • a small number of fakes on the market;
  • the concentrate can be diluted in any required proportions;
  • Japanese quality, manifested not only in the cooling systems of the company's cars Toyota;
  • increased number of active additives.

disadvantages

  • not found.

TCL Power Coolant Green -40 2L

Rating: 4.4

TCL Power Coolant Green -40 2L

The reinforced hybrid composition of the G12 ++ class is of a rather atypical green color, which entered the Russian market through a long sales path within Japan. It is mainly used for filling cars with brands Lexus, Mitsubishi, Honda, Suzuki and similar (based on the country of origin), but often are also used as antifreeze for domestic cars. It is quite expensive by the standards of the category, but it compensates for this with good performance and positive effects of application.

In particular, consumers note the very high activity of TCL Power Coolant in relation to metal oxides. The splitting of an unwanted chemical compound occurs literally a few days after pouring, and the effect of exposure in order to protect the part continues throughout the entire service life. Which, by the way, is 4 years, subject to moderate use of the vehicle. Among other things, the organic composition of the additives includes a small portion of mineral components that create a microstructural protective film on polymers and non-ferrous metals. Thus, the innovative antifreeze from TCL allows not only to solve the problem of removing high temperatures, but also to significantly reduce the wear of the elements of the engine cooling system.

Advantages

  • hybrid composition enhanced by introducing modifiers and mineral additives;
  • does not freeze down to -40 degrees Celsius;
  • provides comprehensive protection for a group of materials used to create engine cooling systems;
  • designed for 4 years of use.

disadvantages

  • high cost of the composition in Russia.

MOTUL INUGEL EXPERT

Rating: 4.5

 MOTUL INUGEL EXPERT

G11 class coolant continues to be popular in the domestic market, even despite a solid stream of competitors that have appeared recently. The results of its use cannot be called reference (especially since the release of G13 antifreezes), but it still makes its contribution to the operation of the engine. In particular, the formation of a silicate layer that protects the metal and polymers from the corrosive effects of an acidic environment, as well as preserving foci of corrosion. True, you will not wait for an effective fight against rust: there are very few inhibitors in the composition, and they cannot break through a dense solid film.

If we talk about the operational capabilities of MOTUL INUGEL EXPERT, then we can note the temperature of the beginning of crystallization and boiling, which is quite good for the G11 – -36.4 and 135 degrees Celsius, respectively. Due to the nominally high quality, many car manufacturers turn to the services of French antifreeze, in particular, brands Peugeot and the General Motors concern show the greatest loyalty. However, in the domestic market, consumers are increasingly faced with cheap fakes, which negatively affects the company's prestige in the antifreeze segment. However, Motul itself is not trying to change the situation, at least by a banal improvement of the packaging container.

Advantages

  • very high quality indicators for G11 standard fluid;
  • boiling begins at 135 degrees Celsius, and freezing at -36;
  • a stable form of formation of a silicate protective layer;
  • excellent heat transfer properties.

disadvantages

  • a large number of fakes in the domestic antifreeze market.

The best antifreeze concentrates

MOBIL ANTIFREEZE ULTRA

Rating: 4.9

 MOBIL ANTIFREEZE ULTRA

Concentrated antifreeze class G13 on a lobrid basis, the pH of which is 8.2-8.6 units. This means that the injected liquid has, albeit acidified, nevertheless a harmless environment, without affecting the state of the polymer elements (plastic, rubber) and metal parts in the cooling system circuit. In addition to the existing complex of organic additives, manufacturers have introduced a number of mineral components that increase both the resistance of antifreeze to temperature extremes and the effect of use.

As official statistics show, MOBIL ANTIFREEZE ULTRA is most often used for filling new cars, mainly in the premium segment. Its main advantages include a very high boiling point (about 160 degrees Celsius), a low (-45) freezing point of the finished liquid mixed in a 1: 1 ratio, and a shelf life of five years. This is an excellent concentrate, the acquisition of which is profitable even in terms of price.

Advantages

  • freezing point is -45 degrees Celsius;
  • an extended range of additives that increase resistance to temperature changes;
  • providing protection against corrosion, carbon deposits and solid deposits;
  • absolutely safe for metal, plastic and rubber products.

disadvantages

  • not found.

Liqui Moly Kuhlerfrostschutz KFS 2001 Plus

Rating: 4.8

 Liqui Moly Kuhlerfrostschutz KFS 2001 Plus

The famous German concentrate of the G12 + class, which has received unequivocal approval from the majority of car manufacturers around the world. It is used as a regular antifreeze for cooling systems of VAG cars, Mercedes – Benz and BMW. In everyday life, it can be mixed with water in any proportions, however, manufacturers are still recommended to comply with formal standards – 1: 1, 1: 1.5 or 1: 2. Within these limits, car owners can get antifreeze with a freezing point of -40, -27 and -20 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the user manual posted on the company's official website, Kuhlerfrostschutz KFS 2001 Plus can be freely mixed with other carboxylate compounds (G12, G12 +), as well as with silicate-based G11 antifreezes, as a result of which a kind of balancing system is learned (silicates form a protective film, and carbon acids neutralize the effect of rust foci and break down solid inclusions). True, such a solution will hardly work for a couple of years. But in its pure form, its potential is more than enough for a five-year period, which is an ideal result for a product with such a cost.

Advantages

  • the possibility of mixing the carboxylate composition with silicate antifreezes;
  • in its pure form, the working resource of the liquid is enough for 5 years;
  • a reliable and chemically resistant composition that does not negatively affect the composite material groups.

disadvantages

  • high level of cost.

Castrol Radicool SF

Rating: 4.7

 Castrol Radicool SF

Concentrate of G12 class carboxylate antifreeze with an extended drain interval, which has gained popularity among drivers of cars and trucks with diesel engines. Its one filling is more than enough for 3 years of effective cooling of the power plant with accompanying protection against corrosion and the formation of solid sedimentary particles.

In general, there are no strict restrictions on the preparation of Castrol Radicool SF for use, but manufacturers recommend diluting the concentrate with water in a ratio of 33 to 50%. In this case, its freezing point will fluctuate around -35 degrees Celsius, and signs of boiling appear closer to 150 degrees. Thus, this coolant is quite a worthy option for pouring on everyday life, the cost of which stands out positively against the background of competitors.

Advantages

  • wide possibilities of dilution with a huge range of obtained operating temperatures;
  • high-quality protection of the system against scale and corrosion due to the content of inhibitors and additives;
  • replacement interval – three years.

disadvantages

  • high chemical activity.
