Samsung Galaxy S9 + 128GB

Rating: 4.9

Samsung Galaxy S9 + 128GB

The top South Korean smartphone, the capabilities of which almost no one surpasses. The buyer of this device will love the f / 1.5 aperture dual camera. Excellent shots are obtained even in low light conditions when competitors give up. At the same time, the smartphone copes well with determining the subject, blurring the background if the portrait mode is selected. The manufacturer did not forget about optical stabilization, which allows shooting smoother video – hand shake will not affect it. By the way, the video is recorded here in 4K resolution at 30 frames / s. Or with a higher frequency if you change the resolution to Full HD. You can find fault with the camera only about the lack of optical zoom – the South Koreans have planned experiments with it for the future.

The picture is displayed here on a smart display with a diagonal of 6.2 inches. The resolution of 2960×1440 pixels allowed reaching a pixel density of 531 PPI. This means that individual pixels can only be viewed under a microscope! But the production technology looks more important. Traditionally, Samsung uses AMOLED – the panel, as a result of which the buyer is waiting for perfect blacks and low power consumption. The screen has an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9, which also plays a plus for him – it is convenient to work with several applications at the same time. Nothing bad can be said about the protective glass, which is worthy of surviving falls and encounters with sharp objects. By the way, the display is able to work even under water, for which we should thank the special glue under the case.

Inside this smartphone is a lot of all kinds of components. The eight-core processor of our own production has enormous processing power. It is helped by 6 GB of RAM. The smartphone has support for LTE-A of the 18th category – incredibly fast Internet is provided to you. The device is also capable of working in Wi-Fi 802.11ac networks, this feature will be appreciated by the owners of new routers. Also wireless modules present here include Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and ANT +. The latter is useful for athletes who have various measuring sensors.

Unlike cheaper smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S9 + is capable of recognizing not only the fingerprint but also the iris of the eyes. As a result, the level of protection here turned out to be as high as possible. Everything is in order and with the battery life. By the way, the battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh has support for Quick Charge 2.0 fast charging technology.

Perhaps, you can talk about this smartphone for a very long time. The top smartphone running Android 8.0 doesn't really have any flaws. Its almost frameless design will definitely delight you, as you will be delighted with the rest of the characteristics!

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 128GB

Rating: 4.8

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 128GB

At one time, Galaxy Note became the progenitor of phablets. He proved that a large smartphone can be both convenient and popular. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is running Android 8.1. And you can be sure that in 2019 it will receive an update in the form of a 'nine', if Google deigns to release this version. The diagonal of the display is brought here to 6.4 inches. At the same time, the side edges are almost completely eliminated, so the device is quite comfortable in the hand. The screen was created using technology AMOLED, as a result, the color rendition and battery life are pleasantly pleasing here. By the way, the display can be active in constant mode – that is, the time and date are displayed on it. The screen resolution is 2960×1440 pixels. It also uses an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9. This can be annoying when watching videos (not in the dark, when the side black bars are not visible), but it is convenient to interact with two applications at the same time on such a display.

The most important feature of this model is the stylus. With it, you can quickly jot down a note, even on the locked screen! And now this accessory has a built-in battery. The battery is needed in order to use the stylus as a remote control – from now on, the system senses pressing a button from a distance. That is, for example, by pressing the button located on one of the stylus edges, you can take a photo or pause video playback. Imagination is not amazing, but it is better to have this function than not.

Another highlight of the Galaxy Note 9 is the dual camera setup. Here, the second lens is not used to blur the background, but to double the optical zoom. Wide-angle optics have an f / 1.5 aperture. There is also optical stabilization, which allows you to make the shutter speed slower. Finally, one cannot fail to note the possibility of shooting video in 4K resolution at 60 frames / s – so far only a few smartphones are capable of such.

Otherwise, this is a typical flagship of the South Korean company Samsung. It has support for almost all high-speed wireless standards. The device is powered by a powerful eight-core processor. The large amount of memory is not forgotten either. Well, the battery capacity has been increased to 4000 mAh. You can also charge it wirelessly.

Advantages

  • Built-in retina and fingerprint scanners;
  • Water protection implemented;
  • There is a capacious battery with support for fast charging;
  • Sufficient memory for most users;
  • Very powerful processor;
  • High speed wireless networks are supported;
  • There is an NFC chip;
  • Remarkable dual cameras offering optical zoom;
  • Capable of shooting 4K video at high frame rates;
  • Good front camera
  • Chic AMOLED – high pixel density display;
  • A fresh version of the operating system is installed;
  • A smart stylus is used.

disadvantages

  • Weight is 201g;
  • Not everyone will like the sizes;
  • Curled edges of the screen may glare in the sun.

Samsung Galaxy S8 + 128GB

Rating: 4.8

Samsung Galaxy S8 + 128GB

This flagship was launched in the summer of 2017. However, do not think that its characteristics are out of date. Otherwise, the device would not have made it into our rating! This smartphone has a full-fledged waterproof rating corresponding to the IP68 class. It is powered by a Samsung Exynos 8895 processor. This is a top-end eight-core solution that can handle any task. Also, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of permanent memory are hidden under the body of the gadget – this amount is enough for most buyers.

Most of the memory will be spent on photo and video shooting. The fact is that the smartphone has an excellent 12-megapixel camera, complemented by optical image stabilization. The aperture is open to f / 1.7, allowing you to shoot even at dusk. If we talk about video, then it is recorded in 4K resolution at 30 frames / s.

The display here is AMOLED – a panel with a diagonal of 6.2 inches. It has curved edges, so the device does not take up much space in the palm. The screen can display the time and date in a constant mode – organic LEDs spend a minimum amount of energy on this. The display resolution is 2960×1440 pixels. Well, the aspect ratio of 18.5: 9 allows you to simultaneously use a couple of applications without experiencing much discomfort.

Samsung Galaxy S8 + is one of the first smartphones to receive Bluetooth 5.0. There are also LTE-A Cat. 16 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The user can also connect all kinds of sensors via ANT +. The manufacturer has not forgotten the NFC chip, which allows you to replace a bank card with a smartphone. In a word, everything is in order with the wireless modules. As with everything else. In particular, personal data protection is provided not only by a fingerprint sensor, but also by an iris scanner. Well, the battery installed here has a capacity of 3500 mAh – the energy supply is enough for the whole day, unless you start to waste it in games.

Advantages

  • There are iris and fingerprint scanners;
  • Water protection implemented;
  • The battery has support for wireless and fast charging;
  • A very powerful processor is built in;
  • Large amount of memory;
  • High speed wireless networks are supported;
  • There is an NFC chip;
  • Good rear camera capable of 4K video
  • Quite good front camera;
  • Excellent AMOLED – screen.

disadvantages

  • High price;
  • Slippery body;
  • The Bixby button is not used in our country.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 64GB

Rating: 4.7

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 64GB

A wonderful South Korean phablet, complete with a smart stylus. This device was announced in the fall of 2017, and therefore its specifications are not a bit outdated. Its body is traditionally made of metal and glass. Of course, this makes the smartphone quite slippery. But on the other hand, wireless charging is implemented here due to the glass back panel. The device also supports fast charging, which is much more relevant among users. The capacity of the battery installed here reaches 3300 mAh. This is enough for a long time. For example, in the music listening mode, the device is able to hold out for 72 hours.

The most energy efficient component in our top rated phablet is the LCD. It was created using technology AMOLED. This means that organic LEDs are engaged in displaying the picture. With no backlit backing layer, blacks are perfect. The diagonal of the screen installed here is 6.3 inches, and the resolution is 2960×1440 pixels. The aspect ratio, as you might have guessed, is 18.5: 9. It turns out that the smartphone is designed to work with several applications at the same time.

The Galaxy Note line comes with a smart stylus. Here he is also present. Of course, it is not equipped with a built-in battery here, so it will not work as a remote control. However, even without this, the accessory's capabilities are more than enough. Most of all, he should like drawing lovers. The fact is that the system detects a huge number of gradations of pressing, so the thickness of the line can be adjusted by the degree of pressing the stylus.

Of course, there is also a full-fledged water protection – if the smartphone falls into the bath, then nothing will happen to it. A dual camera can be found on the back of the device. It consists of 12-megapixel sensors, one of which is supplemented with an optical stabilizer. The first lens here consists of wide-angle optics, under which there is an f / 1.7 aperture. Well, due to the second, an optical double zoom is implemented. You can shoot this way not only photos, but also videos, including in 4K resolution.

Everything is fine with the smartphone and with the rest of the specifications. It supports high-speed wireless standards, from LTE-A 16th category to Bluetooth 5.0 and even ANT +. A decent amount of memory is installed here. 64GB of ROM may not be enough if you shoot 4K videos regularly, though. Fortunately, no one bothers to replace the second SIM card with an external drive.

Advantages

  • Comes with a smart stylus;
  • Built-in capacious battery with support for wireless charging;
  • A very powerful processor is used;
  • The fingerprint sensor is supplemented with a fingerprint scanner;
  • There is a lot of memory;
  • A huge number of wireless modules;
  • Excellent camera with 2x optical zoom;
  • Not a bad 8-megapixel front camera;
  • Excellent AMOLED – display;
  • There is water protection.

disadvantages

  • High price;
  • Weight reaches 195 g;
  • Slippery body;
  • The sizes will not suit everyone.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 32GB

Rating: 4.7

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge 32GB

Already a fairly old flagship, which comes with the operating system Android 6.0 (then upgraded to the seventh version). It differs from most competitors by its curved side display edges. Some users even find them too curved. The diagonal of the screen installed here is 5.5 inches, which makes the device more compact than most other flagships. The display resolution is 2560×1440 pixels, which with such a diagonal can be considered an ideal parameter. The screen was created, of course, using technology AMOLED. Therefore, you can activate the 'Always on display' function when the time, date and some other information is displayed on it in a constant mode. Also, the user is waiting for perfect blacks and low power consumption.

Above the screen is the lens of a modest 5 megapixel camera. The front-facing camera cannot boast of anything special, but it copes well with its main function. The main camera is built in here, a more advanced one – an f / 1.7 aperture and a 12-megapixel matrix are hidden under its optics. Also, this camera is supplemented with optical stabilization, which simplifies shooting in low light conditions. Of course, if you compare this camera with those modules that are in the followers, then the loss in quality and functionality will be noticeable. But if you compare the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with the mid-budget devices currently being released, then the cameras may well 'wrestle'. By the way, the device is capable of shooting 4K video, albeit only at 30 frames / s.

The device is powered by an eight-core processor of its own production. Also under the body of the smartphone are 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of permanent memory. Perhaps it is the amount of memory that becomes the vulnerability of the gadget – at some moments it is sorely lacking. And the memory card does not always save, because most applications are not installed on it. The rest of the device inspires respect. Well, you will not complain about the lack of an iris scanner? Instead, you will enjoy the presence of high-speed wireless modules, including ANT + and NFC. Also, everything is in order here with the battery – it has a capacity of 3600 mAh. Finally, we cannot fail to mention the presence of water protection – the device has received an IP68 certificate. At the same time, the smartphone turned out to be quite light – 157 g against the background of later released successors seem insignificant.

Advantages

  • Water protection implemented;
  • Excellent AMOLED – display;
  • Very good rear camera with optical stabilization;
  • There is support for LTE-A and Wi-Fi 802.11ac;
  • Can be used as a bank card;
  • There is a possibility of measuring heart rate;
  • A powerful processor is used;
  • Capacious battery with fast and wireless charging;
  • The fingerprint sensor is not forgotten.

disadvantages

  • Not the best front camera
  • Not the largest amount of memory for a flagship;
  • The operating system will no longer be updated;
  • Curved display edges are not to everyone's liking.

Samsung Galaxy A8 + SM-A730F / DS

Rating: 4.6

Samsung Galaxy A8 + SM-A730F / DS

This smartphone was created by a South Korean company for selfie lovers. This is exactly the conclusion that can be drawn after getting acquainted with its front camera. The fact is that it is double here. Matrices with a resolution of 16 and 8 megapixels are hidden under the lenses. It seems that the capabilities of such a camera will be enough even for a girl who sends hundreds of 'selfies' to Instagram every day. It should also be noted that if the smartphone is lost, the user will not provide access to his photos to an unauthorized person – this excludes the fingerprint scanner available here.

Unfortunately, not all girls will like the device. The large size of the device spoils the joyful picture. And holding a smartphone weighing 191 g in your hand is still a pleasure. Another disadvantage is the not very large amount of memory. However, the rear camera cannot shoot 4K video, so memory will not be wasted too quickly. By the way, if we talk about the rear camera, then only without hiding positive emotions. The module has a 16-megapixel sensor, light that enters through an f / 1.7 aperture. In a word, only the cameras built into the flagships shoot better.

The image is displayed here on a 6-inch AMOLED – display. Its resolution is 2220×1080 pixels. This may seem like a low value. But the pixel density of 411 PPI suggests otherwise. By the way, the aspect ratio is ideal for working with a couple of applications at the same time.

Otherwise, this is a typical expensive South Korean smartphone. It has support for high-speed LTE networks and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The device allows you to pay for purchases using the connection with the terminal via NFC. Nothing bad can be said about the eight-core processor. Well, the installed battery will please with a capacity of 3500 mAh. With AMOLED – the display should definitely be enough for a full day of battery life. Charging here is carried out using a power adapter that connects to the USB Type-C connector.

Advantages

  • Good AMOLED – display with an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9;
  • Decent rear camera with f / 1.7 aperture
  • Good front camera
  • High speed wireless networks are supported;
  • NFC chip is not forgotten;
  • A capacious battery is installed;
  • There is a fingerprint scanner.

disadvantages

  • Weight reaches 191 g;
  • Not very large amount of memory;
  • Dimensions may seem oversized.

Samsung Galaxy A6 + 32GB

Rating: 4.6

Samsung Galaxy A6 + 32GB

One of the freshest smartphones in our ranking. This is evidenced not only by the date of the announcement, but also by the fact that the device operates under Android 8.0. It looks like it was also made for the selfie shooter. The thing is, it has a 24MP front camera! Even flagships don't have anything like this built in! However, you need to understand that the sensor of the 'front camera' of some flagship is physically larger, so the result of shooting even at a lower resolution will be of better quality.

The rear camera here is also far from the worst. It is double, and its main lens has an aperture of f / 1.7. An optical stabilizer would also contribute to gorgeous shooting in low light conditions, but its South Korean manufacturer decided not to integrate it. The matrices used here have a resolution of 16 and 5 megapixels. The second sensor plays a supporting role, helping to blur the background when shooting portraits.

The picture is displayed here with a 6-inch display. Samsung has created it using technology AMOLED, so the user will enjoy perfect blacks. The screen resolution is 2220×1080 pixels, which is not bad. You may well have figured out that the aspect ratio used here is 18.5: 9. This is not great news for those who like to watch YouTube videos. But on the other hand, there is enough room on the screen to display two applications at the same time. And for working with them, the proprietary South Korean shell is perfectly sharpened.

Three color versions of the device went on sale. All of them work great on LTE networks, providing high-speed data transfer. Only owners of new routers can make claims to the device – they will be puzzled that the smartphone only understands the Wi-Fi 802.11n standard. But here there are NFC and ANT + modules. The first will allow you to use your smartphone as a bank card, and the second will help in connecting a cadence sensor and other similar devices. Still under the body of the gadget are 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of permanent memory. A bit, but bearable. The South Korean manufacturer did not forget about the fingerprint scanner. As for the battery, its capacity reaches 3500 mAh.

Advantages

  • The latest version of the operating system;
  • Excellent AMOLED – display;
  • High-quality dual camera with f / 1.7 aperture;
  • Great front camera
  • There is support for LTE-A of the sixth category;
  • There are NFC and ANT + chips;
  • Installed a powerful eight-core processor;
  • Capacious battery;
  • Fingerprint scanner is not forgotten;
  • The price tag cannot be called overpriced.

disadvantages

  • A fairly modest amount of memory.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro SM-J730G

Rating: 4.5

Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro SM-J730G

Another smartphone in our ranking, the edges of the display have a slight curvature. The screen measures 5.5 inches, which makes the device relatively small. Of course, these are not those compact devices that were popular in the past, but the smartphone will definitely fit in your pocket. The display resolution is 1920×1080 pixels, which until recently was the standard for such devices. However, even now the pixelation cannot be distinguished, which means that watching videos will be as comfortable as possible. By the way, the aspect ratio of 16: 9 only contributes to this – there will be no black bars when watching a video. And even if they were present, the technology AMOLED allows the screen to display perfect blacks – you simply won't see them in the dark.

On the back of the device is a 13-megapixel camera with f / 1.7 aperture. Photo quality is average. It is noticeable that in this regard the device loses to the flagships, but outperforms the budget 'Chinese'. With this camera, you can shoot video – the picture is written in resolution Full HD and with a frequency of 30 frames / s It is a pity that the South Korean manufacturer has not been generous with the optical image stabilizer. However, he needed to save on something. By the way, someone will be glad that Samsung did not save on the front camera. The optics are simple, but the matrix resolution is increased to 13 megapixels. All skin imperfections in the picture will be visible very well, so one or another photo editor that knows how to eliminate them will not be superfluous.

The strangest component of this smartphone is the battery. It seems to have a capacity of 3600 mAh. The manufacturer even claims that this parameter is enough for 59 hours of work in music listening mode. However, in practice, many buyers have barely enough full charge for a day of battery life. The connector used to connect the network adapter is also capable of confusing – this is gradually obsolete micro-USB.

If we talk about wireless modules, then in this regard, the smartphone only pleases. Only ANT +, required by the minimum number of users, was left behind. There is even NFC here, which, it's hard to argue with, is much more useful. Also, the smartphone has support for working in LTE networks. High-speed data transmission is also carried out via Wi-Fi 802.11ac – you just need to stock up on the appropriate router. The work of all this stuff is provided by an eight-core processor. Its clock frequency does not exceed 1600 MHz, so in games you will have to reduce the level of graphics, albeit not too much. The smartphone also has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of permanent memory – also nothing out of the ordinary. If you need a microSD card, then the slot for it has not gone anywhere, and the maximum system recognizes a drive with a capacity of up to 256 GB.

Perhaps, the South Koreans have turned out to be a very good smartphone with a minimum number of flaws. It has a metal body, which is why the smartphone turned out to be very weighty. And it should be noted that there is a fingerprint scanner here. It is a pity that the release of this model has been discontinued, and therefore it is becoming more difficult to find it on sale every day.

Advantages

  • Excellent AMOLED – curved display
  • Decent wide aperture rear camera
  • Good front camera
  • Implemented support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac and LTE;
  • There is an NFC chip;
  • Optimal memory size for this price;
  • There is a fingerprint scanner.

disadvantages

  • Weight is 181g;
  • Micro-USB connector is used;
  • Not the longest battery life.

Samsung Galaxy C8 32GB

Rating: 4.5

Samsung Galaxy C8 32GB

Another mid-budget smartphone in our ranking. Its technical characteristics are not amazing, but they will not make you disappointed either. On the front panel of the device there is a 5.5-inch display, made, of course, according to technology AMOLED. The resolution of this screen is 1920×1080 pixels. Therefore, it is ideal for watching videos. It also looks good on photos taken with the rear camera installed here. Matrices with a resolution of 13 and 5 megapixels are hidden under its lenses. The camera is also capable of boasting an f / 1.7 aperture thanks to which high-quality shooting in the dark is possible, albeit not ideal. It remains to be regretted that there is no optical image stabilization here. Video with this camera is recorded in resolution Full HD, the frequency will be equal to 30 frames per second. It seems that this will be enough for most buyers of a mid-budget device. Such people should be happy with the front camera. It consists of only one lens, but underneath is a 16-megapixel matrix.

A modern smartphone is tailored for its use in various wireless networks. In this regard, the Samsung Galaxy C8 shows itself from the good side. Again, good, not ideal. If there are no special complaints about the LTE module, then Wi-Fi could please with support for the 802.11ac standard. The device also includes Bluetooth 4.2, which helps in connecting wireless headsets and speakers. But NFC is not here, which is why you will have to forget about using a smartphone as a bank card.

The operating system Android 7.1 is provided by an eight-core processor MediaTek Helio P20. This is a mid-budget chipset, which is powerful enough for almost all existing applications. In games, you still have to lower the graphics, otherwise you will observe slowdowns. The smartphone also has 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM. Support for a memory card has not gone anywhere, but the slot for it is traditionally combined with a slot for a second SIM card.

It might seem that such a smartphone should be devoid of a fingerprint scanner. However, he is present here. Also, the manufacturer did not save on the power supply system – a 3000 mAh battery can be charged using the MediaTek PumpExpress 3.0 technology. The only pity is that you need to connect the network adapter to the micro-USB connector – sometimes this can be done only the third time.

Advantages

  • There is a fingerprint sensor;
  • A sufficiently powerful processor is used;
  • Fast charging technology supported;
  • Not the highest cost;
  • Work in 4G networks is supported;
  • Good front camera
  • Decent rear camera with f / 1.7 aperture
  • Decent AMOLED – display.

disadvantages

  • Micro-USB connector used;
  • I would like to get more memory;
  • Not the longest battery life;
  • There is no NFC;
  • The smartphone can feel heavy.

Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018) 32GB

Rating: 4.5

Samsung Galaxy J8 (2018) 32GB

Our rating could not do without budget smartphones of South Korean production. The first representative of this market segment is the Galaxy J8 (2018). It can be called cheap only by the standards of Samsung products, because for this model they ask about 15 thousand rubles. However, this is less than the cost of the devices included in the Galaxy A series. What simplifications did the device get? First of all, the display attracts attention. It is made using energy efficient technology AMOLED, but the resolution is reduced to 720×1480 pixels. With a 6-inch diagonal, this is very small. Especially for that value. It also simplifies the Wi-Fi module, which maximally recognizes 802.11n networks. But this is quite possible to put up with. As with the micro-USB connector, which is used to connect a network adapter and synchronize with a PC.

Oddly enough, this is where the most serious disadvantages of the device end. The rest of the parameters of the smartphone are good news. For example, the eight-core Snapdragon 450 processor looks quite appropriate in such a device. Its power is enough for all applications, and games will not force you to reduce the level of graphics too much. 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of permanent memory is also normal, some competitors have even less capacity. The operating system, which is used as Android 8.0, should also please.

The main advantage of the smartphone is the rear camera. A double module is used here, which is extremely atypical for budget South Korean devices. The matrices have a resolution of 16 and 5 megapixels. Basically, the dual camera is used when you want to blur the background. Well, in the dark, the aperture helps, open to f / 1.7. It should be noted that the smartphone can record videos in 1080p resolution at 30 frames / s. Well, if we talk about the front camera, then it consists of one lens and a 16-megapixel matrix.

To unlock, a fingerprint scan is used here. Connecting to the Internet on the street is carried out via LTE networks. Also among the wireless modules installed here are Bluetooth 4.2 and even ANT +. Only the NFC chip was left behind, which would allow the owner of the smartphone to regularly leave the bank card at home.

Advantages

  • There is support for LTE and ANT +;
  • Built-in powerful processor;
  • There is a fingerprint scanner;
  • A separate slot for a memory card is used;
  • A fresh version of the operating system is installed;
  • Good rear camera
  • Quite good front camera;
  • The display was created using technology AMOLED;
  • Not the highest cost.

disadvantages

  • There is no NFC;
  • Not the largest amount of memory;
  • Micro-USB connector is used;
  • Low display resolution;
  • Not everyone will like large sizes.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) SM-A520F

Rating: 4.4

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) SM-A520F

For some time, this smartphone was one of the most popular in the Galaxy line – only flagships were in higher demand. The device has received a number of improvements over its predecessor. In particular, the device has become waterproof – from now on, falling into a filled bathtub will not harm it. Also, the gadget received a slightly more advanced camera. It still consists of one lens, but from now on it hides a 16-megapixel matrix, the light on which falls through the f / 1.9 aperture. With this camera, you can shoot high-quality video with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a frequency of 30 frames / s. Interestingly, a similar camera is installed on the front panel – this should appeal to lovers of selfies.

The rest of the smartphone remains the same when compared to the 2016 version again. Here, even the operating system is used the same – an update to the 'eight' is not expected. However, there are still some differences. For example, among wireless modules, ANT + suddenly appeared, allowing you to connect various medical and sports sensors. NFC has not gone anywhere – in many cases this chip is very useful. There are also Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and LTE. Access to personal information is provided after scanning the fingerprint, if, of course, you have chosen the appropriate unlocking method. The smartphone also includes an eight-core processor of its own production, operating at a clock frequency of 1900 MHz. A nice bonus is FM radio, which the South Korean company most often forgets about. The battery is recharged via the USB Type-C connector, which is also good news.

Finally, it should be noted that the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is the cheapest smartphone with Always On Display support. That is, he is able to continuously display the time, date and some other information.

  • There is a fingerprint sensor;
  • Not the largest size and weight;
  • A very powerful processor is installed;
  • There is an FM radio;
  • NFC and ANT + are supported;
  • Work in high-speed wireless networks is possible;
  • Good front camera
  • Decent rear camera
  • Very decent AMOLED – display;
  • Water protection implemented;
  • Adequate cost.

disadvantages

  • Not the largest amount of memory;
  • The operating system is not the most recent version;
  • Slippery body.

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) 32GB

Rating: 4.4

Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) 32GB

Another budget smartphone in our ranking. People like its cost so much that the device regularly disappears from the shelves. The high demand is also due to quite decent characteristics. In some respects, the smartphone outperforms Chinese competitors with a similar price tag! In particular, there is an NFC chip, which many 'Chinese' lack. But with its help, you can pay with a smartphone for purchases in a store, if the terminal at the checkout supports the wireless method of signal reception. Of course, the list of advantages does not end there.

On the back of the device is the 13MP camera lens. It would seem that the resolution is not great. However, the quality of the images is very high. Thanks for this, including the f / 1.7 aperture. There are no complaints about video shooting, the picture is recorded here in 1080p resolution and at a frequency of 30 frames / s. Almost the same camera is located above the display, so it is also extremely difficult to find fault with it.

Under the 'front-facing' there is a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. I am glad that the South Koreans use technology AMOLED to create even screens for budget devices. The operating system is busy with image processing Android 7.0. The smartphone allows you to watch videos online even on the street, because it is endowed with an LTE module. Slightly more surprising is the ability to transmit and receive data via the Wi-Fi 802.11ac standard. Well, wireless NFC and ANT + modules are completely atypical for a budget smartphone.

The South Korean manufacturer did not rid its creation of the fingerprint scanner. It turns out that personal data will be protected – the loss of the device will not lead to the fact that someone else will read it. Someone else may be pleased with the FM radio, which appears less and less in smartphones produced by Samsung. It remains to add that this model weighs 160 g – this is quite an adequate parameter.

Advantages

  • The display was created using technology AMOLED;
  • Small size and weight;
  • Decent wide-aperture rear camera
  • Good front camera
  • There is an FM radio;
  • There is support for LTE and Wi-Fi 802.11ac;
  • There are NFC and ANT + chips;
  • A good eight-core processor is built in;
  • Fingerprint scanner is not forgotten;
  • Low cost.

disadvantages

  • Low screen resolution;
  • It is more difficult to find on sale;
  • Micro-USB connector is used;
  • Not very long battery life;
  • Only 2 GB of RAM.

Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018)

Rating: 4.3

Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018)

By far the cheapest smartphone in our ranking. In Russian stores, you can buy this smartphone for only 8 thousand rubles, and during sales and much cheaper. I am glad that Samsung has kept its word – now even such inexpensive smartphones are equipped with AMOLED – displays. However, the savings on it are still noticeable. The fact is that the resolution of a 5-inch screen is only 960×540 pixels. Therefore, the pixel density here does not exceed 220 PPI. A little, but for someone this is enough.

The smartphone turned out to be compact and light – its weight does not exceed 153 g. At the same time, inside it there was a place for a quad-core chipset that supports work in LTE networks. Wi-Fi is limited here by the 802.11n standard, but higher speeds are useless for such a smartphone. NFC would not hurt, but the manufacturer still refused it. As for the cameras, modules of average capabilities are installed here. The rear camera has 8MP resolution. She can shoot Full HD video at 30 frames / s, but its quality will be far from ideal. The front camera has a 5-megapixel resolution, which makes it recommended to use it only for video communication.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) is the typical budget smartphone for those looking for a touchscreen dialer. There is not even a fingerprint scanner here, which could strengthen the protection of personal information. But the biggest disappointment is the memory size. 16 GB of permanent memory quickly runs out, and 1.5 GB of RAM is extremely small.

Advantages

  • Low cost;
  • High brightness of the screen;
  • Work in LTE networks is possible;
  • Minimum dimensions and weight;
  • The display was created using technology AMOLED.

disadvantages

  • There is no NFC;
  • No fingerprint scanner;
  • Very low display resolution;
  • Built-in micro-USB connector;
  • Little RAM and permanent memory;
  • Weak processor.

Conclusion

This is a list of the best Samsung smartphones in existence at the time of this writing. Of course, when choosing a device, we recommend looking at the top models from the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series first. But if you do not have such a huge amount, then do not be alarmed: mid-budget devices will not disappoint you either.
