What can you feed parrots other than food

The feeder of any parrot should always be filled with a sufficient amount of grain mixture, but this is not enough for adequate nutrition. You need to regularly feed your pet with food of a different kind.

1. Fresh vegetables, berries and fruits can be fed to your pet several times a day. Be careful and familiarize yourself with the lists of permitted and prohibited fruits so as not to harm the parrot: for example, mango and papaya are often found in dried feed, but it is highly discouraged to feed them fresh birds.
2. Sprouted grains will successfully replace artificial vitamin supplements. Experts recommend giving the parrot sprouts no longer than 6 mm – it is in this state that they are best absorbed and retain a pleasant taste. Sprouted feed should be given in small quantities, as it stimulates the production of sex hormones. On the other hand, if you are breeding parrots, this component of the diet will be indispensable during the breeding season.
3. Greenery. Birds will be happy to eat dandelions, plantains, lettuce, young nettles. In the cold season, seeds from feed sprouted to a state of young greenery are an alternative.
4. Porridges cooked in water without salt and sugar serve as a source of trace elements and have a positive effect on digestion.
