Among all civil and sports vehicles, it is motorcycles that are the true embodiment of power, speed and drive. Manufacturers make them ever faster and more dynamic, embodying the most modern technologies in the manufacture of engines and other components. For example, modern sports bikes can even use a Kevlar body – lightweight and durable, and therefore helping to develop impressive speeds.

But the 'heart' of any motorcycle is, of course, the engine. It is his roar that so warms the soul and pleases. It is its characteristics that make motorcycles as fast and dynamic as possible. And it is on its improvement that manufacturers focus, striving to ensure maximum speed.

And to demonstrate the possibilities, we have compiled a rating of the 10 most powerful motorcycles on the planet. These 'two-wheeled horses' will easily leave even the most sporty cars behind. Some of the motorcycles on display are so powerful that they are prohibited from being used on city streets.

10th place: Honda GL 1800 A Gold Wing (118 horsepower)

Rating: 4.1

Honda GL 1800 A Gold Wing (118 horsepower)

The rating is opened by a powerful touring motorcycle Honda GL 1800 A Gold Wing. Thanks to the 118 hp six-cylinder engine. in the 2018 configuration, it is capable of overclocking to absolutely impressive speeds.

However, the purpose of this bike is not to break speed records on the tracks. This touring model is characterized by the highest comfort, thanks to which you can spend all day behind the wheel and not feel the slightest fatigue. That is why many of the model's functions are focused on maximum practicality on long trips. For example, even the throttle valve can operate in four different modes!

In the 2018 configuration, the company Honda focused on improving usability. It added smart key controls, a large screen with Apple CarPlay support, a large aerodynamic fairing that directs air past the driver, and added a dual-clutch transmission.

All in all, the Honda GL 1800 A Gold Wing is the bike for those who enjoy long, fun rides from city to city. And the powerful engine not only provides stability on the track, but also helps to maintain speed in all conditions, from rain to mud or 'broken' surfaces.

9th place: Honda CBR1100XX 'Blackbird' (164 horsepower)

Rating: 4.2

Honda CBR1100XX 'Blackbird

Despite the fact that Honda Blackbird has already been discontinued (the last motorcycle rolled off the assembly line in 2007), it is still available for purchase to this day. In addition, he retains the title of one of the most powerful on the planet. This is because Honda the Blackbird is powered by a four-cylinder engine with up to 164 hp.

Such a powerful engine had to be supplemented with liquid cooling so that it did not overheat during operation. Such a decision certainly made sense. Thanks to a powerful and efficient engine Honda, the Blackbird broke the speed record for all production bikes in 1999, reaching 287 kilometers per hour.

The motorcycle has gone through 10 modifications. They were both minor (updating the thermostat housing) and quite noticeable – installing an electronic fuel injection system, reconfiguring the clutch, and so on. The motorcycle was officially sold primarily in Europe, so the easiest way to find it is the “European” configuration.

The very trade name of the Blackbird model ('Blackbird') is a reference to the American Lockheed SR-71 stealth aircraft – a supersonic and impressive reconnaissance aircraft.

8th place: Ducati 1098 (180 horsepower)

Rating: 4.3

Ducati 1098

Ducati is known for its truly impressive sports bikes. True, since the time when she began to obey numerous European rules for ensuring the safety of transport, her 'bikes' have somewhat 'lost in the rating'. And the powerful Ducati 1098 motorcycle, released in 2007, was intended to bring the manufacturer back to the market for iconic models.

Despite the fact that the Ducati 1098 is impressive in every detail, he failed to return the manufacturer to the 'host of cult companies'. Just a few years later, the 'Italians' in financial crisis were completely sold to Audi AG.

However, the Ducati 1098 is still interesting. Powered by a 180-horsepower Testastretta Evoluzione engine, it is capable of accelerating to a speed of 290 kilometers per hour. Could drive faster, but the upper threshold is limited by a bollard. But the main advantage of the Ducati 1098 is its stylish design. Like the other motorcycles from the Italian manufacturer, it looks really impressive. The sporty design with its signature colors only underlines the bike's outstanding performance.

The MV Agusta F4 CC is truly a flagship motorcycle. It is interesting not only for its high-performance engine, but also for its carbon (carbon fiber) body, magnesium frame plates, lightweight construction and other technological advances. True, the maximum speed is only 315 km / h, but this limitation is artificial.

The price of MV Agusta F4 CC was 120 thousand dollars. The motorcycle came with a special Girard-Perregaux watch with a copy number and a unique Trussardi leather jacket. The motorcycle came out in a limited edition – only 100 pieces were available. So it is not possible to buy it now (unless, of course, you are a millionaire fan of the brand).

Now on sale is MV Agusta F4 Claudio with similar specifications.

6th place: SUZUKI GSX1300R 'HAYABUSA' (197 horsepower)

Rating: 4.5

SUZUKI GSX1300R 'HAYABUSA'

The end of the 1990s saw a race of manufacturers to become the 'fastest production motorcycle in the world'. First, the palm belonged to the Kawasaki brand, then Honda Blackbird passed it. And in 1999 the title of fastest motorcycle went to Suzuki GSX1300R 'Hayabusa'.

Thanks to the 197-horsepower engine, it is capable of accelerating to a speed of 303-312 kilometers per hour (although in current models it is limited to 299 km / h). The peregrine falcon dives just as quickly when hunting.

It is worth noting that the 197 hp engine is installed in the second generation Suzuki GSX1300R 'Hayabusa', which has been produced since 2008. This powerful motor delivers up to 10,500 rpm. In the first generation, a 173-horsepower engine is installed, but even with it Hayabusa was able to break the world speed record.

The motorcycle itself belongs to a rather rare class 'sport tour'. This makes it dynamic, controllable and extremely comfortable at the same time. All in all, a great bike for fast intercity rides.

5th place: BMW S1000RR HP4 (199 horsepower)

Rating: 4.6

BMW S1000RR HP4

Yamaha Y ZF - R1

3rd place: Kawasaki ninja zx-14 (208 horsepower)

Rating: 4.8

Kawasaki ninja zx-14

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 is the top sports bike of the Japanese brand. First introduced in 2006, it still offers some of the most powerful consumer tech bikes available today.

In its current commercially available configuration, it is powered by a 1441cc, 208-horsepower, 16-valve, liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine that can accelerate from zero to 100 in just 2.5 seconds. 2nd place: MTT Y2K Turbine Superbike (320 horsepower)

Rating: 4.9

MTT Y2K Turbine Superbike

In 2000, Marine Turbine Technologies (or MTT) introduced a superbike that was designed to 'celebrate' the new millennium. The MTT Y2K Turbine Superbike has been in production for 5 years and is still the most powerful and expensive mass-produced motorcycle.

The MTT Y2K Turbine Superbike was powered by a Rolls-Royce gas turbine engine. Such 'motors' are installed, for example, on supersonic aircraft. The Rolls-Royce 250-C18 engine had the equivalent of 320 horsepower and ran on Jet A aviation kerosene. However, ordinary gasoline, biodiesel, and even coal dust can be used as fuel.

To equip a motorcycle with such an engine, the chassis had to be completely redone. This is why the MTT Y2K Turbine Superbike has a two-speed semi-automatic gearbox that is hardly ever used on other bikes.

Impressions from the MTT Y2K Turbine Superbike remained mixed. Even experienced riders spoke of him with caution – 'It's fucking crazy and incredibly scary. It's like bungee jumping, only the bungee pulls you up and the bike pulls you forward '; 'You hear the roar of the turbine, but you don't feel it. The only thing you feel is how your entire spine, each of its vertebrae, is compressed into one dense 'donut'.

1st place: Dodge tomahawk (500 horsepower)

Rating: 5.0

Dodge tomahawk

The Dodge Tomahawk is a rather odd … vehicle. At first glance, he is a motorcycle, only he has four wheels. Front and back – double. Also, in terms of design, the Dodge Tomahawk is simply an 'engine on wheels'. But what a!

The engine installed in the Dodge Tomahawk is a powerful engine that is also used in the Dodge Viper sports car. Ten-cylinder, 500 horsepower. Four wheels are used to improve stability. The futuristic case is crafted from magnesium, titanium and carbon.

Thanks to the powerful 10-cylinder engine, the Dodge Tomahawk can accelerate to 468 kilometers per hour. However, the engineers of the manufacturing company argue that this is not the speed limit. According to them, this motorcycle can reach more than 600 kilometers per hour.

The Dodge Tomahawk was introduced in 2003 as a concept motorcycle and was immediately put up for sale. True, its price was 555 thousand dollars per copy. As a result, there were not so many buyers – although the Chrysler company planned to sell at least 300 units, only 6 motorcycles were purchased. This is due not only to the price, but also to the exactingness of the Tomahawk. The bike is extremely sensitive to fuel quality and needs regular maintenance, and its tiny 12.7-liter fuel tank makes it unsuitable even for a 'fill-to-fill' ride.

As a result, the Dodge Tomahawk remained a prototype. However, it was still banned from use on public roads. And a few owners will only be able to enjoy this extremely powerful motorcycle on private circuits.
